Please give option to uninstall or not load ZEN for AVG Free

I don't have a subscription to AVG, I use the free version as it meets all my needs for protection.

One of the reasons I went with AVG free many years ago was that it had very little impact on my system.  I even use the custom install and don't install specific email protection or extra languages.

I can see where Zen would be great for those with many devices protected by AVG.

However, I only have ONE computer that is protected by AVG so I really don't need or want those extra Zen features loading up, filling up, bogging down, my computer.

PLEASE give us an option to uninstall just the Zen part of AVG.  It'd be nice to have an option in the custom install NOT to load it as well.

If this isn't something management will do, or at least look into, how can I reload an older 2015 version (download that installer from somewhere?) without Zen, and disable the automatic updating?

Thank you.

Hello Rich, thanks so much for the detailed explanation. I surmise you had gone to ZEN free trial inadvertently. I request you to use the uninstall the ZEN from the control panel. That would be mentioned in the program list as "AVG". I believe you would be able to also see another program in the list which says "AVG 2015". Please remove both the programs from your system. Have a look at this article to uninstall your AVG and AVG 2015 via Control panel. After removing them and rebooting, please use this link to download and install the free version of AVG 2015 :  http://www.avg.com/download-file-dm-afh . Please get back to us should you need further assistance. Thank you.

THANK YOU!   I'll do that tomorrow when I have more time and let you know if all is then well for me.

The Zen part was something that came up daily as an update (or upgrade, sorry, I don't recall exactly which), but I couldn't find a way to decline.  I'd already uninstalled AVG 2015, removing AVG in the programs  list, then re-downloaded and installed the free one from the website and got them both back again.

I can't uninstall just the one called AVG, but when I uninstall AVG 2015, it apparently uninstalls the other.

I'm downloading the other installer per your link and will let you know how it goes.

OK, I uninstalled AVG 2015, rebooted, then uninstalled Zen, no reboot needed.

Then, using installer downloaded from above from ShriThillak, I reinstalled AVG 2015 Free and so far no Zen, and no popups telling me I need to upgrade.

Since I have turned many of my friends and family onto AVG Free, they'll most likely be asking me to do this on their systems as well.

So...  is there somewhere I can d/l the 32 and 64 bit full installers so no need to re-download when installing on several systems?

Thank you for excellent product and your help.

Hi Rich, I appreciate your efforts and patience. I understand that you want to download the full installation package (offline installation) for AVG Anti-Virus free. I request you to visit www.avg.com/download and click on the "More options" present on the right side of AVG Anti-Virus free to get links to install AVG Free for 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. The download link for AVG AntiVirus 2015 (32 bit) is http://files-download.avg.com/inst/av/avg_free_x86_all_2015_ltst_222.exe and the download link for AVG AntiVirus 2015 (64 bit) is http://files-download.avg.com/inst/av/avg_free_x64_all_2015_ltst_221.exe. Thank you.

I want to get the full installation package that will NOT keep asking me to upgrade to Zen as the link from ShriThillak, http://www.avg.com/download-file-dm-afh seems to.

Is there a code in the installer files that will tell me if this is just AVG 2015 that won't bug me to install Zen?

It's only been a day since I've uninstalled AVG Free (required b4 uninstalling Zen), rebooted as requested, then uininstalled Zen, so I don't know if this has "fixed" the problem of getting regular (at least daily) reminders/requests to "upgrade" AVG (not specifying Zen at that point, only after telling it to go ahead with the upgrade so you find out it's a Zen install).

I'll post again in a week or so and let you know if the Zen upgrade reminders start popping up again.

Thanks,

Rich

Hello Rich, I certainly understand your concern. Pleased to inform you that if you install the AVG Free antivirus you will be getting popups from AVG to try our latest products. AVG Zen is the interface of our latest program and you can connect multiple devices to the Zen network. These popups are legitimate business campaign from AVG and if you are interested to use it you can click on it and install it or else just ignore such popups and continue to use the Free version. You can also install the AVG Protection Free which uses the AVG Zen interface. To download AVG Protection free version please use this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/zen/avg_gsr_stb_all_ltst_103.exe or if you like to use only the normal AVG free antivirus then download it from the link provided by ShriThillak. Thank you.
Rich ERich E
I don't think you do understand my concern.

