Installing AVG Driver Updater on Windows

AVG Driver Updater is a PC performance tool that scans your hardware for broken and outdated drivers, and then updates them to reduce and prevent problems with your PC.

AVG Driver Updater is a paid product that requires a subscription to use. This article explains how to install the latest version of the application and either activate an existing subscription, start a free trial period, or purchase AVG Driver Updater.

Install AVG Driver Updater

  1. Click the button below to download the AVG Driver Updater setup file, and save it to a familiar location on your PC (by default, downloaded files are saved to your Downloads folder). Download AVG Driver Updater
  2. Right-click the downloaded setup file avg_driver_updater_online_setup.exe and select Run as administrator from the context menu.
If you are unable to authorize installation of AVG Driver Updater, refer to the following article for advice:
  1. If prompted for permission by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  2. Click Install Now.
  3. Click Scan Drivers.
  4. Wait while AVG Driver Updater scans your PC.
  5. If outdated drivers are detected, click Update Selected.
    Alternatively, click Unlock All Features.
  6. Select one of the options below:
    • Purchase a subscription: Select your preferred subscription, then click Buy Now and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.
    • Start a free trial: Click the X in the top-right corner of the purchase screen, then click Start Free Trial and follow the on-screen instructions to access AVG Driver Updater for a limited time.
    • I already have a subscription: If you already purchased AVG Driver Updater before installation, activate your paid subscription. For detailed activation instructions, refer to the following article:

AVG Driver Updater is now installed on your PC.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any installation issues:

  1. Ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements and your Windows is up-to-date.
  • Windows 10 except Mobile and IoT Core Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 8/8.1 except RT and Starter Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 7 SP1 or later, any Edition (32 or 64-bit).
  • Windows fully compatible PC with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE2 instructions).
  • 256 MB RAM or above.
  • 400 MB free space on the hard disk.
  • Internet connection is required to download, activate, and use the application.
  • Optimally standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels is recommended.

  2. If you use third-party antivirus software, try temporarily disabling your protection (this applies only if you do not use AVG AntiVirus). For more information, refer to the following article:
  3. Restart your PC, then try to install AVG Driver Updater again by following the exact steps in this article.
