AVG SCAN CAUSING BLUE SCREEN DEATH REPORTED MANY TIMES

As others have reported yesterday and today running a Scan has caused the Computer to crash with blue screen and "fatal system error".  There is mention of a Trojan but some reports seem to have "disappeared". Maybe they were posted as "Answers". My computer crashed despite pausing when two "threats" were listed - it seemed to run up to four and crashed within seconds.
I run XP SP3 and an aside issue, is when I first go into AVG Account it says "you don't have any Suscription" Inviting me to subscribe.  This is false as I find my Invoice dated 15/9/14 for a two year period - however I note that only 2014 version 2014.0.4830 is running on my computer despite I would have downloaded at the time what I thought to be 2015.   Answers please.   Has this problem gone viral or been reported?

I had the same issue with both of my computer yesterday.  Apparently the AVG update today fixed the problem.  I hope you will find the latest AVG update took care of the problem for you too.

Guess we will never truly know what went wrong, but it was obviously a problem with AVG.  Neither of my computers had any difficulties except the Blue Screen of Death when I attempted to run the AVG scan.  Today -- praise God and AVG -- all is seemingly okay.

Yes its a relief to know that there were no "threats".

Can you please confirm why I paid for 2015 and am running with a 2014 version? I asked this Q in my first report.
Send me the latest download for the 2015 version or is the 2015 a myth and you are still selling 2014 repackaged as 2015?

Stuart, SM Corbin et al,
I too experienced the dreaded BSOD/crash while attempting to use AVG scan. As with others it crashed at abourt 20/20%. Then I read from something from one of the AVG Support Community writers who was experiencing exactly the same problem as me. i should say that I got the C000021a fatal error message. Anyway, he wrote that he performed a Windows Update  and discovered an uninstalled update which he proceeded to instal and it fixed his problem.
I tried the same exercise. I ran the "recommended" windows update scan and it reported all updates installled? I then tried (which I have never done in the multiple times I have used Windows Update) the "Custom" update scan and lo and behold they were all kinds of uninstalled updates. Windows had categoriezed them and I reviewed those specifically for Windows XP - I selected 3 and installed them. Unfortunately I am at work and do not have the Windows Custom Update KB numbers but the updated worked. I rebooted my PC and performed an AVG scan, with fingers crossed, it took awhile for it to finish but the scan worked flawlessly. I ran three more scan and they all worked.
I should mention that after I installled these updates and had the AVG scan running I contacted AVG support who performed a remote look-see and said all is well.

I hope this helps some or all.

Hello Mark, the memory does play tricks on me.  I received two emails ths morning and fortunately being a late riser ignored the first which suggested. Quote "Please collect the dump from the following path:
Minidumps – C:\Windows\Minidumps\
Kernel or Full memory dump – C:\Windows\memory.dmp
And upload those dumps in our FTP server by following the below steps.
Using AVG tool
Click the following link to download the AVG service utility to your computer (we recommend saving it to your Desktop).
Double-click the utility to launch it.
Choose what files or folders you would like to upload.
Enter your email address.
Click Send files.
After the file is successfully sent, screen with its name appears. Please inform us that you have uploaded the file under that name.   blah blah blah "  Unquote.
I think I did get a Windows update perhaps it was Monday and clicked on it???. Fact is, that I thought Microsoft withdrew all support for XP ages ago, so I was a bit surprised to receive updates?
Anyway, I did nothing today but ran a scan and it found no threats. Glad I didn't attempt all that the first email suggested. Regards

Stuart
