A subscription purchased via Google Play Store activates automatically on the device you use to make the purchase. If you purchase your subscription through another AVG sales channel, such as the AVG Store, you need to manually activate the app using a valid activation code or your AVG Account.
Before following the activation steps in this article, ensure the latest version of AVG Cleaner is installed on your Android device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
Activate subscription
This option only applies if you purchased your AVG Cleaner subscription through Google Play Store.
If you want to start using your subscription on a new device, or if you reset your existing device, you can restore your AVG Cleaner subscription via Google Play Store:
- Ensure you are signed in to Google Play Store with the same Google Account that you used to purchase AVG Cleaner. For instructions on how to verify this, refer to the following article:
- Open AVG Cleaner and and tap Upgrade in the top-right corner.

(three dots) ▸ Restore license. 
The application automatically retrieves and activates your AVG Cleaner subscription from Google Play Store.
To activate your subscription using an activation code:
- Open AVG Cleaner and tap Upgrade in the top-right corner.

- Tap

(three dots) ▸ Enter activation code. 
- Type or paste your activation code (including hyphens), then tap Confirm.

Your AVG Cleaner subscription is now active.
If you do not yet have an AVG Account, you first need to create one using the email address that you provided during the subscription purchase. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article:
To activate your subscription using your AVG Account:
- Open AVG Cleaner and go to

Menu (three lines) ▸ AVG Account. 
- Tap Login With Email.

- Enter your AVG Account credentials and tap Login To AVG Account.

Your AVG Cleaner subscription is now active.
Troubleshoot activation issues
If you experience any activation issues using an activation code:
- Ensure you have correctly entered your activation code, including hyphens.
- Use our webform or your AVG Account to retrieve a copy of your activation code, then try activating the subscription again.
- If activation using your activation code still doesn't work, try following the instructions to activate using your AVG Account.
If you experience any activation issues using your AVG Account:
- Ensure that you are entering the credentials for the AVG Account that is linked to your AVG Cleaner subscription. To verify this, sign in to your AVG Account in your web browser and click the Subscriptions tile to see a list of the linked subscriptions.
- If your AVG Cleaner subscription is not linked to an AVG Account, you can create an AVG Account with the email address that you used to purchase AVG Cleaner.
- If activation using your AVG Account still doesn't work, try following the instructions to activate using an activation code.
