Thank you for your reply. I have used the same procedure to set up the schedule. The description, however, does not include the  "wake computer on start of scan" option.
The sleep mode reason is just a guess.

So cannot figure out why automatic scan schedule does not take off, and have to start manually all the time. I prefer, as always with previous AVG versions, to schedule daily auto scans.
Please advise.

I've received your recommendation on doing diagnostics with AVG SysInfo tool. And I will try it.
Thank you.

In the mean time, I would like to reiterate the original problem:

"Cannot figure out why automatic scan schedule does not take off, and have to start manually all the time. I prefer, as always with previous AVG versions, to schedule daily auto scans."

Just now I've tried to be present when it was time for an automatic scheduled scan. In other words, my computer did not sleep when it was time to start auto scheduled scan. The automatic scan DID START.
It means that it's the issue of the sleeping computer. In the previous versions, there was an option to  "wake up computer on start of scan" . There is no such option in AVG 2017 Free . At least I cannot find it.
My computer goes to sleep when I am not working on it for some time.
So, if I schedule the auto scan for late night when I am not working and the computer is asleep, the auto scan does not take off.
And it defeats the objective of the auto scheduling.

If you could help me find the option to to "wake up computer on start of scan" in AVG 2017 Free, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Please advise

Thank you for understanding.
Please be informed that during the time of schedule scan the PC should be awake and active.
If it is put to sleep or turned off then the schedule scan will not take place.
We will check to the settings of the AVG Free 2017 and let you know whether the option is available for "wake up computer on start of scan".
Your patience is much appreciated.

Thank you for your time and patience answering my questions.

It was not an issue with the previous AVG options.
"Wake up computer on start of scan" has always been available previously.
Generally, all computers go to sleep when not active. And it means auto schedule is obsolete if it does not wake up the computer for scan.
I appreciate that you will check to the settings of the AVG Free 2017 and let me know whether the option is available for "wake up computer on start of scan".

Otherwise, I would probably restore the previous version.

Hello B K,
We apologize. There is not such option "Wake up computer on start of scan". If your computer is in sleep mode while the scan is scheduled, it will stop once you wake up the computer.
Thank you.

I was told by another community expert that AVG free users could not use the scheduled scan.  That it would never work.  My question is why and why are all the setting avaiable to schedule a scan.
