What is AVG Mobile Security for iOS?

AVG Mobile Security for iOS is an app designed to protect your privacy online, securely store your photos, block dangerous fake websites, and alert you if any of the passwords linked to your email address are leaked online.

What are the system requirements for AVG Mobile Security?

  • Apple iOS 13.0 or later
  • Internet connection to download, activate, and maintain app updates

How can I download and install AVG Mobile Security for iOS?

  1. On your iOS device, tap the button below to open the AVG Mobile Security product page in the App Store. Go to the App Store
  2. Tap Get to download and install the app. When installation is complete, tap Open to open AVG Mobile Security.
  3. Tap Not now to start using the free version of the app.
  4. Tap Allow so that AVG Mobile Security can send you notifications.

AVG Mobile Security is now installed on your iOS device.

What is the My iPhone screen?

Tap the My iPhone tile on the main app screen to access the following tools:

Web Protection

Web Protection blocks malicious fake websites that may appear to be legitimate. A local VPN (Virtual Private Network) is required to enable this tool. To enable Web Protection:

  1. Tap the gray (OFF) slider next to Web Protection.
  2. Review the information, then tap Accept.
  3. If prompted, tap Allow to add VPN Configurations.

Web Protection is now enabled. This tool requires minimal input from you. To ensure you are protected, you just need to keep Web Protection enabled.

iPhone settings

Under iPhone settings, you can see a list of personalized tips to improve the security of your device. Tips marked Disabled are not yet implemented in your device settings. You can tap the tip panel to open step-by-step instructions that explain how to perform the recommended action. Tips marked as Enabled are already implemented in your device settings and no further action is required from you.

What is Secure Browsing?

Secure Browsing uses our VPN (Virtual Private Network) infrastructure to create a secured VPN connection. This protects the data you upload and download from the internet, secures data sent from your device, and keeps your internet activity completely private. The Secure Browsing feature is available with a paid AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription.

How do I activate Secure Browsing?

The Secure Browsing feature is available with a paid AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription. The first time you activate Secure Browsing, the app prompts you to install a VPN profile:

  1. Tap Turn On VPN on the Secure Browsing tile.
  2. Review the Logging Policy and Use terms, then tap Accept.
  3. If prompted, tap Allow to add VPN Configurations.

Secure Browsing is now activated, connecting you to the closest server we have in your location. To temporarily turn off the VPN, tap Pause VPN on the main AVG Mobile Security screen.

What is the difference between the Secure Browsing feature and the AVG Secure VPN app?

Both the Secure Browsing feature and the AVG Secure VPN app give you a secure VPN connection. Secure Browsing connects you to the closest server we have in your location, while the AVG Secure VPN app allows you to choose which server you connect to.

What is Identity Protection?

Identity Protection keeps all of your online accounts safe by ensuring none of the passwords linked to your email address are leaked online. If a leak is found, Identity Protection immediately notifies you and prompts you to change the password that was compromised.

How do I activate Identity Protection?

  1. Tap the Identity Protection panel on the main app screen.
  2. Tap Add email address.
  3. Enter the email address you would like to check, then tap Add email.

Identity Protection immediately performs a search on your email address and notifies you if any leaks are found. Identity Protection is now active for your email address and keeps checking to ensure your password isn't leaked.

How do I add more email addresses to Identity Protection?

If you have a paid AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription, Identity Protection can secure more than one email address. Upgrade to AVG Mobile Security Pro, then follow the steps below:

  1. Tap the Identity Protection panel on the main app screen.
  2. Tap Add email address.
  3. Enter the email address you want to add, then tap Add email.

What is Photo Vault?

Photo Vault protects your photos and images from prying eyes by moving them to an encrypted vault. Once they are in the vault, a PIN is necessary to access them. You can add up to 40 photos or images from your device or camera to the vault. With a paid AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription, you can store an unlimited number of photos or images in Photo Vault.

How do I activate Photo Vault?

To activate Photo Vault, you first need to set a passcode:

  1. Tap the Photo Vault panel on the main app screen.
  2. Tap Set passcode.
  3. Enter a 4-digit passcode, then enter your passcode again to confirm it.

Photo Vault is now active and you can add photos and images to the vault to protect them from being accessed by other people using your iOS device.

How do I add photos or images to Photo Vault?

You can add existing photos or images to your Photo Vault from the photo library on your device, or you can use the camera on your device to take a photo and import it directly into your Photo Vault.

To add photos or images to Photo Vault:

  1. Tap Open on the Photo Vault tile.
  2. Enter your passcode, then tap the + plus button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select either Photo Library or Camera:

Photo Library

  1. If prompted, tap OK to give AVG Mobile Security permission to access your photo library.
  2. Tap a photo to select it.
  3. Once you have selected all the photos you want to add, tap Select in the top-right corner.
  4. Optionally, tap Delete to remove the photo from your photo library.

