Troubleshooting when a scheduled alarm doesn't work in AVG Alarm Clock Xtreme

If a scheduled alarm does not sound at its designated time, Alarm Clock Xtreme may have been force stopped by another app or system setting designed to preserve your device's memory or battery.

Other installed apps

If another app is force stopping Alarm Clock Xtreme, add Alarm Clock Xtreme to the list of allowed or whitelisted apps for the related app. If you are unsure which of your installed apps force stopped Alarm Clock Xtreme, check any apps that are intended to improve the performance of your device by preserving battery or memory.

 

NOTE: The exact way to manage these settings varies depending on the app.

Device settings

To prevent Alarm Clock Xtreme from being force stopped by your device, enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in your device settings related to battery or memory management. Device settings vary depending on your device type. For detailed instructions, select your device type from the list below:

Asus

Follow these steps on your Asus device:

  1. Open your device Settings.
  2. Tap Power management, then tap Auto-start Manager.
  3. On the Downloaded tab, tap Deny next to Alarm Clock Xtreme to change this setting to Allow.
  4. Tap Allow to confirm the setting change.

Huawei

Follow the relevant steps below, depending on your on your Huawei device:

Huawei (EMUI 10.0 and later)

  1. Open your device Settings, then go to BatteryApp Launch.
  2. Tap the slider next to Alarm Clock Xtreme so it turns Off.
  3. In the dialog that appears, ensure Auto launch and Run in background are enabled.

Huawei (EMUI 5.0 - 9.1)

  1. Tap the Phone Manager icon on the main screen of your device (or open SettingsBattery).
  2. Tap Lock screen cleanup.
  3. Ensure the slider next to Alarm Clock Xtreme is gray (OFF) and the app is set to Don't close.

Huawei (EMUI 4.9 and earlier)

  1. Tap the Phone Manager icon on the main screen of your device.
  2. Go to Settings and select the Protected apps tab.
  3. Turn on the protection for Alarm Clock Xtreme.

Lenovo / Lenovo Zuk

Follow steps in either option (A), (B), or (C) below, depending what matches your device navigation:

  • Option (A):
    1. Open your device Settings.
    2. Select Background app management.
    3. Deselect Alarm Clock Xtreme.
  • Option (B):
    1. Open your device Settings and select Apps.
    2. Choose Alarm Clock Xtreme, then tap Battery.
    3. Disable Battery optimization.
  • Option (C):
    1. Open Advanced Settings and select Battery.
    2. Tap Battery Optimization.
    3. Tap Alarm Clock Xtreme and select Off.

Nokia

Follow these steps on your Nokia device:

  1. Open your device's System settings.
  2. Tap AppsAlarm Clock Xtreme.
  3. Tap Battery and select Don't optimize.

Further recommendations

If you continue to experience issues, ensure that Battery Saver is not enabled:

  1. Open your device's System settings and select Battery.
  2. Ensure Battery Saver is disabled.

OnePlus

Follow these steps on your OnePlus device:

  1. Go to System SettingsApps, and tap the gear icon. Choose Special AccessBattery Optimization and disable this feature.
  2. Go to Phone SettingsBatteryBattery Optimization. Choose All apps in the menu at the top of the screen, then tap Alarm Clock Xtreme and select Don't optimize.

On older OnePlus devices, follow the alternative steps below:

  1. Open your device Settings and select BatteryBattery optimization.
  2. Tap Menu (three dots), then disable Enhanced optimization (or Advanced optimization).

Further recommendations

Certain OnePlus devices include the App Auto-Launch feature, which prevents apps from running in the background. To disable this feature:

  1. Open System Settings on your OnePlus device and go to AppsApp auto-launch.
  2. Tap the slider next to Alarm Clock Xtreme so that it turns gray (OFF).

Samsung

Follow the relevant steps below according to your Android version:

Samsung (Android 10)

  1. Open your device Settings and tap Device care.
  2. Tap Battery, then select App power management.
  3. Tap Apps that won't be put to sleep, then select Alarm Clock Xtreme.
  4. Tap Done to confirm.

Samsung (Android 9)

  1. Open your device Settings and tap Apps.
  2. Tap Menu (three dots) in the top-right corner, then select Special access.
  3. Select Optimise battery usage, then tap the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and select All.
  4. Tap the blue (ON) slider next to Alarm Clock Xtreme so it turns white (OFF).

Samsung (Android 6, 7, or 8)

  1. Open your device Settings and tap Device maintenance.
  2. Tap Battery, then scroll down and select Unmonitored apps.
  3. Tap Add apps, then select Alarm Clock Xtreme. Tap Done to confirm.

Xiaomi

Follow the relevant steps below according to your MIUI version:

MIUI 11

  1. Open your device Settings and go to AppsManage apps.
  2. Tap Alarm Clock Xtreme.
  3. Ensure that Autostart is enabled.
  4. Tap Other permissions and ensure the following permissions are enabled:
    • Show on lock screen
    • Display pop-up window
    • Display pop-up windows while running in the background
  5. Tap the back arrow, then tap Battery Saver and select No restrictions.

MIUI 9 or 10

  1. Open either your device Settings, Installed apps, or App Management.
  2. Tap Alarm Clock Xtreme and ensure Autostart is enabled.
  3. Tap Other permissions.
  4. Ensure Show on lock screen and Start in background are enabled.
  5. Tap the back arrow, then tap Battery Saver and select No restrictions.

MIUI 8

  1. Open either your device Settings, Installed apps, or App Management.
  2. Tap Alarm Clock XtremeOther permissions.
  3. Ensure Show on lock screen and Start in background are enabled.
  4. Return to your main device Settings screen.
  5. Select BatteryManage apps battery usage.
  6. Tap Choose appsAlarm Clock XtremeNo restrictions.

If you continue to experience issues on Xiaomi (MIUI 10), try the relevant troubleshooting steps below from the device Settings screen:

  • Go to Advanced SettingsBattery manager. Ensure the Power plan is set to Performance.
  • Go to Advanced SettingsBattery managerProtected apps. Ensure Alarm Clock Xtreme is set to Protected.
  • Go to AppsAlarm Clock XtremeBattery. Enable Power-intensive prompt and Keep running after screen off.
  • Go to Additional SettingsBattery & PerformanceManage apps battery usage, then perform the following actions:
    1. Ensure all options under Power Saving Modes are set to Off.
    2. Tap Saving Power In The BackgroundChoose appsAlarm Clock XtremeBackground Settings. Select No restrictions.

Sony Xperia

Follow these steps on your Xperia device:

  1. Open your device Settings and tap Battery.
  2. Tap Menu (three dots) in the top-right corner, then select Battery optimization or Power saving exceptions.
  3. Tap the Apps tab and tick Alarm Clock Xtreme.
