Transferring an AVG subscription to another device

The information in this article does not apply to AVG apps purchased via Google Play Store or the App Store. To learn how to transfer a subscription purchased via one of these vendors, refer to the following article:

This article explains how to transfer an AVG product subscription from one device to another. Refer to the relevant section below according to your AVG product.

AVG Internet Security

Before transferring your AVG Internet Security subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms. This subscription option includes AVG Internet Security for PC and Mac, as well as AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android and AVG Mobile Security Pro for iOS.
  • AVG Internet Security for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG Internet Security subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.
  • AVG Internet Security for Mac: You can activate your subscription on 1 Mac. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Mac, but you cannot use your AVG Internet Security subscription on more than one Mac simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG Internet Security subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to the original device:

 
  1. Uninstall AVG Internet Security from your original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  2. Uninstall AVG Mobile Security from your original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  3. Deactivate your subscription on the original device. Follow these steps:
    • Open AVG AntiVirus and go to ☰ Menu (three lines) ▸ My Subscriptions.
    • Tap ⋮ More options (three dots) next to your subscription, and select Remove.
  4. Optionally uninstall AVG AntiVirus from the original device. Alternatively, you can continue to use the free version of the app.
  5. Install your chosen product on the new device. For instructions, refer to the relevant article below:
  6. Activate your chosen product on the new device. For instructions, refer to the relevant article below:

Your AVG Internet Security subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG Ultimate

Before transferring your AVG Ultimate subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG Ultimate (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms.
  • AVG Ultimate for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG Ultimate subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG Ultimate subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to the original device:

 
  1. If AVG Secure VPN is activated on your original device, you need to deactivate your subscription in this application. Follow the steps below:
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to ☰ Menu ▸ My subscriptions.
    • Click the down arrow next to your subscription, then select Deactivate this subscription.
    You can then optionally uninstall AVG Secure VPN from your original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  2. If AVG Secure VPN is activated on your original device, you need to deactivate your subscription in this application. Follow the steps below:
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Subscriptions.
    • Click Deactivate next to your subscription.
    You can then optionally uninstall AVG Secure VPN from your original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  3. On the original device, deactivate your subscription in all of the products that are connected to your AVG Ultimate subscription. Follow the steps below:
    • AVG Secure VPN: Go to Settings (the gear icon) ▸ Subscription. Tap Remove device from my subscription.
    • AVG AntiVirus Pro: Go to ☰ Menu (three lines) ▸ My Subscriptions. Tap ⋮ More options (three dots) next to your subscription, and select Remove.
    • AVG Cleaner Pro: Go to ☰ Menu (three lines) ▸ Settings ▸ Subscription. Tap Unlink next to your subscription, then tap Unlink again to confirm.
    You can then choose to either uninstall the apps listed above, or continue to use the free version of these apps on your original device. For uninstallation instructions, refer to the following articles:
  4. If AVG Secure VPN is activated on your original device, you need to deactivate your subscription in this app. Follow the steps below:
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to Settings (the gear icon) ▸ Subscription.
    • Tap Remove device from my subscription.
    You can then optionally uninstall AVG Secure VPN from your original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  5. Uninstall the remaining products that are connected to your AVG Ultimate subscription from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following articles:
  6. If AVG Mobile Security Pro is activated on your original device, you need to uninstall this app. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  7. Install and activate your chosen AVG Ultimate products on the new device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Your AVG Ultimate subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG TuneUp

Before transferring your AVG TuneUp subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG TuneUp (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms. This subscription includes AVG TuneUp for PC and Mac, as well as AVG Cleaner Pro for Android.
  • AVG TuneUp for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG TuneUp subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG TuneUp subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to the original device:

 
  1. Uninstall AVG TuneUp from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
  2. Deactivate your subscription on the original device. Follow the steps below:
    • Open AVG Cleaner and go to ☰ Menu (three lines) ▸ Settings.
    • Select Subscription.
    • Tap Unlink next to your subscription.
  3. Optionally uninstall AVG Cleaner from the original device. Alternatively, you can continue to use the free version of the app.
  4. Install your chosen product on the new device. For instructions, refer to the relevant article below:

Your AVG TuneUp subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG Secure VPN

Before transferring your AVG Secure VPN subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG Secure VPN (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms.
    New AVG Secure VPN (Multi-Device) subscriptions purchased from the start of April 2021 are valid for 10 devices. If you purchased your AVG Secure VPN (Multi-Device) subscription before April 2021, it is valid for 5 devices during the current subscription period. When your subscription renews, it will upgrade to 10 devices.
  • AVG Secure VPN for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG Secure VPN subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.
  • AVG Secure VPN for Mac: You can activate your subscription on 1 Mac. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Mac, but you cannot use your AVG Secure VPN subscription on more than one Mac simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG Secure VPN subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to the original device:

 
  1. Deactivate your subscription on the original device. Follow the instructions below:
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to ☰ Menu ▸ My subscriptions.
    • Click the down arrow next to your AVG Secure VPN subscription.
    • Select Deactivate this subscription.
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Subscriptions.
    • Click Deactivate next to your subscription.
    • Open AVG Secure VPN and go to Settings (the gear icon) ▸ Subscription.
    • Tap Remove device from my subscription.
  2. Optionally uninstall AVG Secure VPN from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

  4. Activate your AVG Secure VPN subscription on the new device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Your AVG Secure VPN subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG AntiTrack

Before transferring your AVG AntiTrack subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG AntiTrack (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms.
  • AVG AntiTrack for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG AntiTrack subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.
  • AVG AntiTrack for Mac: You can activate your subscription on 1 Mac. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Mac, but you cannot use your AVG AntiTrack subscription on more than one Mac simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG AntiTrack subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to the original device:

AVG Driver Updater

Before transferring your AVG Driver Updater subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG Driver Updater for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG Driver Updater subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG Driver Updater subscription to another device:

  1. Uninstall AVG Driver Updater from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Your AVG Driver Updater subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG BreachGuard

Before transferring your AVG BreachGuard subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG BreachGuard (Multi-Device): You can activate your subscription on up to 10 devices simultaneously. You can transfer your subscription freely between devices and platforms.
  • AVG BreachGuard for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG BreachGuard subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.
  • AVG BreachGuard for Mac: You can activate your subscription on 1 Mac. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Mac, but you cannot use your AVG BreachGuard subscription on more than one Mac simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG BreachGuard subscription to another device, refer to the relevant section below according to your original device:

 
  1. Sign out of AVG BreachGuard on the original device. Follow the steps below:
    • Open AVG BreachGuard and click ☰ Menu in the top-right corner.
    • Click Sign out of AVG BreachGuard.
    • Open AVG BreachGuard and click ☰ Menu in the top-right corner.
    • Click Sign out.
  2. Optionally uninstall AVG BreachGuard from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

  4. Activate your AVG BreachGuard subscription on the new device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

Your AVG BreachGuard subscription is now active on the new device.

AVG Battery Saver

Before transferring your AVG Battery Saver subscription, check the conditions for the subscription option you purchased:

  • AVG Battery Saver for PC: You can activate your subscription on 1 Windows PC. You can transfer your subscription to an alternative Windows PC, but you cannot use your AVG Battery Saver subscription on more than one PC simultaneously.

To transfer your AVG Battery Saver subscription to another device:

  1. Uninstall AVG Battery Saver from the original device. For instructions, refer to the following article:
