Willy Cave AVG Free and Malwarebytes Free together?
Hello everyone! I currently have AVG Free as my main protection. I plan on adding Malwarebytes Free (manual scanner, no real-time protection) as a second opinion scanner to check for malware that might slip through AVG's Protection. Are both products compatible? Can they run together without conflicts?
I know I've kinda asked this question before, but it's 2018. It's a new year, and what applied before may not apply now, especially since both AVG and Malwarebytes constantly update their products. Mallwarebytes claims that they'll always maintain compatibility with Antivirus software, but I guess I want to know AVG's side too in this matter. Can you guys help me?

Yes, the free version of MBAM should be able to run alongside AVG as it doesn't contain any resident shield.
However, we are still not recommending two antivirus program to run on the same PC.

AVG and Malwarebytes are not compatible with each other. Also, you cannot install two Antivirus program on the same device since it will conflict each other and make your device to perform slower.
So it is recommended to use only one Antivirus program on the Windows device.

One last question: Portable Scanners (those that can be carried on a flash drive) can work with AVG, right? Portable Scanners such as Zemana Portable, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, and Emsisoft Emergency Kit?

I am now facing the same problem with AVG, in that it seems to have upgraded itself automatically, and does not allow me either to refuse the upgrade or to set it manually. I therefore feel I must removed AVG, but this seems fraught with problems. AVG Clear forced a Safe Mode reboot which then locked my OS in Safe Mode, and I am having to reinstall it from a backup.
I am sorry to hear that. AVG clear tool will boot your PC to safe mode only when you click "Yes". You can boot your PC from Safe mode to normal mode by refferring this article https://www.pcworld.com/article/3085034/windows/how-to-get-out-of-windows-safe-mode.html
