Windows 10 build 10532, unable to re-install AVG

I've recently updated to build 10532 on Windows 10 64 bit and when trying to re-install AVG I keep getting the error "Setting of firewall registry keys failed" Error Code 0xc0070643, MSI engine: Failed to install product @AVGMSI_Error 27025, Setting of frewall registry keys failed (0xE001003D). I've noticed several others on the forum with same issue and I've followed the outlined steps to solve the problem but as yet AVG will not install. Has anyone found a solution to this other than rollback to a previous build of Windows 10?

Hi Roy, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to run AVG remover tool based on your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) to completely remove AVG and then re install. To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218
To download the remover tool, please click on this link: http://www.avg.com/utilities . Then, please follow the steps in this article to install AVG Internet Security ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Internet-Security-or-Premium-Security ). Please do not hesitate to get back to us for further assistance. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply Komal, I've already tried your answers previously including the reset tool listed in another thread. The error still keeps occurrring leaving me with a unprotected PC. I've saved the install log if you're interested.

I am having same problem with build 10532. I know this is a Preview build, but that is why we have Preview users...to test not only the OS, but the 3rd party apps that sometimes break. I have tried using the removal tool and doing a clean AVG install. This problem only started with build 10532. Please let me know if you, or anyone else, comes up with a resolution, or if AVG aknowledges the issue and is working to fix it (which isn't a bad thing, again this is why we test before it is released to the masses!)

Exactly Rob. I've only got round to the first phase of AVG support and it's now being escalated to a senior team. I'll yet know the outcome of this later.

I've been through this already several times including up to other hases of AVG support. I have removed AVG using the AVG remover and uninstall tools,  I have also contacted Microsoft for an answer and have tried to download the MSI Engine for this. I have removed all other security software (temporarily as I do not want my computer "naked" for too long).  So far nothng I have tried worked.  I keep getting the same errors:  Setting of firewall registry keys failed" Error Code 0xc0070643, MSI engine: Failed to install product @AVGMSI_Error 27025, Setting of frewall registry keys failed (0xE001003D)  If anyone has an answer, it would be great. i've used AVG for a long time, have it on my other computer(also running build 10532 but "home edition"), and two android phones-all without problems.

Just an update. I couldn't figure it out so I made a backup of everything and now I am formatting my compter.

If you use Windows 10 BEWARE do NOT use the "AVG Reset Access tool" it will hose your computer!

I have the same problem with 64 bit build 10152. I have had several sessions with AVG support and they have not been able to fix it. It seems this is a more general problem than something specific to any of our systems. It just started with this build of windows so clearly Microsoft did something that tripped up AVG in this build. Hopefully senior technicians can fix it. None of the suggestions above work as far as I can tell.
Rade MusulinRade Musulin
Apologies, I meant build 10532 in my last post.

Hello Rade, sorry for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to contact our  technical support via https://support.avg.com/support_contact_form?l= and explain your issue so that they will escalate your case to higher level technical team. Thank you.
Roy ThompsonRoy Thompson
Aravind I had already tried the AVG reset access tool prior to an AVG technician also attempting the same to clear the issue via remote connection. Even after the technician’s efforts, which were more or the less the same as mine he failed. He even tried an installation under safe mode and it still failed. I'm still waiting for a response from the "higher level technical team" but was told at the last remote connection that I will be contacted in few business days. As a result I've had to use an alternative AV to provide sufficient AV coverage whilst waiting for the mail to arrive. Liam, I feel for ya buddy, but after running the rest tool a couple of times I'm not sure what killed your PC, it did nothing to mine. I'm thinking this must be one of the odd peculiarities of Windows 10. I do feel however looking through several forums a roll back or full clean install of Win 10 maybe the solution.
Rade MusulinRade Musulin
In response to Roy's suggestion on a clean install, I had done a "Reset" on Windows 10 build 10532 (which I thought was like a clean install) and I still have the problem. I did the "Reset" to try to fix the AVG problem. The Windows reset seemed to wipe out everything including the old registry. I am still waiting for AVG's senior technicians to get back to me.

Well, it's now the 15th of September and still no response from the senior AVG technicians....

Hello Roy.
I apologize for the delay in responding to you. I see that your case has now moved to our developers team after analyzing the log files collected from your computer. They would respond back to the senior technicians with a resolution and you would be contacted soon.  Your patience is much appreciated. Thank you.