If you're read this whole thread, you'd know that I understand and have no problem with the popups as a legitimate campaign to have folks use/add new features/additional parts of AVG.

Normally, the popups have a decline option, and are advertised as something extra.

This is different, it's advertised as an upgrade to AVG, not an add on.  And it IS an add on.

It's an add on that a person with a single computer and no smartphone/tablet/etc. has no use for at all.

Or, are you saying that at some point the pops saying AVG needs to upgrade will stop if I keep closing the pop up window?

After some research (it's not at all obvious), apparently the new name for the free version of AVG is "AVG Protection Free", which includes Zen.  Frankly, the works "protection free" implies to me that there iis NO  protection included, or it's "free" of protection.  Perhaps your marketing folks should revisit this, AVG Free Protection would be a LOT more clear.

So again, I ask and implore AVG to continue to provide AVG, free or otherwise, as a standalone product for those of us who have no use for the Zen interface.

Thank you.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Okay Rich, as per your explanation, I can understand that you getting another business campaign from AVG to try the trial version of AVG Internet Security which is valid only for 30 days. If you are interested to try it please install the trial version or just ignore popups and continue with the version which you have installed. Ignoring popups doesn't mean that it will get stopped. If you have installed free version these campaigns would come up at regular intervals. Thank you.
Rich ERich E
We're having some sort of communication problem.

I mentioned NOTHING about AVG Internet Security, so have NO idea why you'd say I'm getting ads for it.

I give up.

If the pop ups _FOR_ZEN_ don't either stop at some near time, and don't give me an option to decline, after many, many (10+) years of recommending AVG to any and all of my friends and computer clients, I'll be researching another lightweight (not system bogging, behemoth of an antivirus) for them.

Good luck with your campaign, apparently my inability to make myself clear on the problem as I see it and constructively suggested alternatives has made continuing this thread pointless.  I'm not only disappointed with the forcing of Zen on AVG users that have NO need for it, but at the lack of understanding from AVG support of the issue.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Rich, sorry I thought that you are getting that popup to install the trial version of AVG Internet Security. To avoid confusion I would request you to attach the screenshot of the exact popup that you receive from AVG and to take a screenshot please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot and attach the image to this thread and let us know about this.

Can I say Rich I feel your pain. I have been following your thread because like you I got a pop up that said AVG Free needs updating which I clicked thinking it was the usual updates and the only difference was I didn't install Zen as I looked at the installation thing and saw it was installing something called Zen so I cancelled it as it was nothing I had heard of and when I googled I thought nah don't want nor need that. I do have other equipment but I don't like this synching thing partly because on some things I have different settings anyway..

Then like you every day after stopping the install I would get the AVG needs updating pop up..

I followed the instructions form Komal [who at least seemed to have a grasp of your problem unlike the other guy]  to uninstall AVG Free, restart PC and reinstall it using the link for  Win 7 64 bit PC and thought I'll see if that stops the pop up.. then waited to see if yours had as well.. So far mine has stopped but as you say it did not resemble a marketing pop up at all it is a misleading pop up  that it makes it look like your Virus DB needs updating, which it doesn't,  it is a sneaky way of getting you to install something you don't want and only for a trial period too by the sounds of it. .

Huge Con ....
Rich ERich E
Yup, Komal did seem to point me in the right place as well since after following his instructions and using the installer from his link to reinstall, I've not had the popups.

Wow.  I find this horrifying.  First, just the cluelessness of the support people (other than Komal and ShriThillak), they must just be either marketing shills to divert people from uninstalling the marketing-ware Zen, or just having the typical HORRIFIC English skills of 3am India support.

But more importantly, I fix computer for a living for people.  I switch them away from the bloatware of McAfee and Norton BECAUSE of this very type of thing, where the anti-virus program behaves like a virus itself, constantly pestering and misleading the user to buy products, now not only for one machine, but for many, under the GUISE of Zen 'managing' their devices AND not allowing itself to be removed or shut off!!  YOU PEOPLE HAVE GONE OVER TO 'THE DARK SIDE'!

