Best thing is for AVG to sort out the problem. There has in the past been times that AVG has not found the problem and Malwarebytes has and vis-versa. Why change things now? To upset customers or force them away to another Antivirus that can run as AVG used to be able to with Malwarebytes. This move of yours is a good way to lose customers!

Hello Alfredo,
Please be informed that the recent update of AVG Internet Security will conflict with the 3rd party antivirus program. It is advised not to keep more than one anti virus program on your computer because it keep conflict the other anti virus from installation and protection. Hence we request you to remove Malware bytes via control panel, reboot the PC and check if it works.
Keep us informed about the status.
Thank you.

We buy the other license and now for an update being that malwarebytes is neither anti virus, I have to remove ... it always worked now that you are coming with that to block

Alfredo, Please be informed that the free version of Malwarebytes doesn't have the resident protection hence there is no issue running together with AVG. However, the paid version of Malwarebytes has a resident protection which is causing AVG to run in passive mode. So I would request you to uninstall Malwarebytes to activate AVG on your PC or disable the Malwarebytes resident part.

Hello Alfredo,
Yes, I understand that Malwarebytes and AVG previous version was working at the same time. Since AVG 2017 version we do not recommend our customer to have two antiviruses programs at the same time. Because a competing antivirus program that is monitoring and sending information about your system tends to look like a virus, so it will attempt to block and remove each other. When an antivirus program encounters a virus, it removes it and quarantines it. But if a competing antivirus program sees that quarantined file and wants to remove and quarantine it in accordance with its own objectives, then it will repeatedly send reports and notifications about this virus that it is detecting, even though it is no longer actually a threat to your system.

If you don’t want to continually get bogus warning messages, this will be a problem for your computer. Antivirus programs use a lot of your system memory to conduct system scans and other related operations. If you have two of these operating simultaneously, your system’s effectiveness can be greatly diminished or completely wiped out altogether, and without any benefit, since the two are performing redundant operations. When it comes to protecting your computer, more protection is not better.
Best regards,
Alok.

Over the last 2 or 3 months it seems that you, AVG, have stepped up rolling out a series of "enhancements" that are basically ruining the product for me.  I'm a long time AVG user who is extremely disappointed.  It seems you put out program updates on a whim, and every time you do, my customized firewall settings go right down the toilet.  I've already been told to uninstall and reinstall the firewall, so don't hand me that again.  I shouldn't to reset my firewall every time an update comes through.  This latest garbage with the incompatibility with Malwarebytes is just another example.  And where are notifications to the customer base, prior to unleashing all this confusion on us?  I've never received as as much as a single email alerting me to and detailing all these changes that keep coming.  I'm in the middle of a 2 year subscription that doesn't end until December of 2018.  I would like to know if I cancel my subscription will I be able to get a refund for my second, unused year.  I cannot begin to describe how disappointed and frustrated I am.  I've recommended AVG countless times over the years to friends and co-workers, but no more.  You guys have really blown it.

TO ALL:
Al the brilliant solution listed in this board are considered guess work. I have all the removal tools that was in existance since 2005. None of this works when AVG anti virus did the unanouce upgrade. If you are the owner of a computer with a brand name such us DELL,HP,LENOVE,ETC the quick solutions is to restore your computer to factory defaul and hope that you have a good backups of all the applications that you have added to your computer. Backing up your registry is one protection that should done once in a while. I have advice all my clients to stay away from the recent updates but some are pretty much automatic. So good luck to all.

Those of us that purchased AVG are in a bind as MalWare Bytes, not a real AV program, needs to be uninstall so AVG will come out of passive mode. What part of MWB does one shut off I don't know.
There are a list of files posted on the MWB web site that were supposed to solve the problem, but hasn't done so. I know because I added them to the "exclusion list" and it didn't help.
The update and scan times are never correct, even if a scan or update was just done!
I wonder if the tech people at AVG will figure out the problem instead of telling all it's customers that you can't install other programs because they say so. Just a cop out! Call it what you will, but I for one will install any software on MY computer. If it conflrcts, I will find another that doesn't.
Since software companies never talk to each other, conflicts will happen, most likely intentionally by one or the other. Reputations are usually made or broken with how good their software is in relation to others, along with support. I think AVG has done their best to break their promise, as I called the live voice number and was asked to spend $300 for yearly online support that I did't need and they wouldn't give me as an end user unless I paid $75.00. Warrenty??? NOT! I guess that deafness and GREED runs rampant at AVG! Symantec System works crashed my computer, and Symantec said oh well too bad. You must have done something wrong. That was install System Works. That is why I went with AVG. Now I think it's time for something else to try.
Too bad for AVG. Fix this and I might stay as a customer, but your attitude seems muddy at best. You can contact me if you like at my time, not yours.

Hi AVG Crew......I hope your going to fix YOUR problem with AVG.....because both my partner AND I have run both programs for quite some time....meaning years!! And until your latest update everything was working fine. As AVG gets what Malwarebytes misses and Malwarebytes gets what AVG misses....which I would like to point out is quite a fair bit!! And also I would like to point out that we pay for BOTH AVG AND Malwarebytes..... So unless you are prepared to fix your problem that you have created for so many people, you are going to lose a large portion of your current customers because they are not happy with your program....and that WILL include us!!

Hello Lisa,

I understand how difficult this is for you. If your AVG program goes into passive mode with Malwarebytes enabled, then please follow the below steps in your Malwarebytes and check if that fix the issue.
Open Malwarebytes, click on Settings->Scroll down the page and uncheck the option "Show Malwarebytes in Windows action center. Once this is done, please restart the computer and check if AVG is out of passive mode.

Struggling with non-AVG technology? We can fix that, too!
