Installing AVG Secure Browser

AVG Secure Browser is a web browser with built-in security and privacy features to keep you safe online. This article contains instructions to download and install AVG Secure Browser.

Install AVG Secure Browser

  1. Click the button below to download the AVG Secure Browser setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your PC (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  2. Right-click the downloaded setup file avg_secure_browser_setup.exe, and select Run as administrator from the context menu.
    If you are unable to authorize the installation of AVG Secure Browser, refer to the following article for advice: Managing administrative accounts on your Windows PC.
  3. If prompted for permission by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  4. Review the License Agreement and Privacy Policy, then click Accept and install to proceed with the default installation.
  5. Wait while setup installs AVG Secure Browser on your PC.

AVG Secure Browser is now installed on your PC, and a new browser window opens automatically.

In late 2020 Apple began using Apple silicon instead of Intel processors on certain Mac computer models. To check if your device uses Apple silicon, refer to the following Apple Support article: Apple Support ▸ Mac computers with Apple silicon.
  1. Click the button below to download the AVG Secure Browser setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your Mac (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder).

  2. Double-click the downloaded setup file AVGSecureBrowserSetup.pkg.

  2. Double-click the downloaded setup file AVGSecureBrowserSetupARM.pkg.
  1. Click Continue.
  2. Click Install to proceed with the default installation, or click Change Install Location... if you want to make changes to the default setup.
  3. Enter the password that you use when you start your Mac, and click Install Software.
  4. Wait while setup installs AVG Secure Browser on your Mac, then click Close.

AVG Secure Browser is now installed on your Mac, and a new browser window opens automatically.

  1. On your Android device, tap the button below to open the AVG Secure Browser product page in Google Play Store.

  2. Tap Install to download and install the app. When installation is complete, tap Open to open AVG Secure Browser.
  3. Review the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy, then tap Let's go!.
  4. Swipe through the welcome screens, then tap Start secure browsing.

AVG Secure Browser is now installed and ready to use on your Android device.

To upgrade to AVG Secure Browser PRO, tap Upgrade now in the top-left corner of your browser and follow the on-screen instructions to purchase a subscription.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any installation issues:

  1. Ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements and your Windows is up-to-date.
    • Windows 11 except Mixed Reality and IoT Edition; Windows 10 except Mobile and IoT Edition (32 or 64-bit)
    • Windows compatible PC with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE3 instructions); ARM-based devices are not supported
    • Internet connection to download the browser and receive updates
    • Optimal standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels is recommended
  2. Restart your PC, then try to install AVG Secure Browser again by following the exact steps in this article.

If the issue persists, contact AVG Support.

If you experience any installation issues:

  1. Ensure your Mac meets the minimum system requirements and your macOS is up-to-date.
    Apple macOS 10.15.x (Catalina) is last supported on AVG Secure Browser version 116.
    • Apple macOS 14.x (Sonoma), Apple macOS 13.x (Ventura), Apple macOS 12.x (Monterey), Apple macOS 11.x (Big Sur)
    • Intel-based Mac with 64-bit processor or ARM processor or Apple silicon chip (M1)
    • Internet connection to download the browser and receive updates
    • Optimal standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels is recommended
  2. Restart your Mac, then try to install AVG Secure Browser again by following the exact steps in this article.

If the issue persists, contact AVG Support.

If you experience any installation issues, ensure your Android device meets the minimum system requirements.

  • Google Android 9.0 (Pie, API 28) or higher
  • Internet connection to download, activate, and use the VPN service