PLEASE, _back off_ of this slippery slope!  You've gone too far!  Yes, I understand you have to make money and I WANT you to, so you are still around.  But to adopt the tactics not only of your AWFUL competition, but of VIRSUES and MALWARE itself??  Come up and breath the fresh air and rekmember your beginnings and purpose.  Rethink this Zen thing.  Make it an option, repurpose it to be TRULY what you say it is or get rid of it even better!

This thread and others are SO distrubing to me.  I literally have instaled THOUSANDS of coipies of AVG over the years and my customers have loved you.  NOW I am getting complaints!!  People think its a virus diguised as AVG and are UNINSTALLING IT!  Others see it as the bloatware/ADWARE it is becoming and uninstalling it and going BACK to McAwful and igNorton!

You're killing you golden goose!

Hello Rich.
I apologize for the inconvenience that you went through so far. It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue but I’ll find the quickest way to get this resolved for you at the earliest. I understand that you would like to roll back to the AVG without the new Zen interface. I will help you to get is sorted. To fix this issue, I request you to prefer offline installer to install the product so that the AVG Zen interface will not get installed by default.
To do just follow the steps below.
Checkout the link http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download and then choose the product that you would like to install and click more options and then choose the 32 or 64 bit setup file based on your operating system.
Now, you can download and install the product without the AVG Zen interface.
(NOTE: THE ABOVE STEPS ARE APPLICABLE TO AVG FREE, ANTIVIRUS, INTERNET SECURITY AND PC TUNEUP)
Feel free to reach us back for any further assistance.
Thank you.

Its all fine and good to give the guy FINALLY an answer to his question. (actually it happens at least 2 times in this thread)  But ON THE ACTUAL WEBSITE, this is NOT available.  Its shouldn't have to take shouting thru people that DON'T know what they are talking about or don't understand English enough to figure things out, to GET the help.  Its like Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, where the announcement about the Earth being destroyed is 'displayed' down a set of collapsed stairs, in a locked room, in a safe, protected by a leopard!

It is with some alarm that I have been reading this thread.  I have had daily updates from AVG for a week now and whatever it has downloaded is seriously affecting the performance of my computer plus auto download seems to be completely ignoring my requests for scan and update notifications.  Is it possible I have downloaded this ZEN add-on unknowingly.   It seems really sneaky to me and not the sort of behaviour I have come to expect from AVG. I don't need it only having the one laptop and I would never have downloaded it had I been informed.  How do I find out if I have ZEN?  I am not overly tech savvy and I'm not sure where to start looking.

The AVG Zen Popup on my system is not only annoying, I can't close it - it is stuck in the lower right corner and filled with text that is clearly at least 300% too large; whereby I can't click "decline" or "close" or "x" or "I want Zen" or anything else - I can only assume that there is "button" somewhere to click, but if so it is off to the right of the monitor and I can't click it.  Right-clicking does nothing either.  There is no way to get rid of this popup box short of re-starting, after which of course the popup reappears again several minutes later.  If this is not fixed then I will have no choice but to uninstall AVG permanently.

@ Rich E

Rich E, I wish to thank you for your effort in this thread.  I have been out of the country for a while and came back to my two computer home network, each of two PCs running AVG Free, and saw a pop up that looked like a regular update notice.  Unfortunately, I clicked on it on my wife's computer first and then on mine and both had a time fighting about the update ... somewhere along the way, only my wife's computer was "successful" with the ZEN update.  And it was as you said, a monster and all attempts to just uninstall it were unsuccessful.  (My computer was unsuccessful in its install of ZEN so it has not been a problem.)

Finally, I was able to uninstall AVG first and then uninstall AVG ZEN ... however, when I tried to reinstall just AVG, the "Basic" selection box insluded a second check mark for ZEN and there was no way to get just the old basic free version back.

Fortunately, my search found this thread and the reference given above at the beginning of this thread:
http://www.avg.com/download-file-dm-afh

This worked perfectly and now I have two separate AVG 2015 Free old versions working independantly on the two computers.

