Troubleshooting when AVG AntiTrack cannot detect tracking activity

In rare cases, AVG AntiTrack may fail to detect and block tracking attempts. If you experience this issue, we recommend fully uninstalling and then reinstalling AVG AntiTrack by following the steps in this article.

Before following the instructions in this article, ensure that you have the latest version of your browser installed:

If the issue persists after updating your browser:

  1. Uninstall AVG AntiTrack by following the steps in this article:
  2. Before reinstalling AVG AntiTrack, ensure that all application components were removed by following the steps below:
    • Check that hidden files and folders are visible on your PC. For instructions, refer to the following Microsoft Support article:
    • Open File Explorer and enter C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\ into the address bar.
      • If you see the AntiTrack folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Show more optionsDelete from the context menu.
    • In the File Explorer address bar, enter C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\.
      "your_username" refers to your Windows Username. You can find this by opening the Task Manager and selecting the Users tab.
      • If you see the AVGAntiTrack folder in this location, delete it by right-clicking the folder name and selecting Show more optionsDelete from the context menu.
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Reinstall AVG AntiTrack by following the exact steps in the following article:

  1. Open AVG AntiTrack, then click AVG AntiTrack in the Apple menu bar and select Uninstall....
  2. When the AVG AntiTrack Uninstaller window opens, click Uninstall.
  3. If prompted, enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, then click Update Settings.
  4. Enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, then click OK.
  5. Restart your Mac.
  6. Reinstall AVG AntiTrack by following the steps in this article:
