Andrew Tapia AVG Keeps Detecting False Positives, and Adding to Exceptions List Fails
For the past few months or so, AVG has been consistently detecting various application as threats, usually as "General Behavioral Detection." This began with Google Chrome. Later, after I reinstalled Chrome, it began detecting "GOOGLEUPDATE.EXE.", as well as the application that handle Google Voice/Video. There have been a few others that it has detected, and most recently, it has bothered me about some Adobe Flash Player update.
This has been happening even after an update.
I try to choose "Ignore threat", but it always tells me that adding to the exceptions list has failed. Is there anything I can do to prevent all of my applications from getting stopped?
I have also found that since ths started happening I can no longer install anything on the computer. The installations almost always end in some sort of error.
Is there anything I can do to fix these problems?

ASUS G50V
Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 @ 2.13 GHz 2.13 GHz
4 GB DDR2
Graphics card was formerly NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS (this has been disabled since it broke from overheating)
Running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
This has been happening even after an update.

It seems that neither of those is helping. The files that it detects cannot be removed from the Virus Vault (I get an "Access denied." error). I also can't submit for analysis (I get an "Invalid parameter." error message). It also seems that some of the things that it detects frequently (like GOOGLEUPDATE.EXE) are already on the exceptions list. Furthermore, adding to the exceptions list is more of a measure that must be taken after the fact. I'm kind of more concerned that AVG is detecting all of these things (and begins detecting new things) when there is nothing wrong with them. I have other computers with the same software installed, but none of them have this issue. I think that the common attribute between most of these detections is that they are mostly updater programs. I remember AVG doing this with the Java updater a while back too.

It has been nearly a year since I posted this issue. I tried the steps in the article, and the problem persisted after reinstallation. I have been forced to simply disable AVG until restart when I need to access these things. I was hoping that additional updates would resolve the issule, but the issue has still not been resolved. Is there anything else I can try?
I am sorry to hear that, in order to analyze it please provide us with http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe output (run it after inducing described behavior) and please add detailed description of issue.