I must mention that I am on a metered HughesNet internet connection so I must watch my usage carefully.  The ZEN stuff is out of bounds for AVG ... I have been installing it on literally hundreds of computers for friends and I hope that they find this thread as well.

Thanks again for a careful and thorough and patient conversation with AVG.  I hope they see the error of their ways.  [There is no need for shouting and cursing ... it does not good.]

Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
You are most welcome, John. Thank you for the detailed explanation and you will get legitimate popup campaign from AVG to try our latest Zen programs. If you aren't interested you can just ignore such popups. I really appreciate your efforts. Thank you for sharing this here. Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.

I found that I also have this kind of problem. This happened to my AVG 2014 free version 3 days ago, but there is no pop up, it just automatically deleted my old version and install AVG Zen and AVG security trial version. I don't know why. Later, I uninstalled Zen and security trial , and reinstalled 2014 version, but it just keep install 2016 free version. I have tried for 3 times and it suddenly installed 2014 version back. I thought the problem is fixed, but today, after I turned on the computer and have the first definition update. And I am sure that there is no update pop up, the computer is just running something and suddenly the avg 2014 free icon has disappeared and a "AVG" icon showed up, then a AVG Zen window pop up and asked me to restart. I realized that it forced me to use the zen and secuirty trial version. I reinstalled 2014 version again, I just found that I will need a software "CCleaner" to erase all the Zen files and folder in order to reinstall 2014 version back. Now I disable program update, just enable virus definition update. Hope this will temporary fix the problem. But I do hope that AVG can have an option for users who use 2015, 2014 version and older version. Not just deleted the old version without our permission and force us to use zen or security trial version.
Rich ERich E
Did you read the thread on how to fix this?  Please review and follow the instructions carefully.  I've pasted the relevant parts here, be sure to scroll down to find the AVG FREE installers.  These will not install Zen.

I have tried the link you posted http://www.avg.com/download-file-dm-afh, it only provided AVG free 2016, I need  AVG free 2014 and no Zen or AVG security trial ver. I just disabled program update and enabled virus definition update only.

She said this may work, but if not working, I will need to download AVG 2016 free version without Zen, that's the link you posted.

Rich ERich E
I don't understand why you want a 2 year old version of the antivirus.  This thread and the answers give you the most current, and most likely better protection of the software.with no Zen.
Boris PoBoris Po
I went to customer support for help, a technical person first asked me to install AVG antivirus 2016 free version without Zen from http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe, then I asked her  if I disable program update schedule, is it possible to stop AVG Zen install to my computer, she said I can give it a try. Today I turned on the computer and just updated link scanner and definitions, but no Zen install to my computer. I hope this will work. I like 2014 ver. because my computer is too old for new software, not enough ram to run 2016  version, it will freeze and the windows will crash. I tried it 2 days ago.
KishoreKishore (Avast)
Boris, you can install AVG without Zen interface. Please visit www.avg.com/downloads and then select the product you would like to install and then click more options and then choose 32 or 64 bit based on your os and then you will be fine.
Thank you.
Rich ERich E
Boris, one of the biggest reasons I went to AVG 10+ years ago was because of it's low system impact.  When installing, I always use the custom option and uncheck email assuming you're using a web based email program, gmail, yahoo, etc.  I also uncheck the extra languages option.
With an older computer, it's VITAL that you run the latest antivirus program and keep it updated and definitions updated.  Running an older/out of date antivirus is essentially worthless.  I'm a computer expert, having gotten my computer science degree in 1973, and having been in the personal computer world since mid 1980s.
Boris PoBoris Po
Rich E and Kishore, Thank you for your advice and option. That's mean I cannot have my 2014 antivirus free ver. back, I will need to download the latest version of AVG antivirus free version. My windows is win 7 pro, that mean I need to download 64 bit one. I can see that link is an offline version of avg. Hmm.. today I didn't see AVG Zen install to my computer and AVG 2014 still in my computer. I disabled programe update schedule and enable virus definition update, I alway click "up to date" button everytime I turn on computer and check the avg download files to see if there is program update. I check very frequently everyday.  I would like to wait for a few days to see if this work or not, if not working, I will download the 2016 antivirus free from www.avg.com/downloads, then choose "More option", then choose "http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe", am I correct?

