Compressing files to send to AVG Support

When troubleshooting AVG software issues with AVG Support, you may be requested to compress (or zip) certain files before sending them to AVG Support for further analysis. Zipped files consume less storage space, which makes them easier to send via the internet.

Compress files

  1. On your keyboard, press the Win key and E key simultaneously to open File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the file(s) you need to compress.
  3. Select the file(s) you need to compress. To select all files in a folder, press the Ctrl key and A key simultaneously on your keyboard.
  4. Right-click the selected file(s) and click Send toCompressed (zipped) folder.
  5. The selected files are compressed to a new .zip archive, which is located in the same location as the original file(s).
  6. Send the zipped folder to AVG Support and wait for further instructions.
If the compressed file is 5 MB or more, it is necessary to upload the file to our AVG FTP server. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article:
