AVG programing clogging my computer

My computer tech told me that AVG has clogged my computer with programing and I was wondering how to eliminate unnecessary programs.

We're here to help. Do you mean AVG is consuming more CPU resources? If yes, let us know which AVG program are you using and share a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of Windows task manager showing the high CPU usage.

I do not know what a CPU resource is  and I do not know how to share a screenshot of windows task manager. I am using AVG free

Task manager in your PC will monitor all the running processes on your PC and monitor how much CPU resources are allocated to your PC. We need to confirm that AVG is really consuming high CPU usage to proceed further.

You can review and uninstall the unwanted applications as per the steps in this link.

If you believe that AVG is consuming high CPU resources, please take your technician's help and provide us the requested information.

I am sure. I don't even have a screenshot key on my computer. I have a toshiba laptop. The button next to my F12 button says INS scroll lock.

My AVG  antivirus now reads 19.5MB on my task manager. Is that what it should be? Did you re-install AVG Free antivirus?

Crysty, it should be around 300 MB. Let's remove the traces of AVG as mentioned here (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product).
Re-install the program by visiting our official website (https://www.avg.com/en-us/installation-files) and check the status.

I have no idea where to find this AVG removal tool and all these website are like trying to understand a foreign language. I am not familiar with how AVG programming works. Can't you deal with it from your end. Also my MG's before all this started was 212 ish. and now you are telling me they need to be 300 MG. My initial problem was AVG was clogging up my computer. Why would I want more MG's to clog it up more?

Crysty, we apologize  for the previous information.
The information we provided was regarding the minimum disk space required to install AVG.
However, 19.5 M usage by AVG Antivirus is the normal behavior. Whenever a virus scan is performed, this might increase a little.
If you see the high CPU usage by AVG again, do proceed with the uninstallation.

Regarding the remover tool, please use this link to download the remover tool http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
Run the file and click on run any way, if it doesn't show any products.
For AVG Clear tool, use this link https://install.avcdn.net/avg/iavs9x/avgclear.exe
Run the file and when you get AVG clear window loading, you will get a prompt with Yes and No option. Click on "No" and then select "Uninstall" to proceed with the removal.
Restart the PC when the prompt appears and then install AVG Antivirus free as mentioned in this https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free article.

I'm confused, do I need to uninstall program or not?  Today my CPU is 0%  and my Memory is 212 mb in AVG Browser. My AVG anivirus is 0% CPU and my Memory is 32 mb is this normal.

If the CPU usage is low, you need not perform a re installation.
