Hey, Kev .. can't explain how/what or why .. but just this morning ... it worked!! Have ignored problem since I posted my problem .. was operating without the update. This morning, I did as my son tells me to do ever so often. Shut down the computer. Waited couple minutes did restart .. then shut down again.. then another restart. He explained to me that the computer does it's own 'tightening up' internally . He compared it to tightening up the sheets, military style (He was Air Force.. mow a Bio Med tech, pretty computer smart (I am not). Anyway... next I checked for  updates... Windows was fine, Chrome was fine ... Under the "All Programs" I clicked on AVG 2014. It said update available .. I hit update, followed instructions and Eureka!!! AVG updated ... and without that message I was getting when I first tried.

Hope this works for you. Oh, nothing else was open... just the screensaver and icons, right after restart.

Hi Florence,
Not sure what happened, can you better describe your issue? Update is failing or something else? If there is some dialog or weird error message please provide us with Screenshot (http://kb.avg.com/articles/en_US/How_to/How-to-create-a-screenshot/).
Thanks

Hi kev,
If it is still not working please uninstall current version using this tool (http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/TuneUp_Remover.exe) and install latest version from our web.
Thanks
