avg not scanning - stuck at 0% after dbase updates

Hi,

I have noticed after avg updates it's database, the next scheduled scan tends to get stuck at 0%.

Initially I wondered if I had some kind of bug, but ran it in safe mode and scanned clean, also used malware bytes and other programs and all came back negative. After rebooting from safe mode, avg then scanned fine 2 days in a row (and came back with no infections - clean scans).

however after the database updated on the 19th, the next scan then got stuck. And upon restart this morning, it has failed to scan as well.

That's 2 or 3 times this has happened now, initially i thought it was random when it occurred , but looking back, I think it is after each time the virus database has updated.

The interface says scanning, but it just sticks at 0% and doesn't progress. A restart doesn't help - it seems only closing, opening in safe mode, then restarting works (as I type, the scan is still stuck at zero - 2 hours after initially starting, and i've not had time to go through the whole re boot process as I need to get some work done)

hi, I uninstalled and re installed successfully, but the problem persists.

avg gets stuck at 0% if the database has updated during the day (before the scheduled scan). Only restarting in safe mode, then restarting again in normal mode clears the problem.

on top of this (and this happens every time too) - if I don't do the double restat, then the next time avg updates it database, I lose all internet connectivity (again, only resolved by restarting in safe mode, then starting again in normal mode).

so for example, the computer scaned fine on the 22nd & 23rd august, then on the 24th it updated the database in the afternoon and that night the scan failed (although internet was still working). The next morning (25th) I started the computer and the internet connected just fine, but when avg's database updated at 07.35, all internet connection was then lost and only resolved by restating in safe mode, then normal mode.

It makes no sense, all scans when working with latest updates come back clean and I have no other issues with the pc running, it just seems avg's database updates stop the scan for some reason and also stop internet connectivity too. I think I might need to abandon avg and move to other software to save the hassle.

thanks in advance, let me know if you need any other information
