Hi

I've installed the newest AVG Version (AVG_Antivirus_Business_x64_752.exe) on a small Business Server 2011 today but I cant find the regkey. What I am doing wrong? Do I need a reboot.

Thats the key I am searching for:

Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat" Value="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc" Type="REG_DWORD”

best regards,

Hi,

Chiming in to say the latest version of AVG Business Edition 16.161.8039 does not set the registry entry either. This issue doesn't seem resolved.

I have AVG Ultimate on my home Windows 10.  Just checked the registry and the key has not been applied.  Are you still on holiday?

Jan says that AVG "is adding the registry key since 1/3/2018". What we really want to know is when you will have completed this process.
Please share that with us.

"...adding the registry key since 1/3/2018".  What does that mean?  You're in the process but haven't completed adding it?  For what products?  When will you be actually providing updated products or patches?  Will you be notifying customers and/or making any public statements about what your users can/should do?  Etc.
Microsoft evidently does not agree that AVG is compatible.
Please inform users/public.

I also have AVG Ultimate on my Win 10 Home, but Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat" Value="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc" Type="REG_DWORD” is not in registry and my Windows do not get Microsoft patch due to teh lack of key. Please advise / fix.

Hi guys,

AVG 2017 is compatible with the Windows patch and we protect against the malware since December 2017 and it is storing the required keys into the registry since Jan 3rd, 2018.

Regards,
Bhuvana, AVG Customer Care.
Mario ArnušMario Arnuš
Dear AVG team,
it seems there is some misunderstanding as you repeatedly say it is solved while it definitely is not solved - at least on my AVG Ultimate on Windows 10 and apparently there are other users who claim the same. The key Microsoft states as needed for the meltdown patch to be installed is NOT present in my registry. According to settings update tab the AVG program was last updated on December 21st, 2017. and its version is 17.9.3040 (build 17.9.3761.0). I was also chekcing for updated version, but it says my version is up to date.
As I am paying customer and not using free version of your product, I urge you to solve this asap.

Thank you.

At least for Internet Security, the answer from AVG is correct. At my machine the registry key is created since at least yesterday when I checked it.
Mario ArnušMario Arnuš
Glad ot hear it. Can you please tell what version you have and when was the last program update you had?
Alok KumarAlok Kumar (Avast)
Hello Mario,
Our latest version of AVG Internet Security is 17.9 and it was released on last week of December 2017. However, AVG 2017 is compatible with the Windows patch and we protect against the malware.
Best regards,
Alok.

Can confirm with AVG dev comment hat version that installed 21st December has added the key to the registry.

To the person above tey using regedit and use find on QualityCompat i struggled to see it looking manually but search found it fine

Greetings to all.

I've followed closely the various answers to the problem, as I was stuck also regarding the missing registry key. I eventually uninstalled AVG (free version, in my case), in order to give a go with avast (which is said to have settled the problem). As soon as I restarted the computer, Windows jumped on the security update and created the registry key. From there, since the AVG team confirmed in this thread that the software was compatible, I made a clean install afterward, and since I have no blue scren error so far, I can only conclude that it was a rather good workaround. I don't know if it can help some of you, but there it is, seems to have worked for me.

Hello Mike,
We have confirmed with our development team that the AVG 2017 is compatible and adding the registry key since 1/3/2018.

Hello Jean,
Thank you so much for providing your suggestion in this regards.
Best regards,

Thanks, but in my registry there is no such "QualityCompat" key. I searched the whole registry. So I will try uninstall/install method.
Mario ArnušMario Arnuš
Actually, it seems it was enough to start "Uninstall", then repair the installation. Now I have the key in registry and update is downloading. Thanks to all.

Hi

I already check and the registry is there

I just want to ask something Microsoft say if we get the update and our antivirus don't have the registry/not compatible it can cause blue screen error. What if the otherwise happen the antivirus have the registry or laready compatible for the patch but I don't update the windows patch (cause my internet quota is limited) can it cause blue screen error too ?

Bhuvaneswari VairavanBhuvaneswari Vairavan (Avast)
Hello Erick,

Please be informed that AVG new version is compatible with Windows patch and it will not cause blue screen error on your Pc.
Erick PomadaErick Pomada
sorry if my explanation not clear
i know AVG already compatible with windows new patch, what im trying to ask what if i didnt update my windows yet?

my avg already the latest version, i already get the registry to receive update, but i didnt update my windows yet. so the question is

will AVG ( the one that already compatible to windows latest patch) still working okay even if i didnt update my windows to the latest version?
Shankara MoorthyShankara Moorthy (Sitel)
Hi Erick,
I get your point. AVG will work good even though you did not update the Windows update patch. The possible issue we might face here is your computer is open to vulnerabilities. I would recommend you to do Windows update immediately once your Internet data limit is increased. This will ensure that your computer is fully protected.
Thanks, Shankara.

This helped me.... I contacted AVG about 2 machines I have...one got the regkey upon an AVG update and reboot. My other machine  did not and there didn't appear to be any update for AVG. I contacted, via chat, AVG support. The 2 people I chatted with seemed to be cluesless as to what the issue or the fix was. The first support person directed me to  " check for windows updates," I told him that .I get a message saying that there is no updates available  Then he told me "you need to contact microsoft".

The 2nd Tech I chatted told me That "to resolve this you can disable AVG and update your windows."

Neither solution seemed correct. I stumbled acfcros one of the forums that suggest to try and do a repair of AVG the reboot. I trried that and lo and behold after the repair reboot, the regky was installed. I was then able to get the windows update KB4056892 which address the meldown issue

Well it wasn't working for me, I couldn't get the registry key and telling it to update did no good.

Today I just figured out that my AVG Internet Security Version: 16.151.8013 is an older version and telling it to update does not make it the safe/fixed 2017 version.  But downloading the newest version from AVG kept my license and expiration date.  And now I have the registry key. YMMV

We appreciate your efforts, Gary.

Please confirm whether you could download windows update without any error after reinstalling AVG to the latest version.

What is the version number that is updated version, so that I can verify that my computers have the latest software version?

The latest version that I can download and install for AVG Internet Security Business Edition and AVG File Server Edition is 16.161.8039.

Is this version compatible with the MS Patch for Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities?
