Daniel Jumper AVG 2015 Free won't start or uninstall
I'm running avg 2015 free (version 2015.0.6176) on windows 8.1.
Recently my computer started going all kinds of haywire. Several applications failed to start on boot with error 0xc000005 and occassionally I couldn't log in at all. I couldn't even open task manager or cmd from the "run" prompt when trying to investigate/fix things. Things seemed pretty corrupted so I did a system restore to about a week ago before things started being funny. (I'm suspecting some windows updates may be involved that got reverted and I have not reinstalled yet). That was all for background, now to the AVG part:
After the system restore, when I log in I get a windows notification saying my antivirus is not active. When I try to open or run AVG, nothing happens. Not even a process appears in task manager details. So I figured I'd try to reinstall. I went to programs & features in control panel and tried to uninsall avg, but again, nothing happens. This time a process does appear (avgmfapx.exe), but no window or prompt opens. It just seems to hang indefinitely.
I'm not sure what I should do next. Should I just try to run a new installer? Or should I be trying to figure out why AVG is broken and won't run now? I have no virus protection in the mean time =(

We request you to try using our AVG remover tool and install AVG free antivirus.
1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation.
NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.