Hello Boris,
Thank you for replying us back. You can download the offline installation's of the AVG 2016 version using the link's you have mentioned.
Please feel free to contact us for further assistance.
Thank you.
Rich ERich E
First, Windows 7 Pro comes in both 23bit and 64 bit versions, check which you have and downoad the full installer appropriate.  If you don't know how to check which "bit" version you have, google how to do it.

You DEFINITELY want the full installer!!!!!

Second, the 2016 version has little impact on system resources.  I run it on a very old W7 Pro system, Pentium 4, 3.0Ghz, and it has little to no affect unless you're moving lots (1,000s) of files so it rechecks each one as you copy/move it.  You really should keep the latest versions and virus definitions, again, especially on an older system..  Way better to stop a newer virus than to recover from infection.  I hope you have good, regular, and duplicate backups.

If you use the full installer, you will NOT get Zen, nor will you get upgraded to Zen, at least for now.  And considering the flack AVG has had over it, I hope they will continue to offer Zen free versions.
Boris PoBoris Po

Thank you Rich E and Kshore! I have downloaded 64 bit one in that page, it's a huge file 205 mb. I guess this is a full installer, because I saw the first one is call avg antivirus free (recommended), only has 2 mb. Is that with Zen? Then second one and third one are 32 bit and 64 bit, these 2 are full installer and without Zen?

My system is Intel Pentium Dual core E5800 3.2 Ghz, 4 GB Ram, but the technician told me that my system cannot install new softwares anymore because the cpu cannot support and cannot upgrade the ram. AVG eats up my ram memory when scanning and after scanning my ram memory only has less than 1.8 GB remains, so it's easily to have memory dump and make tthe window 7 stopped working. I hope this 2016 antivirus free ver without Zen doesn't have this problem. And I don't understand the fix performance function in avg 2016, it said I have 8.08 GB errors and after I opened it, it shows me the errors I don't understand. Not like "Fix performance" in 2014 ver. only 3 errors and I understand what kind of error is that.

Today I turned on my compuuter and have the avg update, no zen install to my computer, this is weird. Maybe I disabled the program update schedule. It only updated the definitions.

Hello Boris,

We have provided the offline installer link to download the normal AVG free antivirus without Zen to you. The offline installer will be of huge file size. Only this offline installer link will install the AVG free antivirus without Zen, the recommended installer file will install the Zen program because we have launched the campaign to know about our latest Zen program. I assure you that our AVG program won't consume much of the CPU usage. If you face any issues please do let us know. Since you have installed the normal AVG free antivirus program now you won't be having the Zen for it.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
In the AVG Antivirus dashboard we have an option called "FIX PERFORMANCE". When you click on this Fix performance you will get a PC Analyzer window opened which will analyze your PC and will display the result of your PC errors but to fix those issues you have to purchase the license for AVG PC TuneUp and install it. The aim of this Fix Performance is to know about our AVG PC TuneUp features and functions.

Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.

Aravind, Thank you for your reply! I have downloaded 64 bit avg antivirus 2016 free ver from the link you posted, it's a big file (229 mb). Because I reinstalled avg 2014 antivirus free 2 days ago, until today still no zen install to my computer and remove my old version.  I will observe for a few days, if the AVG Zen suddenly install to my computer and remove my old version. I will install this 2016 ver without Zen. I like 2014 version very much , that's why I stick to use it.

Today I turned on the computer and updated my avg antivirus 2014 free version, found that no avg zen, interent security 2016 trial install to my computer. I thought it will happen again today because it happened on Dec 08, then Dec 11. Maybe I disabled program update schedule, and enable virus definition schedule only. My sister also has this zen problem a few days ago, after she reinstalled 2015 free version from backup, no zen intall to her computer also. I don't know why this zen automatically installed to my computer last week for 2 times, I hope it won't happen again because it bother me so much
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Boris,

This Zen will get installed when you click on the upgrade button on the legitimate business campaign from AVG. It is launched to know about our latest zen programs. So in your case and for your sister this same should have happened and you will get the business campaign popup from AVG even if you reinstall the program. These cannot be stopped and if you aren't interested to try the latest version then please ignore such popups and continue with the program that you have installed.
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.

last week, I didn't receive this business campaign popup from avg and avg zen installed it by itself without notification. It happened on dec 08 and dec 11, today I clicked update button for many times, no pop up show up and also found that there are no new virus definition update today, only definition update is avg 2015 and 2016, Iavi:11180, the definition of 2014 is Iavi:11175, same as last night.

