AVG anti virus for Mac 10.11.6 blocks Firefox

You ahve recently upgraded my AVG installation, with no warning.  Now Firefox is blocked with security issues on all searches in the web.  Safari is not affected.  I have disabled the web item and now Firefox works well.  I have uninstalled AVG and reinstalled it twice and each time the same problem occurs with Firefox.
For the time being I am leaving AVG off my system.

I have tried to enter the command in Terminbal both with and withoput the space in ApplicationSupport and neither works.Terminal screen as requested.

I understand the inconvenience.
This issue has been reported by few of our customers and it seems to be because we are adding AVG certificate into the Firefox.
We request you to restart your Mac and check whether Firefox browser is working.
Keep us informed about the status.

Rebooting the Mac has no effect.  Still AVG blocks Firefox.

Thank you for trying it out. Please run the following command in the terminal: "/Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/hub/usermodules/020_ cert.sh " start and restart the computer. Now verify your issue with AVG Web Shield enabled.

The suggested command is not accepted by Terminal. See below:

Anthony, please do not leave the space between "Application support". Use this command line "/Library/ApplicationSupport/AVGAntivirus/hub/usermodules/020_cert.sh"  and check if that fix the issue.

There is no space in the command line between ApplicationSupport and the command is still not accepted.  On my Finder I can see the file 020_cert.sh is present in the ApplocationSupport folder.

To be sure whether you have entered the following command correctly "/Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/hub/usermodules/020_cert.sh" start
If the error appears still, please provide the screenshot of terminal window with the command entered and the error message.
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Thank you for providing the screenshot and I appreciate your extended efforts so far.

This issue is most likely caused because we are adding AVG certificate into the Firefox. We would request you to try and add the AVG certificate to Firefox manually to resolve the issue. To start with, it is necessary to obtain a copy of the certificate.

This can be found with Keychain Access with Keychain "login" and category "Certificates". Search for "avg". You should find "AVG trusted CA". Select it and export it from the menu bar under "File" then "Export Items...". Save it somewhere accessible.

Now, the certificate needs to be added to Firefox's certificate manager.
Open Firefox's Preferences > Privacy & Security tab. Scroll down to Security > Certificates. Open "View Certificates...". Click on "Authorities" then "Import...". Import "AVG trusted CA" and trust it to "identify websites". You can select "identify mail users" if you want.

I have found the AVG Trusted CA, it was under the entire set of KeyChain entries.  I have piut into the Firefox Certificates as requested, re-opened AVG software and the same problem is still present.

I have exactly the same problem.

Firefox doesn't work correctly with https sites. The only way to make it work is to turn off the Web Shield from AVG Antivirus on my Mac.
Safari works correctly.

So ? AVG have made some changes... How will you correct that problem ?
Without asking us to do some complex technical things as you did in that post ?

I have exactly the same problem as Xavier D and I do not understand why you at AVG can not make changes to AVG so that it will work on both of my MAC computers.

I am not a computer repair person and do not posess the knowledge to do what you have suggested to others to correct a problem that AVG has created with their upgrade.

Avg should correct the problem they created !!!

What are we to do ?????

I'm sorry for delay in responding to you. From the screenshot which you have provided  We would request you to try and add the AVG certificate to Firefox manually to resolve the issue. We could not find the path in, nor the used command start for the script. I request you to follow the below instruction again and let us know the status:

Unfortunately i wasa troo optimistic.  The same problem still occurs with Firefox when the web scan part of AVG is implemented.  In addition the web pages appear in Text and not with Graphics.

Have you tried to add the AVG certificate to Firefox manually to resolve the issue? If not please follow the steps given by Mr. Avinash to resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, please let me know the version of AVG Program and a screenshot of the web pages which appears in Text to assist further.

I have been talking to AVG about this issue in the last 30 minutes and I was told that they only provide "live" support to Window OS but not IOS.  I am not a technical person and I echo Anthony's sentiment - this is apparent AVG's issue, why can't you guy provide the solution instead of asking users to mug around with the system?  It is very frustrating.

Could you tell me if you have tried reinstalling the AVG Anti-Virus on your Mac? If not, please reinstall it and check if that fixes the issue. Here are the articles with the steps:

I had the same problem.  It took ALL MORNING to fix it.  This was completely unacceptable.  I was able to follow the steps outlined to export the certificate; however, when I tried to add it to Firefox, it claimed it was already there.  Since AVG has clearly poorly constructed this to begin with, I deleted the existing certificate in Firefox, quit Firefox, reopened, and added the certificate from Keychain.

Now I'm going to look into other antivirus software.

I have been looking for solution on this forum in the last few days and it looks like this question has been rasied several times from several other people.  All (including me) reported that the uninstall/reinstall didn't work.  For the record I did uninstall AVG, which caused Firefox to work, but when I reinstalled, it stopped working again!  So what does it says, it says that for some reason, your software is not working.  Please give me a suggestion that will actually solve the problem, but not ask me to repeat steps that either do not work, or waste my time doing all kind of troubleshoot - this problem is so widespread and universal that your development team should really escalate it and give an update ASAP.

I am a lawyer, but not a computer technician or software engineer.  So, I have no idea what you are asking me to do.  Plus I really don't want to muck around with my MAC and cause other troubles.  It's equivalent you ordered some takeout, when the food arrived, part of it was not cooked, and the restaurant just gave you some descriptions of how to finish the cooking - how does that work?  

My Firefox was working before the AVG upgrade, and you guys should be able to provide a universal fix to all the Mac users who are affected by it.  That is what my subscirption is for.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have already reported this to our development team, they have confirmed it as a Bug and working hard on a fix. The issue will be fixed in next AVG version updates. In mean time, we are providing troubleshooting steps for this issue.

This is really not a solution for normal user  - nevertheless I tried to follow you. 
But I got a error message after clicking on importing the AVG - Certificate
(I am German, thus the Message is german), see the picture.

Question: When will be there a solution/fix in the avg-Software for "normal" User?
