I am getting this same issue too Error code: 0xE001D029 Description: Event exec_finished
I have already uninstalled the old versions of AVG, tried reinstalling the new one as well as the offline install using the link from earlier in this thread, and I keep getting the same issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. In this case, we have sent you an email with further instructions to be followed to get our additional support. Please check for the email on spam or junk folders if it is not present in the inbox.
Hello Ak, I have sent you an email with further instructions to be followed to get our additional support. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance. Thank you.
Hello everyone. I also had problem with this error. In my case problem was with disk space. I have changed system partition volume by 100 GB (using Windows tool) and then installed AVG without any errors. I`m using Windows 7 64 bit.
I work in busines tech support for AVG. Can one of you admins please post the instructions in the magic email you are sending to everybody here please?? It would make my life a heck of a lot easier. Thamk you.
After wastnig an hour on the phone with support with another error code (the previous antivirus signature was still present becasue it wasn't removed with the correct tool), I was told that unless I paid for the support call, I couldn't be helped. After using the correct tool and managing to clear the error, this ' Error code: 0xE001D029 Description: Event exec_finished' keeps displaying and my installation never completes. So it would seem that after being told that the problem was one of my own creating that I would need to resolve, it appears that the root of the problem is this extremely well Known Issue, a product failing, and so a problem for AVG to resolve.
Now, I don't know if everyone who has encountered this issue has hd their problem solved by the magical email that keeps getting mentioned and so forgets to update the thread, or whether the Administrator is enjoying their role a bit too much, but I'm hoping it's the former! So I sincerely hope that I get this error resolving email and that after following the instructions, the product finally installs because the supposed 'support' that I've received from AVG over the past 24 hours -and general experience with the product- has been a shambles.
Hello A K, We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused. I have just sent you an email with the instructions to get connected with our senior technician support team. Please connect with them to get further assistance. Thank you.
Just to update that I received the magic email and after two further support sessions, now finally have the product installed. Been a long time coming, but I'm just happy that my device is now finally protected! Anyone else coming across this error, check that: 1. In addition to uninstalling any previous antivirus s/w, even the current AVG one that you're trying to install, you've used the brand related removal tool to remove those files you don't have access to. Your system needs to be cleared of any trace of anti-v s/w. 2. You have at least 1.5-2Gb of space left on your C: for the program to install. 3. Windows isn't adding it to a blocked list or anything (but leave that for the engineers to investigate).
Other stuff was done by Support, but at least you can try out the first two steps w/o despairing first, to see if it resolves the issue before you call in the cavalry.
Glad to know that your issue got resolved. Thank you for sharing the workaround. Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance. Have a great day!!!
Hello Jo. We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. Have you tried to run the remover tool as mentioned on this thread as a first step and let us know the status. Thank you.

After wastnig an hour on the phone with support with another error code (the previous antivirus signature was still present becasue it wasn't removed with the correct tool), I was told that unless I paid for the support call, I couldn't be helped. After using the correct tool and managing to clear the error, this '
Error code: 0xE001D029 Description: Event exec_finished' keeps displaying and my installation never completes.
We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused. I have just sent you an email with the instructions to get connected with our senior technician support team. Please connect with them to get further assistance. Thank you.
Just to update that I received the magic email and after two further support sessions, now finally have the product installed. Been a long time coming, but I'm just happy that my device is now finally protected!
Anyone else coming across this error, check that:
Hope this helps!
Glad to know that your issue got resolved.

Did you check the disk space on your C drive?
Do you have 1GB of free space on your drive?
I have the same problems as everyone above. Installing AVG Internet Security and getting the message:

I've tried the AVG remover tool (nothing detected) and downloaded the file for offline installation. The problem remains. What else can I do?
Thanks

I have uninstalled the AGV using the AGV remover available at (http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities) and started a new installation. However, I am still facing with the same problem when 86% of the installation is completed. I have No other A/V installed on my PC.
