Alarm Clock Xtreme consists of three main features:

  • Alarms: Create new alarms directly from the app's main screen, and modify, activate, or deactivate existing alarms.
  • Timer: Set, name, and run multiple countdown timers at once.
  • Stopwatch: Record segments of time while the stopwatch is running and share your results directly from the app.

This article answers the most commonly asked questions related to the features, settings, and general use of Alarm Clock Xtreme.

Download and installation

What are the system requirements for Alarm Clock Xtreme?

You can install and run Alarm Clock Xtreme on any device running Android 5.0 (Lollipop, API 21) or higher. Alarm Clock Xtreme cannot be downloaded or installed on non-Android operating systems, including Symbian, iOS, Microsoft Windows Phone, Bada, or WebOS. The system settings of certain device types may also affect the operation of Alarm Clock Xtreme. If you are using a custom ROM, the app may not work as expected. Contact AVG Support to report any feedback regarding this issue.

NOTE: The automatic backup feature is only available on Android 6.0 and above.

How can I download and install Alarm Clock Xtreme?

Alarm Clock Xtreme is available to download and install from the Google Play Store:

  1. Open Google Play Store from the Home Screen of your device, search for Alarm Clock Xtreme, then open Alarm Clock Xtreme: Free Smart Alarm & Timer App from the search results.
  2. Tap Install, then wait while the app installs on your device.
  3. When installation is complete, tap Open to access the app user-interface.
  4. Tap Get Started.
  5. Select your preferred option:
    • Continue With Ads: Start using the free version of the app, which contains ads.
    • Upgrade Now: Follow on-screen instructions to purchase the paid version of the app, which does not contains ads.

Alarm Clock Xtreme is now installed and ready to use.

How do I open Alarm Clock Xtreme?

After installation, tap the Alarm Clock Xtreme icon on your device's Home Screen to open the app.

How can I uninstall Alarm Clock Xtreme?

  1. Open Google Play Store from the Home Screen of your device and search for Alarm Clock Xtreme.
  2. Tap Alarm Clock Xtreme: Free Smart Alarm & Timer App to open the app information page.
  3. Tap Uninstall, then tap OK to confirm.

Alarm Clock Xtreme is no longer installed on your device.

Alarms

How do I set an alarm?

You can access the Alarms feature directly from the main app screen. Tap the + (plus icon) in the bottom-right corner to add a new alarm, then select an option:

  • Quick Alarm:
    1. Enter the amount of time before the alarm goes off.
    2. Optionally tap the gear icon to configure alarm behavior that will be applied to all future Quick Alarms.
    3. Tap Set Quick Alarm to return to the main app screen.
  • Standard Alarm:
    1. configure alarm behavior individually for the current alarm.
    2. Optionally tap Preview to test the alarm.
    3. Tap Save to set the alarm and return directly to the main app screen.

Your created alarm appears on the main app screen.

NOTE: When you activate an alarm, you may be prompted to enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in your device settings, add Alarm Clock Xtreme to your unmonitored apps, or allow Alarm Clock Xtreme to run when Do Not Disturb is enabled. We recommend following on-screen instructions to ensure that your alarm goes off.

What is a Quick Alarm?

A Quick Alarm is the quickest and easiest way to set an alarm in Alarm Clock Xtreme. To set a Quick Alarm:

  • Tap the + icon in the bottom-right corner of the main app screen.
  • Select Quick Alarm.
  • Enter a time duration. Your Quick Alarm will go off automatically after this time duration has passed. You can optionally configure behavior for all existing Quick Alarms (including sound, dismiss method, and snooze settings) by tapping the gear icon.
  • Tap Set Quick Alarm.

Your Quick Alarm is scheduled and appears on the main app screen next with a slider containing a bolt icon. Tap this slider to permanently remove the Quick Alarm.

After a Quick Alarm goes off, it disappears from the main app screen and will not go off again.

How can I personalize my alarms to suit me?

