Stopping AVG adverts appearing on my desktop -how, help please

I keep getting these AVG f$^&*( pop ups appearing on my desk top.  The latest in is one which says get your PC ready for the holidays.
Does any one have any advice on how to stop these things appearing?
I was in the middle of a time assessment when one popped up, and have mnore to do, so am not feeling very grateful about its intrusion into my private space and time at the min AVG.

Thanks

Well Jeff's answer was best.  A solution.  Thank you.

However because AVG's being doing this more of late in the last year, I've deleted it and jumped ship to Bitdefender which just quietly gets on with it in the back ground and doesn't pester you with c$%^ so I've read anyway.  If not I'll try Adblock Plus as well.

So goodbye AVG.

AVG has lost focus on what made them great. Tried many ways to remove their pop ups only to have them return. At our last quarterly meeting someone recommended a change from AVG to Panda for our paid accounts at work and no one objected. I'll be going with another anti-virus program as well. It was great while it lasted AVG, thanks for 7 years of excellent service.

I've found an easy way to stop the annoyingly constant pop-up malware from AVG. I uninstalled AVG Free and Paid from our five PC's and switched to Avast... so this marketing initiative by AVG is a miserably poor campaign. I'm no doubt gonna receive a 'Sorry to see you leave' response. One more thing... we received constant AVG pop-ups about how slow our PC start-ups were which, in fact, they were. Our technical support company suggested that if we uninstalled AVG then PC start-ups would return to normal, which they did. In their opinion AVG deliberately slow down start-ups so AVG can sell their Tune Up software which then miraculously resolves the issue. AVG was for many years a good product but they've lost their way and there are much better products on the market such as Avast and Panda who don't constantly bombard you with malicious malware pop-ups. Goodbye AVG and good riddance...

yea I've been working on trying to get rid of that annoying popup destop AVG add, went through all the forms and deactivated AVG Advisor Notification, that didn't work, then deactivated other stuff and no success - so that best option is just to unistall the program

After this week reading the last few years postings on this topic, I now firmly believe that AVG happily take the hit on the unwanted popup complaints as they sell enough of the software advertised by the popup,

So I believe that AVG will not stop the popups. My subscription is only a week old but I have now cancelled it and will now buy from a competitor. My bad for not looking at this formum earlier.
It is a shame asI have used AVG since about 1997.

Nope, you're main goal is to make money. At least be honest...

Nobody is waiting for those pop ups, it's anoying as hell. Don't need a response, cause I won't be back soon. Will use another AV.  oh and yes, I just made an account to say this, cause I used to like AVG.  But all these ads on my desktop, I cannot tolerate it anymore. Goodbye

I too am frustrated with AVGs constant nagging to get their tuneup product. Also, the suggestion that AVG slows down the computer startup in order to sell their products makes sense. This computer has become stupidly slow start up for a machine that is quite new (<1 year old). I will move over to a competitor fairly soon if AVG doesn't sort this out.

First of all, I can see that this post is 9 months old and has been answered. But I really want to have my say as well.

I'm sure that no less than 70% of AVG users are annoyed by these adverts. And I'm one of them. The worst part is, they don't pop up right away. This delay timer is the worst idea ever made in marketing. I power on my computer, go for a smoke, come back, launch a game, launch my streaming software, people join to watch. Suddenly, in a middle of live streaming session, 15 min later, I get kick out to my desktop because AVG has a "FREE GIFT" for me. I DON'T WANT YOUR TUNEUP, I don't want a subscibtion for 50% off, my AVG is up to date and does NOT need updating, I don't want ZEN version, I don't need ANY of extra products. All I need is just an AV. I don't work full time and make a little extra from streaming to buy everything you have. God knows how many subscribers and donations I lost due to these adverts. I'm using AVG for 10 years and I ALWAYS recommended it to my friends. Now, I tell everyone to stay as far away from this AV as possible.

According to AVG Support, intrusive adverts issue has been escalated almost 2 months ago. Yet, adverts still pop up as often as they did and are still in high priority to minimize any application at any time. A few times, I had 3-5 of these adverts pop up in ONE day. AVG Support is probably gonna laugh on their coffee brake saying - "Look at this 30 years old man going full on kid-rage on the Internet. ROFL". Guess what? Attempts to boost sales with intrusive advertising on personal computers and mobiles just cost you 3 PC subscriptions and 2 mobile phone subscriptions. Thank you for saving me so much money.

And for the review: Software is slow (I have high-end PC), GUI is ugly, menu is confusing and control is very limited. Good protection from viruses, though. Compared to 5-7 years ago, current AVG will get 5/10 from me. Even less for ZEN version.

Hello Dimas,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We always value our customers feedback and we have come up with this solution to setup the frequency for AVG marketing popups.
Thank you for sharing your concern here.

Avinash's advice does not work for me. I have a paid subsciption to AVG Ultimate. The AVG Internet Security application does not have an "options" menu, only "Menu"..."settings". Under settings, I can choose "general"..."popups", but there is no option to set marketing offers to "never".

I keep getting popups advertising the AVG VPN. First, I don't need a AVG's VPN. I already have another VPN. Second, I've paid for the application, so I don't expect adware.

Please advise the precise steps I should take to ensure I never see another advertisement for any AVG product while I am using my computer with a full, paid license for AVG Ultimate.

Todd,
We understand this might be disappointing, go to AVG Zen -> Internet Security -> Menu at the top right -> Settings -> General -> Enable "Silent mode".

This will helps you to turn off popups and Ads. We are here, if you need further help.

The GUI has now changed. What is the new way to stop the ADVERTS and other pop-ups in AVG Internet Security?

In AVG Internet Security, I go to upper-right corner, click on Settings, General, Popups. Then for Info Popups I enter: "0" seconds. I also enter "0" seconds for others, but still get those annoying ADVERTS and other pop-ups!

I am about to switch to another AV program, Bitdefender, or Avast!
Balasubramanian SBalasubramanian S (Avast)
Hello Myron,

Please be informed that on 2017 version the appearance and the settings will be completely different from the 2016 version.
The option for setting up frequency for the AVG Marketing popups isn't available on the 2017 version whereas you can enable the "Silent Mode" option on it.
To enable it, please open AVG User interface, click on Menu--> Settings--> General window right you can find "Silent Mode"
Please tick the check box to enable and finally click on Ok.
You can also use this link: http://www.avg.com/product-feedback to submit your feedback about the AVG product.

Still getting ads with "Silent Mode" checked. Not happy
KarthikeyanKarthikeyan (Foundever)
Hello Marty,

I understand that you still receive ads in paid version of AVG. Please uncheck the silent mode and follow the below steps to stop campaign pop-ups from AVG.

Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->General->Pop-up->Uncheck "Show pop ups offers for other AVG products".

If you still receive any ads, please send us the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the same, we will check the pop-ups and assist you further.
