Why is Anti-Theft being removed from AVG AntiVirus?

Our comprehensive research showed that AVG Anti-Theft does not offer enough value compared to Android’s built-in Find My Device feature. Due to its direct integration with the system, Find My Device provides better functionality and user experience. Therefore, we decided to decommission AVG Anti-Theft and focus on other advanced protection features.

When does Anti-Theft become unavailable?

Anti-Theft will be fully removed from AVG AntiVirus by September 30, 2023.

Will I lose access to Anti-Theft if I am already using it?

If Anti-Theft is already active on your device and if you are using AVG AntiVirus for Android version 6.56 or older, then Anti-Theft will continue to work until September 30, 2023

How do I deactivate Anti-Theft?

To deactivate Anti-Theft:

1. Open AVG AntiVirus and go to ☰ Menu (three lines) ▸ Anti-Theft.
2. Enter your Anti-Theft PIN.

3. At the top of the screen, tap the (ON) slider so it changes to (OFF).

Anti-Theft is now deactivated.

Which services can I use instead of AVG Anti-Theft?

Google provides Find My Device, a solution for remotely controlling your device when lost or stolen. This service is available for free and it allows you to see the last known location, sound a siren, lock, or erase the data from your device remotely.