Camera

  1. If prompted, tap OK to give AVG Mobile Security permission to access your camera.
  2. Take a photo then tap Use Photo or Retake.
If you uninstall AVG Mobile Security, any photos you have stored in the Photo Vault will be deleted along with the app and there is no option to restore them. We recommend exporting your files from Photo Vault before uninstalling the app.

Can I export my photos from Photo Vault?

Yes. We recommend exporting your photos from Photo Vault before uninstalling the app.

To export your photos from Photo Vault:

  1. Open Photo Vault and tap Select in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap the photos you want to export.
  3. Tap Share in the bottom-left corner.
  4. Select your preferred method for exporting or saving the files and follow the on-screen instructions.

Subscription and Activation

What are the benefits of upgrading to AVG Mobile Security Pro?

AVG Mobile Security for iOS is available as both a free and paid version. When you upgrade to AVG Mobile Security Pro (the paid version of the app), you can take advantage of the following premium features:

  • Secure Browsing: Protect your privacy by using a VPN to ensure no one can spy on your online activity.
  • Unlimited Identity Protection: Immediately receive a notification if any of your passwords are found leaked online. The free version of the app allows you to secure one email account at a time, while the paid version of the app allows you to secure unlimited email accounts simultaneously.
  • Unlimited Photo Vault: Lock an unlimited number of photos in an encrypted vault so that only you have access to them. You still have access to Photo Vault with the free version of the app, but you can only protect up to 40 photos.

How do I upgrade to AVG Mobile Security Pro?

  1. Tap Upgrade in the top-right corner of the main app screen.
  2. Select your preferred product, then tap Upgrade Now.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the transaction.

When the transaction completes, your subscription activates automatically on the device used for purchase. Your purchased subscription is valid on all devices that are connected to your Google Account and have AVG Mobile Security installed.

Is my subscription for AVG Mobile Security Pro also valid for other paid AVG apps?

No. If you purchase AVG Mobile Security Pro for iOS, your subscription is only valid for this app on an iOS device.

If you purchased AVG Mobile Security Pro as part of an AVG subscription bundle (such as AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device) or AVG Ultimate (Multi-Device)), your subscription is valid for other paid AVG products. To confirm what is included in your AVG subscription, check the AVG Account that is linked to the email address you provided during the subscription purchase, or an order confirmation email.

How can I cancel a paid AVG Mobile Security subscription?

Uninstalling AVG Mobile Security from your iOS device does not cancel your paid subscription, and you will continue to be charged for the subscription until you cancel it. To cancel a subscription purchased via the App Store, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID that you used to purchase your AVG subscription.
  2. Open the App Store on your iOS device.
  3. Tap your profile image in the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap Subscriptions.
  5. Select the AVG subscription that you want to cancel.
  6. Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial).
  7. Tap Confirm to confirm the cancellation.

Your subscription is canceled and will stop at the end of the current subscription period.

If you did not purchase AVG Mobile Security Pro via the App Store, you need to cancel the subscription via your AVG Account. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article:

Is there a free-trial option for AVG Mobile Security Pro?

Yes. The free trial allows you to use all paid features for either 7 or 14 days free of charge. The 7-day free trial activates automatically when you select a monthly AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription, and the 14-day free trial activates automatically when you select a yearly AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription. Once the free-trial period ends, your AVG Mobile Security Pro subscription starts automatically.

If you do not want to continue using AVG Mobile Security Pro after your free-trial period expires, you need to cancel the subscription during the free trial. Otherwise, you will be charged the price of your selected subscription (1 year or 1 month).

How can I reactivate my subscription if I change or restore my device?

Follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID that you used to purchase AVG Mobile Security Pro.
  2. Open AVG Mobile Security and tap Start 14-day trial during the tutorial. If you skipped the tutorial, tap Upgrade in the top-right corner of the main app screen.
  3. Tap Already purchased?Restore from iTunes.

The app automatically retrieves and activates your AVG Mobile Security subscription from the App Store.

How do I verify which version of AVG Mobile Security is installed on my device?

To check the version number of your AVG Mobile Security app, open the app and go to Settings (the gear icon). The app version number is listed at the bottom of the screen under Current version.

How can I control what data I share with AVG and third parties?

Sharing app-usage data with AVG and 3rd-party analytics tools is automatically enabled to help improve the app. You can disable these settings within AVG Mobile Security by going to Settings (the gear icon) ▸ Data Settings. Tap the green (ON) slider next to an option so that it changes to white (OFF).

How can I change my passcode for Photo Vault?

  1. Tap Settings (the gear icon) in the top-left corner of the main app screen.
  2. Under Photo Vault, tap Change Passcode.
  3. Enter your current passcode.
  4. Enter a new 4-digit passcode.
  5. Enter your new passcode again to confirm it.

Your passcode for Photo Vault is now changed.

Troubleshooting

How can I uninstall AVG Mobile Security?

  1. On the Home screen of your device, touch and hold the AVG Security icon.
  2. Select Remove App.
  3. Select Delete App to remove AVG Mobile Security and all of your app data.
  4. Tap Delete to confirm uninstallation.

AVG Mobile Security is now uninstalled from your iOS device.
