Uninstalling AVG AntiVirus from Android

This article explains how to uninstall AVG AntiVirus from your Android device. We recommend following the steps for uninstalling AVG AntiVirus via the app settings, as this method automatically deactivates the Device administrator permission for AVG AntiVirus, which is essential for proper uninstallation.

Uninstall via app settings

  1. Open AVG AntiVirus and tap Menu (three lines) in the top-left corner of the main app screen.
  2. Tap SettingsUninstall app.
The Uninstall app option only appears when the Device administrator permission for AVG AntiVirus is activated. If this permission is already deactivated, you can uninstall the app using another method.
  1. Enter your PIN or use your fingerprint to authorize the change. If you do know your PIN, refer to the following article for advice:
  2. Tap the green (ON) slider so it changes to white (OFF), then tap Uninstall App. The App info screen opens.
  3. Tap Uninstall, then OK to confirm uninstallation.
Uninstallation is not available on some Sony devices, as Sony may install the AVG Protection Xperia app at the system level. If you do not see the Uninstall option on your device, we recommend you select Disable.
