Resolving an issue when AVG shows the UI Failed to load error

In some cases, AVG reports that UI Failed to load which stops the whole program from running. This issue may be a result of the incorrect Windows services configuration.

If clicking Restart services on the error message does not help, you need to set the relevant Windows services to run automatically by following the steps in this article.

Solution

Before you begin, make sure you are logged in to Windows as a user with administrator permissions. Follow these steps according to your operating system:

Windows 10

  1. Press Win + R to run the Windows Services console, then type services.msc and click OK.

  2. In the Services console, locate and right-click Remote Desktop Services and select Properties.

  3. In the General tab, click the drop-down menu next to Startup type and select Automatic. Then click Apply to confirm changes.

    Note: If the service stops running, click Start in the Service status section.

  4. Restart your PC and try to open AVG again.

The AVG user interface should be loaded now.

Windows 8

  1. Press Win + R to run the Windows Services console, then type services.msc and click OK.

  2. In the Services console, locate and right-click Remote Desktop Services and select Properties.

  3. In the General tab, click the drop-down menu next to Startup type and select Automatic. Then click Apply to confirm changes.

    Note: If the service stops running, click Start in the Service status section.

  4. Restart your PC and try to open AVG again.

The AVG user interface should be loaded now.

Windows 7

  1. Press Win + R to run the Windows Services console, then type services.msc and click OK.

  4. In the Services console, locate and right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Services and select Properties.

  5. In the General tab, click the drop-down menu next to Startup type and select Automatic. Then click Apply to confirm changes.

    Note: If the service stops running, click Start in the Service status section.

  6. Restart your PC and try to open AVG again.

The AVG user interface should be loaded now.

Windows XP

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Run.

  4. In the General tab, click the drop-down menu next to Startup type and select Automatic. Then click Apply to confirm changes.

  6. In the General tab, click the drop-down menu next to Startup type and select Automatic. Then click Apply to confirm changes.

  7. Restart your PC and try to open AVG again.

The AVG user interface should be loaded now.

 

Further recommendations

If after performing all the steps from the instruction above the issue still persists, it is recommended to uninstall AVG and install it again.