The following options are available from the edit alarm screen:

  • Time and day: Select at which time and on which day(s) your alarm goes off. (Only available for Standard Alarms)
  • Alarm name: Provide a name for your alarm. This makes the alarm easily recognizable from the main app screen. (Only available for Standard Alarms)
  • Sound:
    • Use a favorite song, or a random song from a chosen artist or playlist. You can also use an online radio station as your alarm sound.
    • Specify the alarm's volume.
    • Specify if your alarm's volume settings have permission to override system volume. This setting is enabled by default and recommended to ensure your alarm behaves as expected.
    • Configure your chosen sound to Gradually increase volume when the alarm is not snoozed or dismissed.
    • Select a Vibration setting.
  • Dismiss:
    • Dismissed by: Access Snooze & Dismiss settings for the current alarm.
    • Dismiss Puzzle: Configure a Math, Password, or QR/Barcode puzzle that must be completed before you can dismiss an alarm.
    • App Launch: Specify an app to load after you dismiss an alarm.
  • Snoozed by:
    • Snoozed by: Access Snooze & Dismiss settings for the current alarm.
    • Snooze Puzzle: Configure a Math or Password puzzle that must be completed before you can dismiss an alarm.

NOTE: To edit your Standard Alarm template, tap Menu (three lines) in the top-left corner of the main app screen and select SettingsAlarmAlarm template. Settings configured in Alarm template apply automatically to all subsequently created Standard Alarms, but do not affect your previously created alarms.

How can I change my snooze and dismiss settings?

  1. Tap the Standard Alarm you want to edit from the main app screen.
  2. Access the Snooze & Dismiss screen by tapping either Snoozed by or Dismissed by. The following options are available:
    • Dismiss / Snooze: Specify which actions dismiss the alarm and which actions snooze the alarm. Options include Screen button, Volume buttons, Shaking, and Power button.
    • Automatic dismiss: Specify for how long the alarm sounds before it is automatically dismissed. Select Never if you want the alarm to continue sounding indefinitely until it is manually snoozed or dismissed.
    • Duration: Select the number of minutes you want each snooze to last.
    • Automatic snooze: Specify for how long the alarm sounds before it is automatically snoozed. Select Never if you want the alarm to continue sounding indefinitely until it is manually snoozed or dismissed.
    • Shorten snoozes: Specify by how many minutes you want to shorten each subsequent snooze. If you do not want snoozes to shorten, select 0.
    • Max snoozes: Select the maximum number of snoozes you want the alarm to allow. Select Unlimited if you do not want to set a maximum.
  3. Tap the back arrow in the top-left corner to return to the edit alarm screen.

What is QR/Barcode Scanner?

You can configure an alarm that is dismissed by scanning your chosen QR/barcode. To access this feature, tap an alarm to open the edit alarm screen, then tap Dismiss PuzzleQR/Barcode. The following options are available:

  • Scan any code: Enabling this option means that you can dismiss the alarm by scanning any QR/barcode.
  • Your code library: Tick one or more previously scanned codes. Only selected codes will dismiss the alarm.
  • Scan a new code: Tap the the camera icon at the bottom of the screen to scan a new code.

How can I remove an alarm?

To deactivate a Standard Alarm, tap its slider from the main app screen so it changes to OFF (gray). A deactivated alarm still appears on the main app screen, but will not go off unless you manually re-activate it. It is not possible to temporarily deactivate a Quick Alarm, as they can only be removed permanently.

To permanently delete a Standard Alarm or a Quick Alarm, perform one of the following actions:

  • (A): Tap Menu (3 dots) to the right of the alarm you want to delete, then tap Delete.
  • (B): Swipe an alarm left until it disappears.
  • (C): Tap and hold an alarm, then tap Delete.

If you delete an alarm by mistake, you can retrieve it by tapping the Undo button that briefly appears at the bottom of your screen.

Why did my scheduled alarm not work?

If a scheduled alarm does not go off at its designated time, Alarm Clock Xtreme may have been forced to stop by another app or system setting designed to preserve your device's memory or battery. To prevent Alarm Clock Xtreme from being force stopped, you need to manage your device settings, or the settings of the other app. Try these options:

  • Add Alarm Clock Xtreme to the list of allowed or white-listed apps for any battery or memory saving apps installed on your device.
  • Enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in your Phone Manager, or go to your device Settings and enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in any sections relating to Battery, Power management, Background app management, or Protected apps.

How can I set an online radio as my alarm?

NOTE: Alarm Clock Xtreme is unable to access and play your selected online radio station without an internet connection.

