Uninstalling AVG AntiVirus from Android

These steps can differ slightly depending on your device model, Android version, and vendor customizations.

Before you can uninstall AVG AntiVirus for Android, you need to deactivate the Device admin permission granted for the app.

Deactivate Device Admin

  1. Go to your device Settings, search for device admin, then open Device admin apps.
  2. Tap AntiVirus, then select Deactivate.

Uninstall AVG AntiVirus

Before proceeding with uninstallation, ensure that you deactivated the Device admin permission granted for AVG AntiVirus in your device Settings.

Uninstallation is not available on some Sony devices, as Sony may install the AVG Protection Xperia app at the system level. If you do not see the Uninstall option on your device, we recommend you select Disable.
  1. Open your device Settings and go to Apps.
  2. Select AntiVirus.
  3. Tap Force Stop, then Force Stop again to confirm.
  4. Open Storage, then tap Clear Data and Clear Cache.
  5. Tap the back arrow to return to the App Info screen. Select Uninstall, then tap OK to confirm.

AVG AntiVirus is now uninstalled from your Android device.

Uninstallation is not available on some Sony devices, as Sony may install the AVG Protection Xperia app at the system level. If you do not see the Uninstall option on your device, we recommend you select Disable.
  1. On the Home screen of your device, tap the Google Play Store icon to open the store.
  2. Search for AVG AntiVirus, then tap Uninstall (or Disable).
  3. Tap OK to confirm uninstallation.

AVG AntiVirus is now uninstalled from your Android device.
