What is AVG Battery Saver?
AVG Battery Saver is a tool designed to extend the battery life of your laptop by reducing internal and external power demands. You can switch between Battery Saver profiles to extend battery life as required and create your own Custom profile.
How do I open AVG Battery Saver?
Open AVG Battery Saver using either method below:
- Double-click the AVG Battery Saver icon on your desktop.
- Click the AVG Battery Saver icon in the notification area of your Windows taskbar.
How does AVG Battery Saver improve battery life?
To block unnecessary power drains and improve your laptop's battery life, AVG Battery Saver applies the following actions:
- Lowers processor frequency.
- Optimizes display settings.
- Allows one-click disabling of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Will AVG Battery Saver reduce system performance?
Depending on which Battery Saver profile is enabled, AVG Battery Saver may reduce your processor speed to extend battery life.
- Custom profile: The effect on system performance depends on your customized settings. To adjust processor performance when the Custom profile is enabled, go to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Custom mode ▸ Hardware and devices ▸ Processor performance. - Maximum profile: This profile prioritizes maximum power savings, so you may notice a slight decrease in processor speed while it is enabled. You cannot customize the Maximum profile.
How do I know that AVG Battery Saver is working?
AVG Battery Saver calculates the impact of the currently enabled Battery Saver profile, and displays the estimated remaining battery time at the top of the application dashboard, next to Capacity. You can switch between Battery Saver profiles to compare the impact on battery life.

- Windows 11 except Mixed Reality and IoT Edition; Windows 10 except Mobile and IoT Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 8/8.1 except RT and Starter Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 7 SP1 or later, any Edition (32 or 64-bit)
- Windows fully compatible laptop with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE3 instructions)
- 1 GB RAM or above
- 1 GB free space on the hard disk
- Internet connection to download, activate, and maintain application updates
- Optimally standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels

How do I download and install AVG Battery Saver?
- Click the button below to download the AVG Battery Saver setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your laptop (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder). Download AVG Battery Saver
- Right-click the downloaded setup file
avg_battery_saver_online_setup.exe
and select Run as administrator from the context menu. - Follow the on-screen instructions to install AVG Battery Saver on your laptop.

How can I check when my subscription expires?
Open AVG Battery Saver and go to Menu ▸ My subscriptions. The duration of your subscription is listed under Subscriptions on this PC.
Can I use my AVG Battery Saver subscription on multiple devices?
No. You cannot use your AVG Battery Saver subscription on more than one device simultaneoulsy. However, if necessary, you can stop using AVG Battery Saver on the current device and start using it on a new device. For instructions, refer to the following article:

What are AVG Battery Saver profiles?
An AVG Battery Saver profile is a collection of settings that manage your laptop's battery usage. To select a profile, open AVG Battery Saver, then click the relevant tile on the application dashboard.
AVG Battery Saver includes 3 profile options:
- Off: When you select the Off profile, AVG Battery Saver is disabled and takes no action to extend your laptop's battery life. Your PC operates according to your currently configured Windows settings.
- Custom: When you select the Custom profile, AVG Battery Saver optimizes battery life according to your Custom mode settings. This is useful if you want to increase battery life without applying all settings included in the Maximum profile.
- Maximum: When you select the Maximum profile, AVG Battery Saver prioritizes battery life over performance. Screen and Display and Hardware and Device settings are optimized to maximize battery life. You can temporarily adjust system behavior when this profile is enabled, but you cannot change default settings for the Maximum profile.
How do I know which profile is enabled?
When you open AVG Battery Saver, the circle on the enabled profile tile is green (enabled).
However, if the Off profile is selected, the circle on this profile tile is red to show that AVG Battery Saver is effectively disabled.
Why did my AVG Battery Saver profile change automatically?
Your AVG Battery Saver profile may change because of the following settings that are applied by default:
- AVG Battery Saver automatically switches to the Off profile when you plug in your laptop.
- AVG Battery Saver automatically switches to the Maximum profile when you unplug your laptop.
To customize these settings, go to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ Battery Saver and tick or untick the boxes according to your preferred settings.
Can I create more than one Custom profile?
No, you cannot save multiple custom profiles with different settings. The Custom profile is configured according to your Custom mode settings. If you adjust the custom mode settings, the new settings apply to the existing Custom profile.
How do I configure my Custom profile settings?
AVG Battery Saver includes General and Custom mode settings. Custom mode settings are applied only to the Custom profile.
To configure Custom mode settings:
- Open AVG Battery Saver and go to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Custom mode.
- Configure your Custom profile via the following sections:
- Screen and display: adjust screen brightness, adaptive backlighting, and use the drop-down menu to select a time limit after which your display turns off.
- Hardware and Devices: define processor performance, determine when your laptop goes to sleep, turns off the hard disk, or hibernates. You can also adjust your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
Customized settings are applied automatically to your Custom profile and remain saved unless you manually adjust them. You cannot have more than one Custom profile. If you adjust your settings again, the new settings apply to the existing Custom profile.

How do I adjust AVG Battery Saver General settings?
You can adjust General application settings via Menu ▸ Settings ▸ General. The following options are available:
- Battery Saver: Specify AVG Battery Saver's default behavior when your laptop is unplugged or plugged in. These settings apply to all profiles.
- Languages: Use the drop-down menu to specify your preferred language.
- Notifications: Select which notifications you want to receive from AVG Battery Saver.
- Personal privacy: Determine how your personal data is used and whether you want to receive other product offers.
- Troubleshooting: Opt to create error logs and crash reports, and send them to AVG Support for troubleshooting.
- Developer settings: Configure advanced settings that control how AVG Battery Saver behaves when the application is closed. Disabling these settings may prevent AVG Battery Saver from working properly.

Settings on the General settings screen apply to the entire application, while settings in Custom mode apply only to the Custom profile.
How can I ensure I am using the latest version of AVG Battery Saver?
To manage settings for AVG Battery Saver application updates:
- Open AVG Battery Saver and go to Menu ▸ Settings.
- Select General ▸ Update Battery Saver in the left panel.
- If you are using the latest version of AVG Battery Saver, you see the message: You're up to date.
- To manage when AVG Battery Saver automatically checks for and installs updates, select your preferred option under Choose how you'd like to get updates.

What can I do if Wi-Fi won't connect while using AVG Battery Saver?
Open AVG Battery Saver and ensure that the Wi-Fi slider at the bottom of the main screen is green (ON).
Your Wi-Fi may automatically disable when you enable the Custom profile, if you have configured this behavior in your Custom profile settings. Follow the steps below to check your Custom profile settings:
- Open AVG Battery Saver and go to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Custom mode.
- Select Hardware and devices.
- To ensure Wi-Fi remains enabled, select Do not change next to Wi-Fi performance settings.
What can I do if Bluetooth won't connect while using AVG Battery Saver?
Open AVG Battery Saver and ensure that the Bluetooth slider at the bottom of the main screen is green (ON).
Your Bluetooth may automatically disable when you enable the Custom profile, if you have configured this behavior in your Custom profile settings. Follow the steps below to check your Custom profile settings:

Try the following troubleshooting options:
- Close AVG Battery Saver and open it again.
- If the issue persists, close AVG Battery Saver and restart your PC.
- Uninstall then reinstall AVG Battery Saver.
What should I do if activation is unsuccessful?
Ensure that the activation code you are trying to use is for AVG Battery Saver. AVG Battery Saver is not included when you purchase AVG Internet Security, so you cannot use an AVG Internet Security subscription to activate AVG Battery Saver.
