---- MODUSADM log entry made at 12/19/2011 10:17:15

Sieve data source error 0xE00A03F1 : Sieve database not initialized

Solution:

There are two reasons why the MODUS services would not have access to the Sieve database: they have lost their connection to the Sieve database, or, the Sieve database is deleted or corrupt. In order to resolve the issue, you must begin by determining the cause of the issue.

Lost Connection to the Sieve database

You can determine whether the running MODUS services have lost their connection to the Sieve database by following the steps below:

  1. Open Norman Email Protection Administrator
  2. Open Systems and select the System Databases tab
  3. In the Database Settings list select Sieve Database
  4. Press the Test Connection button
If the message Test Completed Successfully, there is a good chance that the services have lost their connection to the Sieve. To resolve this issue, restart the services that start with MODUS in the Services tab.

The Sieve database is deleted or corrupt

You can determine whether the Sieve database has been corrupted or deleted by opening Norman Email Protection Administrator and opening Rules. If the following error message is immediately displayed Unable to connect to the Sieve database, your database is most likely damaged or deleted.

In order to resolve this issue, re-run the Norman Email Protection installation on top of your current system. If that does not work, you will have to reinstall Norman Email Protection.
