AVG Crashes Forza Horizon 5

As the title says AVG crashes forza horizon 5. Ive added the file path as an exception but can not add the program itself due to microsoft store files are behind needing permissions to access. The only way to play the game is to turn AVG off.

Hello J K,

My name is Jovana and I'm with AVG senior support.
Thank you for reaching out.

Our team is aware of this issue and they are currently investigating it and searching for a solution. We're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Meanwhile, you can either disable the shields while playing the affected game or try turning off virtualization in your AVG, which has been shown to help in some cases.

To do so, launch AVG and navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > scroll down and uncheck "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization."

I hope this is of assistance for the time being until our developers can come up with a permanent solution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Let us know how it goes, or in case there is anything else we can do for you.

Hello Nisha,
I have uninstalled and reinstalled AVG free, im using version: 21.9.3209 (build 21.9.6698.561), which seems to be the most recent. Sadly the game still crashes with AVG running.

Hello Jovana,

Thank you for replying and letting me know that it is being looked into. Also thank you Nisha and Sreenu for helping.

I will give the the enable hardware virtualization a try, but if it does not work i'll just disable AVG temporarily when playing Forza and wait for a future update.

I ran into the same issue with AVG Internet Security (paid). I uninstalled AVG but after reading this I re-installed and will validate the uncheck 'Enable ...." as soon as possible and report back my findings.

Hi Patrick,

Thank you for your understanding.
Please try disabling the hardware assisted virtualization & check.
If issue persists, you can disable the respective AVG shields temporarily, that is blocking the access, while playing the game till our developers finds a fix. Have a great day. Stay safe!

@Dinesh Krishnan

That is exactly what I said I was going to do so why do offer the 'advise' again?

Having that said:
  1. I re-installed AVG
  2. Rebooted
  3. Unchecked "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization."
  4. Rebooted
  5. Started FH5 and played for a while without having any issues where it used to crash almost immediately
  6. Then -> Checked <- the mentioned setting
  7. Rebooted
  8. And still could play FH5 without any crashes.
It looks like that in my case fully refreshing AVG seems to have done the trick. I doubt removing AVG TuneUp was the solution as that one got removed as well and has not been re-installed.

Wanted to give an update. Not sure if you guys updated anything or from the game updating, but AVG no longer crashes the game. Everything is turned back on in AVG and the game works just fine now.

Hi,
My laptop speed has also decreased after installing AVG on my HP Elitebook G4. Whenever I play any game, my laptop starts running slowly. For example, yesterday, I was playing Traffic Rider (https://trafficriderapk.in/)on my laptop, and it started playing slowly.
Let me know if you need further assistance!
