New SSL email communication problem has happened since version 2015.0.6122 or 6125 was installed

New SSL email communication problem has happened since version 2015.0.6122 or 2015.0.6125 was installed

I have used AVG to filter SSL emails for a long time but it has stopped working since new AVG versions 2015.0.6012 or 2015.0.6125 were released.  Both incoming and outgoing SSL emails are affected.  Has a change to the software disabled this capability?

I had created the incoming and/or outgoing mail servers in the AVG Email Protection manually to enable filtering by AVG of SSL emails.  It worked until late last night (3 August) when I was still using AVG 2015.0.6086.  This morning (4 August) versions 2015.0.6012 or 2015.0.6125 were installed and SSL emails cannot be received or sent through these AVG Email Protection mail servers.

Chris, What build are you showing on the AVG User Interface bottom RH corner i.e. 2015 build ****?.

Thank you Alan for responding so quickly.  I am running AVG Build 2015.0.6125.  I cannot say if build 2015.0.6122 also has this problem since build 2015.0.6125 arrived almost immediately after build 2015.0.6122 was installed.

I happened to take a system backup yesterday and have just run that system copy on which AVG build 2015.0.6086 is installed (I use removable HDDs).  AVG SSL email works great with AVG 2015.0.6086.

For the time being, I have configured my email client to bypass AVG but would prefer SSL emails to go through AVG so look forward to a problem fix.

When I started using AVG more than four years ago, it was quite a job to get AVG, the email client and the POPFile spam filter to work together to process SSL emails.  It took several days for me to achieve this so I am very keen to see the return of the AVG SSL email functionality.

I forgot to say that what I can see of the problem is that the email client cannot connect to the POP3 or SMTP servers through AVG 2015.0.6125.  I cannot supply any further information to this comment.

Alan, Chris,
There have been a few other posts on this already. According to one thread, https://support.avg.com/answers?s=SSL#!/feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&dc=Windows&criteria=ALLQUESTIONS&id=906b00000004woCAAQ (https://support.avg.com/answers?s=SSL#!/feedtype=SINGLE_QUESTION_DETAIL&dc=Windows&criteria=ALLQUESTIONS&id=906b00000004woCAAQ) build 6122 broke something, and the problem has been escalated to the development team.  Disappointing that it's hard to find this information, and that apparently the update was (is?) still being delivered even though they apparently know it will cause a problem

Thanks Adam.  How about a born again 2015.0.6086 rereleased as 2015.0.6126?

The changelog regarding 2015.0.6122 says "Fixed issue with multiplication of emails when using IMAP protocol."  Is that the culprit?

I am able to go back to AVG 2015.0.6086 having reverted to my system disk backup of 3 August 2015.  Lo and behold, the SSL emails were duly scanned by AVG.  For those not as fortunate as me, I think it would be a good idea for AVG to maintain downloads of offline installation executables for the most recent few builds.  This would provide some relief for those caught out by a duff program update.

For Gmail the fix is working with SSL, but for GMX no more... GMX only problems with SMTP. POP is working.

Hello,

Thank you all for your replies. Sorry if my question irritated you.

I saw the fix published on 6th August. However, for me it was not clearly stated if this fix could be applied to the free version (nornally for the free version, the installation executable begin with "avg_free").

However, thanks to your answers, I installed this fix which works fine with my free-avg.

Thank you all!
