Definition update notifications

Hi I have AVG Anti Virus on my Mac. i've done my best to turn off any non essential notifications but it feels like i constantly get notifications that the AV Definitions have been updated.

While this is , ultimately, good news, that the updates occur a few times a day id rather not be notified, my preference is for AV to be a product that does a very important job, silently behind the scenes and only tells me about things i must intervene with. if i want to ensure the defs are up to date i'd rather open the application and find out. - or notification of a failed update but not a successful one is more relevant/appropriate to me... this is when there's a problem.

how could i turn this off?

Mike, notifications are received using system notification - it can be disabled in the system settings as described at https://goo.gl/Rj5iKB. At the moment, it's basically all or nothing however we are working on a better solution.

I'm also continuing to have this problem, desite AVG sayign that recent updates have solved it. They have not.  Despite having AVG turned off completely in the Notifications pane of System preferences in MacOS, I am still getting CONSTANT, distracting notifications popping up in the corner of my screen informing me of definition updates.  I DON'T CARE!  Please fix this bug to stop this.

Christopher, we will certainly check this for you.

Please share me the screenshot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361 of the pop-up you receive to assist further.

I don't know what I could possibly screenshot and how this would be value-added. The notifcation that my virus definitions have been updated pops up at multiple, random times during the day. It appears in the upper right corer of the screen for a second (just long enough to be distracting) and then disappears. I would be useless to screenshot the fact that in the Notifications pane of System Preferences all of the boxes are unchecked as AVG Antivirus is not authroized to show notifications but they still occur anyway.

Thank you for the information.

May I know the version of AVG and Mac installed on your computer?

I would like to solve this problem as well. I have almost all notifications turned off on my MacBook so that I can focus on my work without distraction. Constant virus definition update notifications are very annnonying but I'm hesitant to turn them off in case there is a virus alert. I'm using Mac Mojave OS v10.14.1 (18B75) with AVG AntiVirus v 18.6 (07d9fcd7a8ed). Being able to work uninterrupted is really very important to me but so are virus treats. Please solve this.

Hello Grant,
We can certainly take a look into this. Could you share a screenshot of the AVG Pop up to proceed further?
