Same problem here;
After an avg update failed, the program failed as well, there after I tried to uninstall avg using windows, this didn't work. I used the official avg remove software from the site and that was a success.
Now trying to install avg free again it keeps on failing (Error code: 0xE001D029), On the web, or forum, I can see more people having the same problem but so far no solution.
I hope to fix it, as avg is the best suited for me, already for many years.
Thank you.

I work in busines tech support for AVG. Can one of you admins please post the instructions in the magic email you are sending to everybody here please?? It would make my life a heck of a lot easier. Thamk you.
A KA K

After wastnig an hour on the phone with support with another error code (the previous antivirus signature was still present becasue it wasn't removed with the correct tool), I was told that unless I paid for the support call, I couldn't be helped. After using the correct tool and managing to clear the error, this '
Error code: 0xE001D029 Description: Event exec_finished' keeps displaying and my installation never completes. So it would seem that after being told that the problem was one of my own creating that I would need to resolve, it appears that the root of the problem is this extremely well Known Issue, a product failing, and so a problem for AVG to resolve.

Now, I don't know if everyone who has encountered this issue has hd their problem solved by the magical email that keeps getting mentioned and so forgets to update the thread, or whether the Administrator is enjoying their role a bit too much, but I'm hoping it's the former! So I sincerely hope that I get this error resolving email and that after following the instructions, the product finally installs because the supposed 'support' that I've received from AVG over the past 24 hours -and general experience with the product- has been a shambles.

Hello A K,
We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused. I have just sent you an email with the instructions to get connected with our senior technician support team. Please connect with them to get further assistance. Thank you.
A KA K

Just to update that I received the magic email and after two further support sessions, now finally have the product installed. Been a long time coming, but I'm just happy that my device is now finally protected!
Anyone else coming across this error, check that:
1. In addition to uninstalling any previous antivirus s/w, even the current AVG one that you're trying to install, you've used the brand related removal tool to remove those files you don't have access to. Your system needs to be cleared of any trace of anti-v s/w.
2. You have at least 1.5-2Gb of space left on your C: for the program to install.
3. Windows isn't adding it to a blocked list or anything (but leave that for the engineers to investigate).

Other stuff was done by Support, but at least you can try out the first two steps w/o despairing first, to see if it resolves the issue before you call in the cavalry.

Hope this helps!

Hello Ramaiah,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Did you check the disk space on your C drive?
Do you have 1GB of free space on your drive?

Hello.
I have the same problems as everyone above. Installing AVG Internet Security and getting the message:
Error code: 0xE001D029
Description: Event exec_finished
I've tried the AVG remover tool (nothing detected) and downloaded the file for offline installation. The problem remains. What else can I do?
Thanks
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)

Hello,
I am Trying to install Free AVG Antivirus but I always get the Error code: 0xE001D029. I have the same problem when install Free AVG Protection. I have uninstalled the AGV using the AGV remover available at (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities) and started a new installation. However, I am still facing with the same problem when 86% of the installation is completed. I have No other A/V installed on my PC.
I would appreciate it if you could help me with this issue.

Hello Chuks,
The reason for this error code is there is no enough space on the C: drive for performing the installation. Please try free up more space on the C: drive or change the installation location to a different drive where you have sufficient space and then try to install AVG again.
feel free to let us know if you require further assistance. Thank you.
