How can I temporarily disable AVG Free?

I use ver. 17.2.3008.

Richard,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. To disable your AVG program temporarily, you can right-click the AVG icon in the system tray next to the clock, it will gives you the option to disable/ enable your AVG program.

Or to disable your AVG program with each components, please open your AVG Internet Security and click on Menu options, choose "components" tab and there you have the options to enable/ disable AVG components.

By default, scanning for PUP is disabled. Because, it will detect the unwanted extensions but most of our customers complained that they would like to install some extensions where AVG blocks them. So, we left that option to be selected by your self.

If AVG signature is enabled, it will send the signature along with your email. It includes that your email is scanned by AVG and it doesn't contain any threats.

If you would like to share your feedback http://avgclick.me/AVGfeedback or ideas with AVG, we would appreciate it. Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.

Thank you for your answers, However, the instructions to right-click the AVG icon for an option to disable AVG are inaccurate. Perhaps they apply to a former version. Please provide the correct instructions.

Also, I don't understand the explanation for why PUA scanning is disabled by default--unless the "scanning" includes blocking. If an application is scanned and not blocked, your explanation does not hold.

Finally, I don't understand your explanation of the AVG signature. Could you kindly provide a sample of such a signature, and tell me where it will appear.

Hello Richard,

You can disable each components of latest version of AVG separately.
Please click components at the top of the AVG window. It will open list of components. You will have disable or uninstall option available for each components.

PUP scanning option is disabled by default in AVG settings. Potentially unwanted programs are usually installed legitimately as a part of another program. There are some situations where a user may feel that the benefits of a potentially unwanted application outweigh the risks. You can enable or disable this option when you required it.

If you have enabled email signature for incoming and outgoing emails, you will get a signature in your email which shows your email is not infected.
Please get back to us if you have any further queries.
Thank you.

The AVG article is incorrect, at least for my version, as stated in my previous post. You'll quickly see that if you try it with the AVG version I'm using.

Hello Richard,
It seems that you have installed 2017 version of AVG in your computer.
You will have an option to disable AVG components if you click on " Components".
Unfortunately you will not have the disable AVG option in the new version.
Thank you.

This is outdated and should be removed. There is no "components" option in the settings. IF anyone can answer the question how to simply disable AVG, that would be great. I am a computer guy and I don't see a simple option. I don't have AVG Internet Security  in my system tray next to my clock either.

Hello Curtis,
Please refer this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus)for step-by-step instructions to disable the AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus FREE on your PC.
If it is Mac, you need to manually disable all the features.
