Disable pop-ups?

AVG now spams an unbelievable number of pop-ups. I'd like to find a way to disable these. It's either that or find a new antivirus.

Hello, Eric.

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. Many of our users find these offers useful: they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection. By doing so, they help fund your free version of the protection.
We also handpick offers from our other products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience. If you have suggestions on how these offers might be more relevant to you or less intrusive, please provide it on our product feedback page here: http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback .

False, I have Ultimate and I still get popups. Popups for every program that is INCLUDED with ultimate.
Propus that my licence will expire in 289 days, renew now. -- WHY?
Worried about security, click here to buy avg security.-- WHY?
PC scan, click her to buy PC Scan.-- WHY?
ETC... Very very annoying.
There is an option for show popup offers for other AVG products that looks like unselecting it would do something, but No.
Other issue is when AVG updates the product, your settings get reverted to default. (exceptions you setup are cleared out.)

Hello,
Please accept my apologies with regards to the AVG software not living up to your expectations. The "expiry pop up" status on AVG interface issue was fixed in the recently released 18.2 version. Please open your AVG Internet Security program > Menu > about and look for the version of your installed AVG Internet Security.
Best regards,
Alok.

I appreciate that some users might find these popups useful, but I do not.  Is there any way to disable them?
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Eric, can you be specific on the popups that you are getting from AVG?
If you share the (screenshot) of a AVG popup, I will be able to provide a perfect solution.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

I am getting popups for everything, including "Some programs are slowing down your PC" or "Get longer battery life". They pop up every few minutes. I'm not even going to bother taking screen captures, since I just want them all disabled. Please, I would like a straight answer. Can I do this or not? Thank you.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Yes, if you have the paid version of AVG Antivirus/Internet Security, you will be able to disable campaign popups for other AVG products.
Open AVG Antivirus/Internet Security interface.
Click on "Menu-->Settings-->General".
To the right, click on "Popups" and uncheck the box of "Show offers for other AVG products".
Click Ok.

Ah I see. So the free version is no longer the viable, customer friendly AVG it used to be. This is very disappointing. I guess I will need to uninstall to stop the incessant popups. Thank you for your help.

Eric,
Please accept my apologies with regards to the AVG software not living up to your expectations. As informed in my initial post, if you have a suggestion or feedback on how these offers might be more relevant to you or less intrusive, please provide it on our product feedback page here: http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback .

I just took a moment and filled out that product feedback page. I hope my comments are taken to heart. I really didn't want to have to uninstall AVG after so many years of using it, but feel I have no choice if I cannot prevent it from being so instrusive and aggressive in its prompts/advertising. A free program is not a demo or a trial for a paid one. It should be a viable product on its own.

Thank you for taking time to provide your valuable feedback, Eric.

It shows how rubbish the Avast/AVG Support is when they ask users what pop-ups are you getting, come on you should know everything about the product and company you work for!

No one likes these pop-ups and also AVG breaks GDPR Laws as they have not given users consent and opt-in. I have reported your company to ico dot org. You will recieve a legal email in the coming days!
AvinashAvinash (Avast)
John, sometimes we may ask for more information to understand your issue better and provide you with a quick resolution. We might not be able to help without having seeing what exactly is happening on your end. This is the reason we ask for screenshots of the pop ups that you receive.

We'd also like to inform that we are GDPR compliant. Please visit the following webpage https://www.avg.com/en-us/gdpr to submit corrections to your data.

I agree with Eric.  I've been using AVG Free for years with faith and trust that I was in good hands.  It is disappointing to see that it has come to this.  Not Photobucket-disappointing, but you guys should feel a little ashamed.  I'm uninstalling.

Who enjoys spam? Pretty sure these was a study about pop ups in the 90s and how people HATE SPAM..................................................................

Dear AVG... THE POPUPS ARE SPAM AND ARE VERY ANNOYING TO THE POINT I MAY DROP MY SUBSCRIPTION IF YOU DON"T SCALE THEM BACK ! ! !

Hi Jordan,

This is not the experience we want you to have.

You can stop this campaign pop ups from AVG by following the below instructions:

Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > General > Privacy > uncheck both "show offers for our other products" and "show offers for 3rd party products".
Michael NybyMichael Nyby
To the contract workers; you should stop repeating the line about we don't want you to have this or that experience.  It shows fault with the service this company is asking you to provide.

That is Number One.

Number Two is that the post above about this company being GDPR compliant will be of little help to this company if they keep using false advertising.

What do I mean?  My computer has had 262 problems of clutter for a very long time and I would bet a gold bar that a whole mess of other customers have 262 problems related to clutter and so we can easily prove that is absolutely false.

Either that, or the Net God is frowning upon AVG/Avast and is giving trouble to your program that is checking for clutter on all our computers; meaning your own computers are being manipulated by the Net God to make AVG/Avast look like a bad company.

False advertising has been frequently identified by courts in many nations around this planet as bad, bad, bad and has caused large fines and worse to be placed upon companies by very good and respectable judges.

Eventually, those same right we consumers have in the brick-and-mortar world will be extended to the Internet.  There is no doubt that will happen.  The first companies that figure that out and adjust their style appropriately will be the ones that regain the trust of us Net Citizens.  Would be neat if this were one of those companies.

But some of us will help you along.  This post is one bit of help.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Michael, thank you for your post. We are always ready to get feedback or suggestions regarding our products and campaign popups.
We assure you that, AVG will never advertise falsely. The PC clutters found on your computer is the campaign for AVG TuneUp product which will explain that these can be cleared, if you get tuneup as they would affect your PC's performance.
If the number of clutters shown on your PC are incorrect, then we could work on it and make sure that the details appearing on our campaign popups are accurate.

We would like to know about Net God as we are unsure how it would affect our campaign popups or the information shown on it. It would help us if you provide an explanation for it.
Michael NybyMichael Nyby
Firstly, sir, thank you for your post.

Secondly, could you please confirm to me that you are stating that if AVG is indicating to the right of that orange triangle that I have 262 issues of "clutter" on my computer that number is accurate because this company has checked my computer?  Thank you.

Michael, we apologize for the confusions caused.
We would like to inform you that the campaign message appearing on the user interface will not produce you an accurate results.
This is to let our customers about our AVG TuneUp product. Many of our customers are not aware that we offer a separate product to resolve PC's performance issues.
Thank you for your understanding.

It is amazing how unresonsive and uncaring AVG is about this issue. It is not like you get a very occasional promtional pop-up.  They are constant.  I don't understand how annoying and irratating your users is a good idea.  Do you really think you are going to convince me to get the paid version with your endless pestering?  No.  What you get me to do is uninstall.  Then every few weeks I re-install and run a virus check.  Then uninstall again.  It is not ideal - but 1000x better than dealing with the endless promotonal pop-ups - that as another poster pointed out are often deceptive.
