Why are Windows 7 and 8/8.1 no longer supported?
Starting with March 2026, AVG Secure Browser is no longer available for installation on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 (and older), following Microsoft’s end of support for these operating systems. Running the browser on unsupported platforms may lead to security and compatibility risks.
Can I still install AVG Secure Browser on Windows 7 or 8/8.1?
No. As of March 2026, AVG Secure Browser can no longer be installed on devices running Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and older versions of Windows.
What happens if AVG Secure Browser is already installed?
If AVG Secure Browser is already installed on Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1, it will continue to work. However, no further browser updates will be released beyond version 109 (from January, 2023). To receive ongoing security updates and new features, we recommend using Windows 10 or later with the latest version of AVG Secure Browser.
Can I contact AVG Support when I am using a version that is no longer supported?
AVG support will ask you to update to a supported operating system before we can assist you with AVG Secure Browser.
