Windows Update blocked by AVG firewall

Hi,

Could someone please advise me what the steps are I need to take to allow 'Windows Update' to download the critical updates from Microsoft?

The applicatons listed in the logs which are blocked are 'FilterDevice' and 'SYSTEM'.  I've tried changing some of the rules in the applications list to allow but it hasn't helped.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Tim, I feel your pain too
For Balasubramanian:
This is happening to me as well.  It involves all six machines on my home network following the latest update - to "stick figure" splash screens . Windows update hung at 30%.  As a retired IT professional, the first thing I did was to disable AVG.  Surprise!  Windows update worked normally!
This is not the only issue with the latest upgrade - changing network profiles from private to public, amongst other things.  I would give the upgrade 3 out of 10 - unlike usual AVG practice, to be fair.  Needs more work.  Subramanian, please answer the question.
