How do I stop AVG 'Nagware'

I am having 'advertisements' for AVG products like Tuneup and VPN poping up in 'Game mode'.

When I am running full screen aplications like watching a movie or playing a game the popup appears despite selecting the option in 'advanced settings' (and disabling all notifications) it still appears at least 2 or 3 times a day.

Any other 'advertisement' doing this would be listed as either 'nagware' or 'malware', this really is unacceptable, the fact that I already own copies of both products as well as AVG Internet Security makes it worse.

Has anyone found a way to stop this happening without just uninstalling all AVG products and going elsewhere?

Hello Marcus,
We regret for any inconvenience caused. We would like to inform you that the pop ups are about currently running campaigns and you should not see them after 31st March. If you have any feedback to share with us, please share it here http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback . Thank you.

Hello Marcus,
The current campaign till 31st March is for our AVG Ultimate and it will be stopped once the date has reached.
If you have our AVG free antivirus program installed you will be getting the popup to try the trial version of PC tuneup and advanced AVG internet security and also for other AVG programs.
These campaign popups couldn't be stopped as it is our only way or marketing our products.
Please submit your feedback as suggested by Avinash.

Thank you for submitting the feedback Marcus,
Our concern team will surely take an initiative to sort this out.

Marcus, sorry to know that you have submitted the refund request for all of the AVG products that you have subscribed for.
This is indeed disappointing.
We will take this as a serious note and bring up changes in the future.

I got the "Form validation failed." error as I was leaving feedback, so I'll leave my feedback here.

Dear AVG,
I understand this is your ad campaign. I have heard you explain that you feel you need to show this to your paying customers, but this popup is doing a very bad thing. Your popup interrupts the work I am doing on the computer. I have been in a web browser, and I have been typing a reply to someone, or typing code to a program, feeding my virtal pets, or killing zombies... and your popup interrupts that. This interruption is very aggravating as your popup makes itself the active window.

I have been a paying customer of AVG, two computers for over 5 years, possibly more than 10. This current VPN ad campaign has tempted me to not renew my registration keys, and go use another Anti-Virus program. Some of my friends have told me that they have already stopped using your program because of these intrusive ads, and have switched to one of your compeditors.

Suggestion:
Run your popup in the background. Your ad already shows up as an icon on the taskbar. We could look at your ad when we are not busy in another active window.

The best way to stop this terrible software is to uninstall it. I just did this tonight after getting about 2-3 advertisements per day for the past few weeks, despite all notifications being disabled. I call this tranquility:http://prntscr.com/ambypk . AVG is acting worse than any virus I have ever run across !

I'm gone after 17 years, never to return.

Very effective advertising campaign, emailed my customers they've appreciated it too, over 230 of nearly 2000 replied within 4 hours with a clear and unanimous message:

Act like malware and you'll be treated as such.

avg.com is now blocked and your software has been removed permanently.

I'm also gone when my paid subscription ends in January. No, I don't want a Christmas present, no I don't want my system tuning up, NO I DON'T WANT POPUPS! Looking forward to uninstalling AVG malware...

I totally agree,   I did buy some program from you but right now with all the pop ups and nagware I regret it.   It's not even a week and it is VERY ANNOYING.   How do I shut it down.

Can I get a refund?
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
Hello, Mike.
We apologize for the delay in response. Many of our users find these offers useful. We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience.
Also the frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app or can be even turned off.
- Open AVG Internet Security.
- Click Menu - Settings - General - Popups.
- Uncheck - Show popup offers for the other AVG products (or another popups of your preference).
- Click on OK to save the settings.

If you continue to receive the pop ups even after this, please share a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of it. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Ive been using AVG for as long as I can remember, probably since it's inception. However Ive always use AVG free, so Ive contributed next to nothing, other than recommending it. it's a great program, and it's saved me from god knows how many problems.
That said, it's gotta go, the free version anyway. The ads are incessant. Im aware of how lame it is to complain about smething someone gives you for free. I actually came to the forum looking to see if I would still get these ads if I had a paid subscription. If i pay for the anti-virus i dont want any ads of any kind period. No offers, no alerts aboout how i can be safer. That's a pretty key feature for anti-virus/malware/popup programs.
Will paying for the upgrade completely eliminate all popups? I mean not the ones alerting me of a problem, promotional ones. If so im happy to upgrade, its the least i can do after all these years. If not, sincere thanks for keeping my computer safe, it's been swell.

Hi Al,

Yes, if you have use paid version of AVG Antivirus or Internet Security, it have option to disable the campaign popups of AVG.
You can find it under "Menu-->Settings-->General-->Privacy".
Uncheck the box that says "show popups for other AVG products" and click Ok.
If you would like to get assistance with the purchase, contact our sales support using this link http://avgclick.me/AVGsales .

Ok. I dont think it is unreasonable to advertise on a free product so it was not meant to be a complaint. I just wanted to be sure before I pay. Thank you for your speedy response

You are most welcome.
Thank you for understanding.
