I have had enough of your fucking pop-ups. :(

I have had enough of your fucking campaign crap. Your constant pop-ups are more annoying than any pop-ups your software is supposed to get rid of. I am better off not running your freaking selfpromoting shit at all.

It is amazing that you morons cannot make a piece of software, which is supposed to help us get rid of annoyances, without it being an annoyance itself.

I am now uninstalling your crap, and changing to another provider, that does not constantly spam their users with annoying pop-ups, and I am going to advice everybody I know to do the same.

Frank, If you post again on this Community please refrain from using any foul language!.
Thank you.

Hello Frank,

We do understand your concern but to promote our products we can do only through campaign popups. It is our only way of marketing our new programs.
We request you to submit your feedback to us via http://www.avg.com/product-feedback .
Thank you.
Frank BertelsenFrank Bertelsen
I am not going to submit feedback anywhere else. You have my feedback in this thread, and I already told you, that I have uninstalled your crap. I am not allowing anything to make pop-ups on my computer, no matter what it is, so you can stuff your campaign where the sun doesn't shine.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Frank, if you submit the feedback to us there is a chance for us to make any changes in the future. If you aren't interested to try the other programs of AVG from the campaign popups then please ignore such popups.
Thank you.
Frank BertelsenFrank Bertelsen
Ignore the pop-ups? Are you stupid or something? I am telling you that they are annoying. I cannot ignore something that annoys me. I have also told you that I have uninstalled AVG, so I do not get the pop-ups anymore, and I do not care what happens with AVG in the future, as I am not using it anymore. Why don't you read what I am writing? AVG is history for me.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Sorry, Frank. I meant to say that if you are going to use AVG you will be receiving the campaign popups so requested to ignore it. Sorry to know that you have uninstalled AVG. We will take your feedback seriously and try to bring changes in future.
Dragon DragonDragon Dragon
I agree with Frank sentiments though I'm far too polite to put it in quite those terms. But he is 100% correct these pop ups are worse than annoying, and you cant just ignore them if they are in the way,
you have to stop what you are doing to remove them.

I think you have made a big mistake with this campaign. I fully appreciate that you are providing a free service, and self advertising is to be expected, but once a week is perfectly acceptable, pushing it daily on start up is unacceptable, its spamming, and is more likely to make users determined never ever to buy anything from AVG.  The popups look and feel like malware, theres no information just the the statement that your security isn't complete and download now.

Once a week with a few lines to tell us what you are pushing and why we need it, would surely reap better results, instead of hitting the close button without even looking, a few of us might read the information and go and check it out on the website and decide to buy whatever it is.  As it is its a total waste of your time.

Frank BertelsenFrank Bertelsen
Once a week would not be okay with me. I never ever want to see pop-ups of any kind. It is intrusion, and it should be stopped. I am sick and tired of how everyone today forces unwanted ads and comercials upon us. You cannot browse the web, install programs, watch TV, or even walk on the streets without constantly having theese things shoved in your face. On my PC, at least, I will not tolerate any of that. This is why I have Adblocker running, and Greasemonkey with my own scripts, to get rid of everything I don't want to see. Unfortunately they cannot be used on things I download and run as separate programs, but then I can uninstall them (like I have done with AVG), and try something else that hopefully will not be intrusive. If it turns out to be, I will continue searhing for something else.

Another thing is that it is totally unnessecary to make pop-ups like these. I have used AVG for many many years, and I know that there is a paid version with extra features. I know this from visiting your site occationally. I know this from when I originally installed the free version. I did not learn about this from your stupid pop-ups. The only thing they have made me do is scrap your software and start using something else. If I wanted the full version, don't you think that I already would have it, and pay for it? It is like you don't use your brains. I do not need to have a reminder shoved in my face every day, and tell me that something exists. I only need to be told about something once, to know that it exits? This repetitive pushing stuff onto us: "won't you please please by the full version, then we will stop bothering you?" is nothing but annoying, and it doesn't work with me. You act like children, begging for something several times a day, until you hopefully get what you want in the end. Well, you won't get it from me, that is for sure.

Lol.  That would be a refreshing change.

AVG used to be the greatest by a LONG way.  Now it's more intrusive and annoying that some of the malware it's supposed to get rid of.  I'm uninstalling too.

Karthikeyan, are you stupid or something? Can't you get into your head that people are tired of annoying pop-ups? What the hell is lower frequency going to help? It is amazing that you cannot understand that you are irritating people with what you do, and cannot figure out that you have to stop it completely. You are doing everything to keep on pestering people against their will. FFS, there should be a law against such things. :-(

No it is not. Your main goal is to make money by forcing onto people something they don't want. Stop with your lies. If you want to keep your customers happy then stop with your selfpromoting annoyances.

I agree with you Frank. I am absolutely sick of AVGs popups.
Looked for ways to stop them but the only sure way seems to be to uninstall AVG
I am going to remove AVG as soon as I logout of this community Blog
Seriously pissed off with this software.

Try the following: Delete the folders Banners and Tuneup in the AVG installations folder. Create two empty files named Banners and Tuneup and make them read only. This way, when the installation tries to install new advertising crap, it is bloked from creating the two folders.

But better still: Switch to another virus protection.

Hello Frank,

We can understand your concern. You can setup the frequency for AVG marketing popups as mentioned in this article: http://avgread.me/29lFofA .

