Windows XP compatibility...?

Hi folks!

We are trying to install AVG AntiVirus upon a PC that is running Windows XP (with Service Pack 3). According to the AVG website, the software is compatible with XP (albeit no longer supported in terms of new features). However with both the "online" and "offline" versions of the download, we get an error saying that it is "not a valid win32 application", suggesting that it is *not* XP-compatible after all. Please can anyone clarify?

Many thanks!

Hello Dave,

We will check this for you.

The latest version of AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus (19.1 version) is not compatible with Windows XP. Our developers are working on it and you will getting an updated version of AVG compatible with your operating system.

Your patience is highly appreciated.

Has there been any update on this? I have a single machine that we're currently unable to upgrade to beyond XP - this is planned for replacement within the next year. Is an XP compatible version being developed or can we download a version 18 product from anywhere? Many thanks,

^ The above link doesn't help - it doesn't provide a version of AVG AntiVirus that is compatible with XP.

Dave,
Sorry to hear that the issue persists. Do you still receive the same error message while trying to install AVG Antivirus?
Please share the screenshot of that error message to check and assist you further.

^ Yes, same error. I can't provide a screenshot at the moment as the XP machine is at the other site. Will produce it shortly.

Thanks

Dave, please try to download a trial version of AVG Internet Security (18.x) using this link https://install.avcdn.net/avg/iavs9x-xp/avg_internet_security_setup_offline.exe.

Hi Avinash,

Yes, that works on XP! :-)

If all goes well we will upgrade to the full version in a few days' time.

Many thanks

We  have recently purchased the newest version of AVG (19.1) and it says it's Windows XP compatible. However, we ran into the same issues as Dave. I installed the trial version recommended above into one of the Windows XP computers, but when I tried to enter the product key we have it says it's for an unsupported version. Is there any way we could have access to the 18.1 full version for those three computers we have XP without having to purchase it again? We already renewed the subscription; had we known it would only work on half of our computers we may not have... Please help us resolve this issue.
Thanks
