Thanks for all the help, but the only solution to my problem was that I restarted my PC this morning and AVG SUDDENLY decided to work again... Thats weird, maybe a windows update fixed it?

Hello Nate,

I understand the inconvenience.
Can you share the (screenshot) of AVG UI failed message to assist further?
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Did you use both the tools as mentioned (here) to remove AVG traces?

Nate,
I understand this must be upsetting and I apologize for the inconvenience. I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to get in touch with the remote support. They will analyze the issue with AVG and fix it, free of cost.
Nate WuNate Wu
Bhuvaneswari,
Thanks but I am not comfortable with remote support. Is there another way?
Bhuvaneswari VairavanBhuvaneswari Vairavan (Avast)
I understand your difficulties in providing remote access. The only way is running AVG Clear tool and remove all the AVG traces from your PC and do a reinstallation.

Have you tried that?

I have the same problem and have the same notification window as Nate Wu also a notification advising you are unprotected. I have done a clean install of windows 10 April update and after that the problem started. Have tried the repair option, the Avg remover tool and the Avg clear tool with no luck. So it must be Avg is not compatible with the new windows 10 update. Now what can i do

Some (although many have not been effected) of my Windows 10 Spring Update (1803) Installations are experiencing the same issue: Taskbar Icon reporting "You are unprotected", followed by the Popup Window reporting "UI Failed to load" (which will fails to restart).

I have tried the AVG Remover and AVG Clear Utilities.
I have tried the Visual C++ 2012 Installation and AVG Repair

I have tried setting the "Remote Desktop Services" Service to Automatic/Start and the UI still NOT Open

The AVG Service is still not running and the UI can not be opened.
This Isse was NOT experienced Issue with Windows 10 Fall Creators (1709)

I just installed the latest windows 10 version (1803).
And I have the same problem even after reinstalling AVG.

I could make AVG work by manually disabling Windows Defender:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-permanently-disable-windows-defender-windows-10

However Windows Defender should be disabled automatically when a third party antivirus.
Now why this is not the case?
Is the problem on AVG or on windows side

Hello Chapr,

Thank you for letting me know the status.

This is a new issue occurring in the latest version. We are working on a fix for this.

Yes, when a third party security software is installed, it should disable Windows Defender automatically.

Please wait for 24 hours and update us the status of AVG.

I have the same problem when update to 1803.
Everytime after major updates for Windows 10 AVG would have problem. I think you guys don't test with the RC or RTM version of Windows 10 updates.
As per last experience, no point of trying this and that because all will not work.
Pls fix it asap and provide an update for your app.

Thanks!

AVG is still working with Windows Defender manually disabled.

Waiting for the fix so that AVG can disable Windows Defender!

I am too having the same issue. I have done all steps and it'll work for a short time and next time I boot my PC I get the error again.

Now strange thing is, someone in my house has the exact same PC and model as me, and he don't have this issue at all. Odd....
Mike DudleyMike Dudley
Okay I can confirm manually disabiling the windows defender does work after reboot. You know what, I hate Windows 10 after the 1st creators update, as it created issues, now the this stupid 2nd creators update does this. The Microsoft aszhats make you FORCEDATE your Windows 10.

Windows 10 core is great but the nazi's FORCE you to update.
Mike LoweMike Lowe
Ok none of the above is working, i have tried on a clean install of windows 10 pro to get AVG internet security to work.

The issue is that windows defenders antimalware subprocess sees Avg antivirus as a threat and deletes it. I have tried to deactivate defender, i spent hours on the phone with Technet each time defender has a subprocess that restarts defender in the background and kills AVG.

I tried the remove tool after 2 of the 5 installs went south and the remover doesnt see avg antivirus as installed only the pc tune up part.

I have followed your email suggestions and many others suggestions here and nothing works at all.

Now i am fed up.

So here is the bottom line.
You have taken my money for a product that you say is the best out there.
Clearly there is a major issue with its interaction with Windows 10 1803 update.
You are the software vendor and creator.
You have the obligation to your paying customers to fix this issue.
And yet you havent fixed it.
You as a company need to take ownership if the issue and fix it or start refunding customers.

Please deal with this, dont ask me for logs, dont ask to remote onto my PC, its taken 5 attempts to get a stable 1803 installation i cant risk your 3rd line guys screwing it up, so simply fix the problem with the integration into windows 10 and windows defender.

OR REFUND ME WITH COMPENSATION.

Thanks

Hello,
"AVG UI failed to load" issue has been in AVG Internet Security/AVG Antivirus Free 18.4 version.
You can repair your AVG protection and reboot your computer once to fix this issue.
Best regards,
Alok.