Same as that. Uninstalling this useless annoying crap. WTF? Stupid box in the corner which i cant even minimize meaning my PC is hijacked until AVG decides to finish its updates. The pop ups arejust too much. BYE BYE
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello John,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
The AVG campaign popup that appears should close when you click on the close button.
Unfortunately, in rare instances it may not respond.
We will help you with that. Have you tried reinstalling the AVG Protection program once?
Are you using the free, trial or paid version?

I was once a paying AVG subscriber, but no longer. Even with the full PAID version there were campaign pop-ups.

I don't mean to belittle you guys, but I design heavy workclass ROVs for the Oil and Gas industry. The last thing I have a need for on my HOME PC is to have your advertising thrown in my face as I'm trying to develop a new node-hub.

Grow up AVG.

I agree with every word of Frank, I have used AVG for many years and also recomended it to many people, but no more, it is so irritating and intrusive. I will be looking fo an alternative now to this pile of steaming crap.
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Stephen,
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If it is a paid version of AVG that you are using, you can disable campaign pop ups from AVG as suggested below.

Open AVG Internet Security, click on Menu->Settings->General->Pop- Ups. Then uncheck "Stop pop up offers for other AVG products".
Ubuntu Linux Bionic BeaverUbuntu Linux Bionic Beaver
I will never recommend antivirus to ANYONE. My recommendation? Use Linux!  Ubuntu is one, with the MATE desktop and looks a LOT like Windows. If Ubuntu isn't your cup of tea, Linux Mint is equally good (I digress, it's a Ubuntu derivative).

I had a friend one time who swore upon AVG and when I ran applications from GitHub, Sourceforge, PortableApps.com, etc., False positives every 30 seconds! Seriously? Is this how you treat the FOSS community? I had to boot a Ubuntu live USB on his AVG-encumbered computer just to get anything done. And AVG hosed my Ubuntu USB key because some file required for its operation in E:\casper (/media/some/mount_point/casper in Linux) was a Trojan? This was the squashfs file, the compressed live Linux environment, gone!

This is why y'all suck. AVG ruins computers. Linux saves them.

Hello Dragon,
My apologies for any inconvenience caused. The frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app (please open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > general > Pop ups > manage your pop ups). If you're using AVG Internet Security paid version, then you can uncheck the box "show pop up offers for other AVG Products" in general settings, it will stop all the AVG promotional pop ups.
Best regards,
Alok.

Screw this bullcrap software. I'm uninstalling it because it gives me insane amounts of pop ups and false positives. Get over yourself, you overzealous information thiefs.
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
We regret to hear that, Morgan.
Please let us know if it is a free or paid version of AVG that you are using.

Like so many I have been annoyed by the avg Pop-ups especially at start-up and getting a message to the effect "Renew Driver Updater".  Well I got rid of them:- 1. I logged into the avg website and unsubscribed to the software I no longer wanted. 2. Then went back to my PC Programme files and uninstalled avg Driver Updater.
Unfortunately avg and their different software applications and their own website they set-up for you the subscriber are not High Tech.  A true let down on such a brilliant idea of improving, protecting your PC to produce such an unproffesional personal website that does not recognise you the subscriber has subscribed within avg a package that now superceeds an old one.... could do better tut tut thanks anyway......I HOPE SOMEONE LISTENS so improvements can be made!

Hello Patrick,

Usually AVG provides pop up for other AVG programs in order to improvize/personalize the existing program. However, the program allows us to disable those notifications. If activation is not done properly, our program will notify you the same.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are glad to pass it to our concern team for consideration in future.

Hello Chris,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
However, we request you to refrain from using profanity in this public forum.
Let us clarify this for you. Many of our users find these offers useful: they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection.
We also handpick offers from our other products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience.
Also the frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app. See the 'How to Change the Frequency of Pop-Up Notifications' article for details how to change it.
Thank you for understanding.

Here here. Avira is looking good to me. I am sick of being asked to pay for things I am already paying for. It will goodbye very soon.

Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hi Tom,

If AVG program asks you to purchase the product, then the possibility is that the program is not recognizing your paid subscription.
In such cases, we request customers to perform activation from then users will not be getting notices to purchase the subscription for the ones that they have already paid.
Thank you.
lmao wtflmao wtf
tl;dr - avast/avg has dehabiliting amount of popups, even when you subscribe to their nonsense. don't bother wasting the internet on this garbage.

ROFLMAO!!!

I created an account just to write this. I used to use AVG years ago and was going to try it out again. After reading this thread, you guys are worse than the viruses I'm trying to protect my PC from.

This thread is coming on to 6 YEARS OLD!!! And you guys still haven't learnt so that can only mean that there aren't that many people leaving the platform vs joining/using to justify a change in business model. Hard selling must be working since you're still in business. But to treat the free users like second class citizens/peasants/dirt/slaves and telling them to just deal with it or do this to "lower" the frequency of pop up is just dumbfounding.

Basically, your business motto is, "We don't want broke asses or cheap bastards leeching off of our technology so we'll bombard you with unclosable popups until you comply. Even when you pay, sometimes you'll still get these popups! Enjoy!" or "PAY OR ELSE"

Wow! Just WOW! SMH

Hi lmao,

This isn't the experience we want you to have.
From your message, it is obvious that you're upset. We'd like to look into this & help you.

Thank you for your understanding in advance!