I have also had a support request in on this since late August, almost 3 weeks ago. AVG has not even bothered to communicate with me as to the status of fixing this. I had hoped that Build 10547 would fix it, but AVG still refuses to install. I am very disappointed with AVG for failing to communicate on this issue. Even if they cannot fix it they should tell us that.

Hello Rade,

I have checked your case record and found that you have submitted your issue to AVG via "Escalation Feedback Form" and you got few replies from our AVG team. The case reference is 01023902. Could you please reply back to the same email so that the assistance will be quicker and more easier?
Thank you.

Hello!

Any progress ?

Having similar problems with Internet Security. No update, not able to install after uninstall. Update failed, installation failed. even after running AVG removal tool ... which actually in log says that also failed.

I see several treads in same or similar problem and support is mentioning that it has been escalated. Is it an issue with AVG or rather W10 Insiders Preview build 10547 (or earlier 10532-6) ?
I t is importnat to claim the corrective action from correct Vendor.

Thanks

Thank you Divya.

However, an update for all concerned for my mental wellbeing. I followed the link in the email to the remote connection service. The customer service representative looked at my case history. He delightfully confirmed it had been escalated. The answer was please be patient they will be contacting me shortly. Obviously there definition of shortly is several weeks. In the meantime Microsoft has let me know that build 10547 is available for preview. So Microsoft can knock out a build of Windows in a couple of weeks yet AVG can't fix an install issue in 2 weeks. So to anyone who is following I recommend Avast. Simply because it installs and works with the preview builds of Windows 10, and it saves me 30 mins online via remote connection when I could have shut up shop and gone home for the day.

The End.

As an FYI - AVG does not install on the preview build 10547 either.
My case has been escalated and I have not heard anything.

I just performed a clean installation of Windows 10 with Windows 10 build 10586. Let me say this is a clean installation of Windows 10 with build 10586.

I then downloaded AVG AntiVirus Business Edition
avg_ipw_x64_all_2013_3532a10201.exe

When I installed AVG, I received the following error message during the installation
Setting of firewall registry keys failed
Severity: Error
Error code: 0xC0070643
Error message: General internal error.
Additional message: MSI Engine Failed to install the product.
@AVGMSI_Error27025
Setting of firewall registry keys failed (0xE0001003D)
Content: Installation of AVG Core, MSI action failed

Sounds to me that this is an issue with AVG's AntiVirus product.

Has this been answered? Just did a clean install of Windows 10 and tried to instal via the AVG Admin Console and keep getting the same error. I've tried everything listed with no luck.
KishoreKishore (Avast)
Hello Kevin,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Please check whether you have installed any other conflicting applications like McAfee, Avast etc.. on your PC, If so please uninstall the conflicting applications. If not, please run the  AVG remover tool : http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe to completely uninstall your previous installation of AVG program from your PC. Once uninstalled download the installation file using the link : http://www.avg.com/us-en/download to reinstall your AVG program.
Thank you.

I said it was a clean install of windows 10. Nothing else has been installed. I have done this twice now. The firewall has been disabled and Windows defenders too. Not sure what else I can do. I am using AVG Business 2013 to deploy AVG using the network install wizard.
Roy ThompsonRoy Thompson
I see over the past few months there have been several posts to my original issue. I eventually got tired of waiting and decided to install Avast which perfectly. However I've since tried a re-install of AVG and it now works ok, but the damage is done. The woeful response time to my original fault will mean I won't renew the license when it expires in February. Good luck to you all.

RESOLVED: The way I fixed the issue was to rename my domain machine. We are using AVG Business 2013. Once the Domain machine name was changed the install was flawless. Some background for AVG. This machine previously had AVG 2013 on it, I did a clean install of windows 10 without removing the machine from the AVG console. I named the machine the same as it was with windows 7 on it. I think AVG management console has something saved with the machine name. Even removing the machine from the admin console did not allow the install to complete. ONLY thing that worked was to rename the machine. I am sorry to say but I will be looking for a new product. I cannot be renaming all of our machine just to install AVG. Maybe this was fixed in AVG business 2016 but have not tested. I hope this helps people out I have spent way too much time on this with absolutely NO help from AVG.

A quick google search is what brought me to this page and was very similar to what was going on with my machines. I relize this might not be in the right section and I do thank you for at least pointing it out as AVG's last comment didnot. When I said AVG didnot help me I was talking about phone support. I really just wanted to post my solution to help others out.
