Activating AVG Internet Security

AVG Internet Security is a paid product that requires a subscription to use. After installing AVG Internet Security, you may need to manually activate your subscription by either entering a valid activation code, or signing in to the application with your AVG Account credentials.

Activation Code

To activate AVG Internet Security using an activation code:

  1. Locate your activation code. This is most commonly found in your order confirmation email. For detailed instructions, click the button below: Locating your AVG activation code
  2. Double-click the AVG Internet Security icon on your Windows desktop to open the application. For alternative options to open AVG Internet Security, refer to the following article:
  3. Select MenuEnter activation code.
  4. Type or paste your activation code (including hyphens) into the text box, then click Enter.
  5. Check your subscription details. If you have more than one valid subscription, click the down arrow to select the subscription you want to use.
    Click Continue to complete activation.

Your AVG Internet Security subscription is now active.

If you purchased AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device), you can use your activation code to activate AVG Internet Security on your Windows and Mac devices, as well as AVG AntiVirus PRO and AVG Mobile Security PRO on your Android and iOS devices.

To activate AVG Internet Security using an activation code:

  2. Double-click the AVG AntiVirus icon in your Applications folder to open the application. For alternative options to open AVG AntiVirus, refer to the following article:
  3. Ensure the AVG AntiVirus window is active, then click AVG AntiVirusSubscriptions on the left side of the Apple menu bar.
  4. Type or paste your activation code (including hyphens) into the text box, then click Activate.

Your AVG Internet Security subscription is now active.

To activate AVG Internet Security using an AVG Account:

  1. Ensure that you know which email address you used to purchase AVG Internet Security. This is the email address where you received the order confirmation email after purchase.
  2. Double-click the AVG Internet Security icon on your Windows desktop to open the application. For alternative options to open AVG Internet Security, refer to the following article:
  3. Select MenuSign In.
  4. Enter the credentials for your AVG Account that is linked to the email address you used to purchase AVG Internet Security, then click Sign In.

    If you do not have an AVG Account, select the Create Account tab to create a new AVG Account with the same email address that you used to purchase AVG Internet Security.
  5. Check your subscription details. If you have more than one valid subscription, click the down arrow to select the subscription you want to use.
    Click Continue to complete activation.

Your AVG Internet Security subscription is now active.

To activate AVG Internet Security using an AVG Account:

  1. Ensure that you know which email address you used to purchase AVG Internet Security. This is the email address where you received the order confirmation email after purchase.
  2. Double-click the AVG AntiVirus icon in your Applications folder to open the application. For alternative options to open AVG AntiVirus, refer to the following article:
  3. Click Log in in the top-right corner of the application screen.
  4. Click Log in to existing account.

    If you do not have an AVG Account, select the Create Account option to create a new AVG Account with the same email address that you used to purchase AVG Internet Security.
  5. Enter the credentials for your AVG Account that is linked to the email address you used to purchase AVG Internet Security, then click Log In.

Your AVG Internet Security subscription is now active.

Troubleshoot activation issues

If you experience activation issues, review the information below, which explains how to resolve some of the most common activation issues.

  • Ensure that you are entering the credentials for the AVG Account that is linked to your AVG Internet Security subscription. To verify this, sign in to your AVG Account in your web browser and click the Subscriptions tile to see a list of the linked subscriptions.
  • If your AVG Internet Security subscription is not linked to an AVG Account, you can create an AVG Account with the email address that you used to purchase AVG Internet Security. Alternatively, you can contact AVG Support and ask them to manually link your subscription to your existing AVG Account.
  • Try following the instructions to activate using an activation code instead.
  • Completely uninstall and then reinstall AVG Internet Security. This can resolve issues that are caused by incorrect configuration or corrupted files. We recommend following the exact steps in the articles linked below: After reinstallation, try activating your subscription again.
