Uninstalling the AVG management console (formerly known as AVG Zen)

The AVG management console (formerly known as AVG Zen) is a platform for managing each of your AVG products and is installed automatically with older versions of AVG products. This article contains instructions to uninstall the AVG management console from your Windows PC.

Uninstall all connected AVG products

Before you can uninstall the AVG management console, you must uninstall all AVG products that are connected to it. Refer to the relevant section below depending on your version of Windows:

Windows 10

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Apps and Features from the menu that appears.
  3. Click either AVG Protection (this represents your AVG Antivirus application) or AVG TuneUp.
    NOTE: AVG represents the AVG management console. Before uninstalling the AVG management console you must first uninstall AVG TuneUp and / or AVG Protection.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the selected AVG product.
  6. If both AVG Protection and AVG TuneUp are installed on your PC, repeat the steps above to uninstall both products.

Windows 8

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Press the Win and X keys simultaneously, then select Programs and Features from the menu that appears.
  3. Right-click either AVG Protection (this represents your AVG Antivirus application) or AVG TuneUp, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
    NOTE: AVG represents the AVG management console. Before uninstalling the AVG management console you must first uninstall AVG TuneUp and / or AVG Protection.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the selected AVG product.
  6. If both AVG Protection and AVG TuneUp are installed on your PC, repeat the steps above to uninstall both products.

Windows 7

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if you are using the default category view...

    ...or click Programs and Features if you are using the large/small icons view.
  4. Right-click either AVG Protection (this represents your AVG Antivirus application) or AVG TuneUp, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
    NOTE: AVG represents the AVG management console. Before uninstalling the AVG management console you must first uninstall AVG TuneUp and / or AVG Protection.
  5. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  6. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the selected AVG product.
  7. If both AVG Protection and AVG TuneUp are installed on your PC, repeat the steps above to uninstall both products.

Uninstall the AVG management console

NOTE: Before uninstalling the AVG management console, you must first uninstall all AVG Products linked to your AVG management console by following steps in the section above.

Follow the relevant directions below according to your version of Windows:

Windows 10

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Apps and Features from the menu that appears.
  3. Ensure that Apps & features is selected in the left-side panel, then click AVG, and select Uninstall.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the AVG management console.

Windows 8

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Press the Win and X keys simultaneously, then select Programs and Features from the menu that appears.
  3. Right-click AVG, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the AVG management console.

Windows 7

  1. Log in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions and ensure no other application or antivirus software is running on your PC.
  2. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program if you are using the default category view...
    ...or click Programs and Features if you are using the large/small icons view.
  4. Right-click AVG, then select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
  5. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog for permissions, click Yes.
  6. Follow on-screen instructions in the AVG uninstallation wizard to remove the AVG management console.

Troubleshooting

  1. If you experience issues uninstalling the AVG management console from your PC, try using AVG Clear or AVG Remover by following steps in the article below:
