AVG and Roon, help please

Hello. First post here.
Hopefully others are using AVG and Roon. In my home I have Roon Core installed in PC#1 which retrieves music online from Tidal and distributes to multiple Windows, Android, and Apple devices around the home (all of these using Roon client app). The setup was working perfectly and I was running AVG Free protection on PC#1, but since I upgraded to AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device) it's not working anymore.
I tried creating an exception for Roon, but it's not working. Probably didn't do it the right way.

How should I fix this?

Thank you!!

Hi Horacio,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
Sometimes, this might happen if the firewall settings are not modified to allow the app to access internet or share files.
In this regard, let us initially disable AVG Firewall temporarily to check if it helps. To do so : Open AVG - Hacker Attacks - Disable Enhanced firewall by clicking on the toggle bar.
If it allows you to access the app, follow the below steps to modify firewall settings :
Open AVG - Menu - Settings - Full protection - Enhanced Firewall - Enable Internet connection sharing.
Additionally, click on System rules that is available in the same page & enable the 1st two options : Windows file & printer sharing, remote desktop connections.
Please try the above steps & let us know the outcome.

Hello.

The issue is back again!
AVG was updated to 20.2.3116 (build 20.2.5130.566), and the Roon app on the phone can't access the server again. Of course I checked everything per the above, and when I disable Enhanced Firewall the phone app works fine, but when I enable it agin (with above settings) it is now not working. What changed?

Please help (again :))

Horacio, we regret the inconvenience caused.
Please enable the 'Internet connection mode' in AVG firewall settings and verify the issue.

You mean enable "Internet connection sharing mode", right? Yes, that was implemented per the recommendations from Aug 1, 2019 above. It used to work, but since the update it hasn't.

Thank you for replying, Horacio.
Please reset the program settings and enable Internet connection sharing mode again. Follow the below steps to reset the program settings.
Open AVG Internet security --> click Menu --> select Settings --> click Troubleshooting -->  scroll down to the “Reset All Settings” section and click on “Reset to Default“ --> Reboot the PC.
Enable also all system rules in firewall and check with the Roon app. Click the below link to show steps to enable System rules.

Thank you.
Did the reset to default and rebooted, and enabled system rules (which is the same as before). Still having the same problem. So I'm running with disabled enhanced firewall in hacker attacks and things work well.

What next?

Issue resolved!

Thank you so much!!
Wanted to leave trace of it being resolved and also for my future reference:
- On Enhanced Firewall, set "for programs with no defined rules" button set to "allow"
- List of network profiles: Red 2 set to "private"

Thank you so much!!
