AVG icon not in task manager

For some reason on booting my various computers with Windows 7, the AVG Internet Security icon is no longer in the task bar (bottom right of desktop). It worked fine until a few days ago. The AVG tuneup icon is still there.  So I checked the task manager "services" tab and see this:

AvgAMPS - Stopped
avgfws - running
AVGIDSAgent - running
avgsvc - running
avgwd - running

Is AVGAMPS the problem?

If I start the AVG Internet Security from the 'Windows Start" button then the icon appears.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Hello Glenn,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. We suggest you to go to 'run' command (Windows+R), choose 'startup' menu and then check for AVG Internet Security in the list and let us know if it is checked or unchecked. Thank you.

I am not sure what you are asking. AVG Startup Manager?  The only AVG in that list is AVG Ui(Re)Starter and it is startup enabled.

Thank you for the information.
Actually along with the AVG UI, AVG Internet security process should also be listed.
The startup manager is related to Windows and you can setup which process should run on the Windows startup.
May I know whether you have installed our latest 2016 version of AVG Internet security program?
Also try repair installation of AVG program once by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY

About says AVG Internet Security Version #16.81.7640 Is this the current version?

Also, how do I add it to the windows startup?

Thank you for providing the version information, Yes it is the current version.
Actually AVG internet security process should always be running when the windows startup.
In your case some files of it would have got corrupted that is the reason it is not listed in the process.
We request you to  try repair installation of AVG program once by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY and check whether is running in the processes tab of task manager.

Actually, I reinstalled the program from the download on my AVG login and now the version is #16.91.7688.

It loads now but I found a problem. On the AVG Startup Manager, the AVG program is listed as "None" under the name. Is this correct?

Thank you for informing that you have reinstalled AVG.
Could you please provide the screenshot of the AVG Startup Manager, the AVG program is listed as "None"  so that we can assist you better?

Thank you for providing the screenshot.
We can understand that you are looking the startup programs on your AVG PC tuneup program.
The AVG UI  shown on the list is the AVG internet security program and on PC tuneup startup program list it will be shown only as AVG UI and not separately as AVG Internet security.
To know about "NONE" program please right click on it and select "Properties" and on the Target please find the path where it is installed.
It will have the program name so by seeing it we can confirm which program it is.

This is the information for "None" when I right click and look at properties.

Target Type: Application

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Av\avuirunnerx.exe" C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Av\avgui.exe

Section: Registry\All Users\Run


Also, the target for "AVG Ui (re)Starter is:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Framework\Common\avguirnx.exe" /lps=fmw

From this we can understand it is for the AVG internet security program and it is not recommended to disable it.
Do you still have the problem in accessing the AVG internet security program?

No. It seems OK. Now I need to reinstall on all the other machines I guess.

If you have issues in running the AVG program then please do reinstall it on your other PC's too.
For removal of AVG programs please use our AVG remover tool.
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.
3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C:\ drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.