  1. Tap an existing Standard Alarm from the main app screen to modify its sound, or tap the plus icon in the bottom-right corner to create a new alarm.
  2. Tap your current alarm sound (Ringtone, Music on device, or Silent), then select TypeOnline Radio.
  3. Choose your preferred station from the list, or tap Add Online Radio and provide:
    • Name: Type a name that allows you to quickly recognize your favorite radio station.
    • URL: Type or paste your online radio streaming URL. A list of supported formats is available on the Android Support website.

NOTE: The online radio streaming URL is not the same as the main URL of the radio station website. For most radio stations, you can get a streaming URL from the station's radio player app. A full list of BBC network radio URLs is available here.

Why isn't the radio working as my alarm sound?

Alarm Clock Xtreme is unable to access and play your selected online radio station without an internet connection. If you are using Android 5.0 or earlier, your device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi or data to use a radio station as your alarm sound. For this reason, we recommend you keep your Wi-Fi or data enabled when an alarm is scheduled. On Android 6.0 and later, Alarm Clock Xtreme can activate your Wi-Fi or data when your alarm is scheduled to access and play your selected online radio station.

Timer

How do I set a timer?

  1. Tap the ☰ Menu icon (3 lines) at the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap Timer.
  3. Tap the + plus icon in the bottom-right corner.
  4. Enter your chosen time duration.
  5. Tap Start Timer.

You can perform the following actions while a timer is running:

  • Increase the timer length: Tap +1:00. Each time you tap +1:00, one minute is added to the time duration.
  • Pause the timer: Tap the pause icon next to the timer.
  • Rename the timer: Tap (three dots) next to the relevant timer, and choose Rename.
  • Delete the timer: Tap the pause icon, then tap the timer's panel and swipe to the left.
  • Restart the timer: Tap the pause icon, then tap the refresh icon.
  • Duplicate the timer: Tap (three dots) next to the relevant timer, and choose Duplicate.
  • Enlarge the timer: Tap and hold the running timer to view the remaining time full-screen.
  • Add additional timers: Tap the plus icon in the bottom-right corner to create and run multiple countdown timers at once.

How can I remove a timer?

To delete a timer, you must first tap the pause icon next to the relevant timer. Perform one of the following actions to delete a paused timer:

  • Tap a timer and swipe left until it disappears.
  • Tap (three dots) next to the relevant timer, and choose Delete.

If you delete a timer by mistake, you can retrieve it by tapping the Undo button that briefly appears at the bottom of your screen.

Stopwatch

How do I use the stopwatch?

  1. Tap the ☰ Menu icon (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap Stopwatch.
  3. Tap the play icon at the bottom of the screen to start timing.

The following options are available while Stopwatch is running:

  • Tap Lap to record segments of time while the stopwatch is running.
  • Tap the pause icon at the bottom of the screen to stop timing.
  • Tap Reset in the bottom-left corner to return the timer to zero, erasing the recorded time and lap information.

Can I share my stopwatch results?

Yes, you can share your stopwatch results directly after you use the Stopwatch function:

  • If Stopwatch is still running, tap the pause icon.
  • Tap Share in the bottom-right corner.
  • Select an email or messaging application to use for sharing your results.
  • Complete the necessary steps within the selected app to share the results.

My Day

What is My Day?

My Day (the 'Good Morning' screen) appears by default each time you dismiss an alarm. You can also access My Day at any time by following steps below:

  1. Tap ☰ Menu (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap My Day.

My Day is an organizational tool that displays the following information by default:

  • The next scheduled alarm.
  • Your local daily weather forecast.
  • All events which are scheduled for the day. The first time you use My Day, tap Sync my calendar to sync Alarm Clock Xtreme with any calendars that are connected to your device.

You can also conveniently play music from the My Day screen. Tap (three dots) in the Play Music panel to specify which music you can access via My Day. Choose access to a specific song, artist, playlist, online radio station, or launch an app (for example, Spotify).

How can I customize the information I see on the 'Good Morning' screen after dismissing an alarm?

  1. Tap ☰ Menu (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap SettingsMy Day Dashboard.
  3. Configure your My Day Dashboard settings:
    • Show after alarm dismissal (enabled by default): Disable this option if you do not want to see My Day Dashboard (the 'Good Morning' screen) after alarm dismissal.
    • My calendar events (enabled by default): Disable this option if you do not want to see calendar events on your My Day Dashboard.
    • Weather forecast (enabled by default): Disable this option if you do not want to see a local daily weather forecast on your My Day Dashboard.
    • Temperature units: Specify which unit is used to display temperature. This option is only visible if Weather forecast is enabled.

