AVG IDENTITY PROTECTION SLOW

My laptop has been running slow for months to the point where it was unusable and I put it away in a cupboard. When I was desperate to use it (the PC was in use) I tried again and discovered the reason it was slow was AVG IDENTITY PROTECTION WAS RUNNING at 50%. I tried ending the task, turning it off within AVG but am not allowed to - there is something built into AVG to FORCE it to run and CRIPPLE my laptop. I don't want to turn off AVG but I am going to have to end my subscription and buy protection which I can control if I can't get this sorted. PLEASE HELP and tell me how to remove this.

Hello Simon,
We apologize for the inconvenience. This issue can happen due to conflicting application or incorrect update. We suggest you to reinstall the Microsoft redistributable file from control panel and also reinstall the AVG program in your computer and see if that fix the issue.
Please click on this link to download and run the AVG remover tool
http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
Note: Once the removal of AVG is complete, go to C Drive and delete the AVG remover folder. After which you can install AVG.
Thank you

ok, I've managed to remove AVG and could not find out how to install my original license now, if you go to the AVG website to download it asks you to buy it again. PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME. I've had to buy Malwarebytes instead to give me protection - how do I get my money back?

Simon,
We apologize that you were unable to reinstall your paid AVG. As per our records, you have an active subscription for AVG Internet Security-Unlimited devices. Please follow the steps in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection to download and install your paid AVG.
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Simon, If you continue with the 'paid' version of Malwarebytes it could conflict with AVG. Have a look @ this AVG article (http://avgclick.me/ConflictingApps).