I have a question about this link http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe
This is AVG antivirus 2016 free without Zen, correct? And is it no expiry date? Because some of my friends told me that this offline and without Zen version only has 1 year protection free, after the expiry date, I will need to paid or download a 2017 or 2018 version. It's not free like before.

Hello Boris,
Please be informed that the link provided is to download and install AVG Antivirus is for free and we don't charge for it. And it has the normal AVG Antivirus interface without AVG Zen. I request you to use the offline download to install your AVG free version.

Inability of AVG to work with large fonts is upsetting.  It took me a lot of time to get rid of Zen version and install the no-Zen version.  As soon as you click to uninstall AVG in Control Panel, and AVG opens with buttons Repair and Uninstall, that stupid Zen pops up and blocks the Uninstall button on AVG. You have to:

Resize the icons and fonts to Small -> Reboot -> Uninstall AVG Protection -> Reboot -> Uninstall Zen -> Reboot -> Install the no-Zen -> Resize the fonts back to Large -> Reboot.

For those of you, who can't get rid of "The Zen Feature", try run the provided AVG Uninstaller for Zen -> remove eventually ini. file -> run Ccleaner (check settings to remove AVG leftovers) -> restart pc -> download offline installer, and it should work. If not........I doubt, there's a cure.

Geez, what a deroute for TuneUp Utilities 2012 (e.g.) Happy New Year everybody.

I had a problem with my pc, and so had to delete several applications, AVG included. Went to re-download it, and every time i get it, no matter where i get it, weather it be from the avg website, CNet, or the link on this thread, it gives me zen which is the biggest pile of crock ive seen or come across. I didn't ask for zen, i dont want zen and i've lost faith in avg

After many years of using and suggesting AVG to all my friends/family/cliets, the day has come that i will start to recommend avast.  This Zen program is unnecessary and the fact that i can't install the free version without zen is ridiculous.  add to that, i have been non stop getting pop ups to try avg internet securities.  i'm talking multiple times every day.  i just had a cliet call and ask me why her antivirus says its expired when it was supposed to be free.  they are clicking these pop ups thinking its an update, not realizing that its a trial.  this is sneaky practice and quite frankly, i'm not happy about.   as annoying as it is, i know to click out of the trail pop up, but when it pops up as much as it has been for the past couple weeks, most people don't pay attention and just click it.   then add to the fact that there was no downgrade option to the free version after uninstalling internet securities AND when i tried to install the free version, because i didn't remove zen it reinstalled the expired trial version.  this is just totally unexeceptable.  i understand wanting to make money off your product, but you have gone about it the wrong way.  if no option becomes available to remove zen and just keep the free version, i will be changing over all my pcs, my family pcs and my clients pcs to the avast free version.   (which btw, on download.com, avast is currently the top download at like 400k+ while avg is barely at 125k downloads.  avg alwasy had more downloads, but your recent business decision seem to be negatively effecting your market share so to speak)
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Rob,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Zen is our newly launched concept and to create awareness about it to our customers we have launched a campaign that whenever customer tries to download AVG free antivirus from website they will get only this Zen version downloaded.
Also if you have our free version of AVG antivirus program installed you will keep getting the legitimate business campaign to try the trial version of AVG Internet Security and other AVG programs. These popups couldn't be stopped as it is the only way of marketing our products.
We request our customers to ignore such popups if they aren't interested to try the trial version or other AVG programs.
If you wish to have only the normal AVG free antivirus without Zen we can help you with that.
You have to remove AVG Zen using the AVG remover tool and install free antivirus using the offline installer.
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link:
http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
3) Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation.
NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.

