After using AVG free for over 15 years, it's time to dump it.

Unfortunately, after using using AVG free for 15= plus years, it's time to say good bye.
Updates are no longer automatic and there is always a green tick saying you are protected yet updates need doing.
I used to recommend AVG to all my customers, but no more. Sad but true.
Bye.

Thank you for providing us the screenshot.

I see that you have the latest version of AVG installed. Please do not worry, you are completely protected by AVG.

Kevin,

Thank you for choosing AVG, sorry for the difficulties. Mostly this update issue will occur only when the update files gets corrupted and we need to reinstall AVG Antivirus free completely to resolve it and to have latest version of AVG 2018. virus definitions updates are always automatic and manual updates will be required only when we release a product update.

Go to control panel -> Programs and features -> Uninstall -> remove AVG free version and restart your device. Refer this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free to download and install your AVG Antivirus free version. We are here to help you.

Thank you for your reply Ranjani.
So, you are saying that if the green tick (check) is there it means that the virus definitions are up to date and all should be protected?

Regards,

Kevin

Yes, Kevin.

AVG program by default is set to download and install the updates automatically unless you change it. If you are seeing "You are protected" message on AVG interface and all the components are active with Active or Protected status, you can be assured that your AVG is actively protecting your PC.

Please click on Menu -> Settings -> Update and provide us with a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of Update window to confirm if you are using the latest version or not. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