How can I prevent the 'Good Morning' screen from appearing every time I dismiss an alarm?

  1. Tap ☰ Menu (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the main app interface.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap My Day Dashboard.
  4. Tap the slider next to Show after alarm dismissal to it changes to OFF (gray).

Settings

How do I manage my settings for Alarm Clock Xtreme?

To access settings in Alarm Clock Xtreme:

  1. Tap the ☰ Menu icon (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap Settings.

Settings are divided into the following categories:

  • General: Specify if Alarm Clock Xtreme uses 24-hour time format, allow Alarm Clock Xtreme to play sound via your speakers when headphones are plugged in, and access your personal privacy settings.
  • Alarm:
    • Alarm template: Settings applied in Alarm template will apply each time you create a new Standard Alarm. The behavior of existing alarms is not affected when you adjust settings in Alarm template.
    • Quick Alarm: Settings applied in Quick Alarm apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms.
    • Show alarm on lock screen (enabled by default): Specify if alarms appear even when your device screen is locked.
    • Vaction mode: Temporarily disable all scheduled alarms.
  • Timer: Modify how timers behave. Select what sound you hear when a timer completes, customize the volume settings, and specify if your device's screen remains on while a timer is running. You can also specify which preset time options appear each time you set a new timer.
  • Stopwatch: Specify whether or not the screen remains on while Stopwatch is running, and enable use of volume control buttons to start/stop a Stopwatch.
  • My Day Dashboard: Specify whether or not the My Day Dashboard appears each time you dismiss an alarm. You can also personalize which options appear on your My Day Dashboard.
  • Notifications: Customize notifications you receive from Alarm Clock Xtreme.

Can I keep my Alarm Clock Xtreme settings if I change or restore my device?

On Android 6.0 and above, Alarm Clock Xtreme is linked to your Google Account. This means that if you change to a new device or reset your current device, the app remembers and applies your alarms and other settings if you are signed into the same account.

To retrieve your alarms and other settings, download and install the app on your device using the same Google Account. For space reasons, auto-backup is unable to back up any custom MP3s you apply as alarm sounds.

NOTE: Auto-backup is not currently possible on earlier versions of Android.

What is Vacation mode?

When Vacation mode is enabled, all alarms are deactivated and will not go off until you disable Vacation mode. To enable Vacation mode:

  1. Tap the ☰ Menu (3 lines) icon in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap SettingsAlarm.
  3. Tap the slider next to Vacation mode so it changes to ON (blue).

Disable Vacation mode by tapping Turn Off next to Vacation mode is enabled on the main app screen.

What is Alarm template?

The settings that you configure in your Alarm template are applied by default to each new Standard Alarm that you create. To access and edit your Alarm template:

  1. Tap the ☰ Menu icon (3 lines) in the top-left corner of the app interface.
  2. Tap SettingsAlarm.
  3. Select Alarm template and configure your alarm settings.

These settings will now apply to all new Standard Alarms that you create. Settings for previously created alarms remain unchanged.

General

How can I upgrade to Alarm Clock Xtreme Pro?

You can subscribe to the premium, ad-free version of the app by tapping the Upgrade badge in the top-right corner of the app interface. When you tap this option, you are guided through the purchase process.

Do I need to keep my device charging while I use Alarm Clock Xtreme?

We recommend you keep your device charging throughout the night if you have an alarm set for the morning, as your alarm may not go off if your device has switched off due to insufficient battery.

Why did Alarm Clock Xtreme stop working?

If you notice that Alarm Clock Xtreme unexpectedly stops working (for example, an alarm doesn't sound at its designated time), Alarm Clock Xtreme may have been forced to stop by another app or system setting designed to preserve your device's memory or battery. Why is the Alarm Clock Xtreme icon no longer on my device's Home Screen?

Updating to a newer version of Alarm Clock Xtreme can sometimes cause the Alarm Clock Xtreme icon to disappear from the Home Screen of your device. If this happens, re-add the icon to your Home Screen. As these steps vary depending on your version of Android, it is necessary to refer to Android's support website for further guidance.
