Repairing AVG AntiVirus

If certain application components and features are not working properly in AVG Internet Security or AVG AntiVirus FREE, we recommend you repair your installation using the AVG Setup window. Installation repair is recommended to resolve the following issues with your AVG application:

  • Certain features are not working.
  • A scan is stuck mid-progress.
  • An application update fails.
When you repair your AVG application, some customized settings may return to their default configurations.

Instructions

  1. Ensure that no other applications are running on your PC.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start icon and select Installed apps from the menu that appears.
  3. Beside AVG AntiVirus FREE or AVG Internet Security, click Options (the three dots) and select Uninstall twice.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  5. When the AVG Setup window appears, click Repair.
  6. Wait while setup repairs your AVG AntiVirus application.
  7. If prompted, click Restart computer to immediately reboot your PC and complete the repair. If a restart is not necessary, click Done.
  1. Ensure that no other applications are running on your PC.
  2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Apps and Features from the menu that appears.
  3. Click AVG Internet Security or AVG AntiVirus FREE, and select Uninstall twice.
  4. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  5. When the AVG Setup window appears, click Repair.
  6. Wait while setup repairs your AVG AntiVirus application.
  7. If prompted, click Restart computer to immediately reboot your PC and complete the repair. If a restart is not necessary, click Done.
  1. Ensure that no other applications are running on your PC.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and the X key simultaneously.
  3. Select Programs and Features from the menu that appears.
  4. Right-click AVG Internet Security or AVG AntiVirus FREE, and select Uninstall.
  5. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  6. When the AVG Setup window appears, click Repair.
  7. Wait while setup repairs your AVG AntiVirus application.
  8. If prompted, click Restart computer to immediately reboot your PC and complete the repair. If a restart is not necessary, click Done.
  1. Ensure that no other applications are running on your PC.
  2. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. Follow option A or option B below according to your view:
    • Option A (Default category view): Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
    • Option B (Large/small icons view): Click Programs and Features.
  4. Right-click AVG Internet Security or AVG AntiVirus FREE, then select Uninstall.
  5. If prompted by the User Account Control dialog, click Yes.
  6. When the AVG Setup window appears, click Repair.
  7. Wait while setup repairs your AVG AntiVirus application.
  8. If prompted, click Restart computer to immediately reboot your PC and complete the repair. If a restart is not necessary, click Done.

Your AVG application is repaired.