Hi Balasubramanian,

I understand wanting to market your products, but it is way just to aggressive.  literally every time i turn my pc on, or wake it from sleep i get at least 2 different pop ups.  every time without fail, even if i click 'no thanks'.  its hard to ignore them when they are constantly popping up interrupting what i'm doing, often happening multiple times a day.

Having to do an offline intsall should not be the solution.  I will try what you suggested, but why can't you just make an option under customize when installing to uncheck zen if your customers don't want it?   my guess is most people with the free version don't bother making an account, and zen seems more geared toward those with subscriptions, who probably have to create an account when they sign up for it.

will i have to do an offline install every time there is an update to the program?

I am wondering if I installed the installation file from my computer which I downloaded a few month ago today, will Zen included? Because I set up another topic about no virus definition updates for AVG 2014 free only since oct 05, and today it just updated in the morning but no more, other versions still have update to Iavi: 13173, but avg 2014 still in Iavi: 13169

Boris,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. You can download and install your older version of AVG without Zen, but due to the arrival of new threats and infections we have updating our AVG security program with high new security patches and updates to enhance the computer security. We always recommend you to install our latest version of AVG program from our official website http://www.avg.com/us-en/download because virus definition updates will no longer available for older versions. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi

So you mean I still can install the AVG 2016 free without zen from the link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe? I have downloaded one a few months ago and want to install it at the end of this year, if it's without Zen, I will install it later. I don't need Zen for my computer because I don't have ipad and laptop connect to my computer.

I also found that there is no new virus definition update for AVG 2014 free version, it stopped update on Oct 5, but yesterday it has new updates, and today it has no updates again. I have checked other versions, they all have new virus definition updates today, I am wondering why there is no updates for 2014 version today again.

you can see the following pages, only avg 2014 free version doesn't have any update, others have:
http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download-update-2013 (have new virus definition updates today, Iavi:13178)
http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download-update-2014 (no new virus definition updates today, Iavi:13169)
http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download-update-2015.tpl-stdfull (have new virus definition updates today, Iavi:13178)
http://www.avg.com/ww-en/download-update.tpl-stdfull (2016, have new virus definition updates today, Iavi:13178)

would you please take a look and fix it? It said end support after Dec 31, 2016, not now. Please keep virus definition updates everyday for 2014 version until Dec 31 as it said, Thank you!

Hi
I just want to know that I have downloaded an AVG 2016 free without Zen version from this link , http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe a few months ago. If I install it now, it will install 2016 free without Zen version or it will install 2017 version? Because I heard that we need to pay and register for the product from now on. If this file I downloaded was 2016 free without Zen and a free version, I will definitely install it now or later. Thank you!

Hello Boris,
Thank you for your patience.
We keep you informed that in AVG 2016 can be installed as 30 days trail with AVG ZEN as interface. Since you have mentioned that you need to register is nothing but to create AVG MY Account using your email id. Once it has been registered  please try to login with AVG protection free to get the basic protection. If you are facing any installation issues please let me know we are here to help you. Thank you.

Hi Aravindh

I have downloaded this 2016 free edition without Zen a few months ago, AVG_Antivirus_Free_x64_693.exe. If I install it now, it will install AVG 2016 free without Zen, am I correct? Because another technical person in this forum told me that this will install the free version, not 30 days trial version. He said this is an offline installation file and will not install Zen , I just want to make sure who is correct! Thanks!

Hello Boris,
Please be informed that the AVG Free edition without the AVG Zen interface is no longer available for the download. We would request you to install the updated AVG Free program  so that your PC will be more protected than before.
Thank you.

Hi
I don't know why some technical persons in this forum keep saying it's no longer available for download. I have already told you I have already downloaded on May, I have the installation file, the exe file, 255mb. And I also have tried the link, it's still available for downloading, it opened a window and have a save file button. I have also use this exe file to install AVG 2016 free version without Zen successfully, it has no Zen and virus definition file is up to date now, Iavi: 13685. But 2014 version still in 13681.

Please try the link before you told people that it's not working or no longer available for download
