Scanning and repairing drive (C): stuck at 10% for hours.

So everything AVG has worked up to now. I have run all the programs and this one was the very last one to run. It was to check the disk drive and in order to run my systems had to restart. It booted and began to Scan. Its been an hour and has not made it past 10%. How do i get out of it with out pulling the battery? Please help.

Hello Donald. Sorry to hear that. Usually this disk defragmentation will take several hours to get completed but if it hangs up at a particular percentage for many hours then please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1f5JYjW to stop the progress. Unfortunately, this results in the To Skip disk checking, press any key within x seconds screen to lock up.

Having same problem...then trying your steps suggested.. end on a loop.. piss poor as not happy at all

Hello Jeffery and Stuart,

Do you mean that, the scan is not skipped when you tap Space bar repeatedly?
Could you restart the PC and try it again?
