Alarms

How do I set an alarm?

You can access the Alarms feature directly from the main app screen. Tap + (plus) in the bottom-right corner to add a new alarm. The following options are available:

  • Standard Alarm: Create an alarm that goes off regularly on your chosen day and time. You are prompted to create custom settings that apply only to the current alarm. When you are satisfied with your alarm settings, optionally tap Preview to test the alarm. Then, tap Save to set the alarm and return directly to the main app screen.
  • Quick Alarm: Create a one-off alarm that does not repeat. Using the number pad, specify after how many minutes the alarm will be triggered. Optionally, tap settings (the gear icon) to customize Quick Alarm settings that apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms. When you are satisfied with your customized alarm settings, optionally tap Preview to test the alarm, then tap the back arrow to return to the number pad. Tap Set Quick Alarm to set the alarm and return directly to the main app screen.

NOTE: When you set an alarm, you may be prompted to enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in your device settings, add Alarm Clock Xtreme to your unmonitored apps, or allow Alarm Clock Xtreme to run when Do Not Disturb is enabled. We recommend following on-screen instructions to ensure that your alarm works as expected.

What is a Quick Alarm and how is it different to a Standard Alarm?

A Quick Alarm is ideal if you want to set a one-off alarm that does not repeat. While a Standard Alarm goes off at a specified time, a Quick Alarm goes off after a specified time period (for example, 1 hour after you set the Quick Alarm).

When you create a new Quick Alarm, the alarm appears on the main app screen with a slider containing a bolt icon. After a Quick Alarm goes off, the alarm disappears from the main app screen and will not go off again.

It is not possible to create custom settings for individual Quick Alarms. Changes to your Quick Alarm settings apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms. You can access Quick Alarm settings at any time by tapping (three lines) in the top-left corner of the main app screen, then going to SettingsAlarmQuick Alarm.

How can I personalize my alarms to suit me?

Refer to the relevant section below according to alarm type:

Standard Alarms

You are prompted to customize alarm settings each time you create a new Standard Alarm. You can also edit an existing Standard Alarm by tapping the alarm's panel from the main app screen. When you adjust settings for a Standard Alarm, changes apply only to the current alarm. Existing and future alarms are not affected.

The following options are available:

  • Time and day: Select when your alarm goes off.
  • Alarm name: Provide a name for your alarm. This makes the alarm easily recognizable from the main app screen.
  • Sound:
    • Use a favorite song, or a random song from a chosen artist or playlist. You can also use an online radio station as your alarm sound.
    • Specify the alarm's volume.
    • Specify if your alarm's volume settings have permission to override system volume. This setting is enabled by default and recommended to ensure your alarm behaves as expected.
    • Configure your chosen sound to Gradually increase volume when the alarm is not snoozed or dismissed.
    • Select a Vibration setting.
  • Dismiss:
    • Dismissed by: Access Snooze & Dismiss settings for the current alarm.
    • Dismiss Puzzle: Configure a Math, Password, or QR/Barcode puzzle that you must complete before dismissing an alarm.
    • App Launch: Specify an app to load after you dismiss an alarm.
  • Snooze:
    • Snoozed by: Access Snooze & Dismiss settings for the current alarm.
    • Snooze Puzzle: Configure a Math or Password puzzle that you must complete before snoozing an alarm.

NOTE: Save time when creating alarms by storing your preferred settings as default. Tap (three lines) in the top-left corner of the main app screen and select SettingsAlarmAlarm template.

Alternatively, access Quick Alarm settings directly while creating a Quick Alarm by tapping settings (the gear icon) in the top-right corner of the number pad.

NOTE: When you adjust Quick Alarm settings, changes apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms.

The following options are available:

    • Use a favorite song, or a random song from a chosen artist or playlist. You can also use an online radio station as your alarm sound.
    • Specify the alarm's volume.
    • Specify if your alarm's volume settings have permission to override system volume. This setting is enabled by default and recommended to ensure your alarm behaves as expected.

  • Preset times:
    • Customize the 3 preset time options that appear on the number pad each time you create a Quick Alarm. Tap a Time panel, enter your preferred time, then tap Set Preset Time.

What is the difference between snoozing an alarm and dismissing an alarm?

A snoozed alarm is postponed and will go off again after a set time period. You can customize this time period from the edit alarm screen via Snoozed byDuration.

A dismissed alarm will not go off again until the day that it is next scheduled.

NOTE: You can customize Snooze & Dismiss settings for each individual alarm. For example, specify which actions dismiss or snooze an alarm, configure alarms to automatically dismiss after a certain time period, or set a maximum number of permitted snoozes.

How can I change my snooze and dismiss settings?

  1. Tap the Standard Alarm you want to edit from the main app screen, or create a new Standard Alarm.
  2. Access the Snooze & Dismiss screen by tapping either Snoozed by or Dismissed by. The following options are available:
    • Dismiss / Snooze: Specify which actions dismiss and snooze the alarm. By default, Screen button is selected for both Snooze and Dismiss. You can add additional methods by ticking either Dismiss or Snooze for each available option (Volume buttons, Shaking, Power button).
    • Automatic dismiss: Specify for how long the alarm sounds before it is automatically dismissed. Select Never if you want the alarm to continue sounding indefinitely until you manually snooze or dismiss it.
    • Duration: Specify after how many minutes a snoozed alarm goes off again.
    • Automatic snooze: Specify for how long the alarm sounds before it is automatically snoozed. Select Never if you want the alarm to continue sounding indefinitely until you manually snooze or dismiss it.
    • Shorten snoozes: Specify by how many minutes you want to shorten the duration of each subsequent snooze. If you do not want snooze duration to shorten, select 0.
    • Max snoozes: Select the maximum number of snoozes you want the alarm to allow. Select Unlimited if you do not want to set a maximum.
  3. Tap the back arrow in the top-left corner to return to the edit alarm screen.
  4. Tap Save in the top-right corner to save your snooze and dismiss settings.

NOTE: You can also adjust snooze and dismiss settings for Quick Alarms via Quick Alarm settings. Tap (three lines) and go to SettingsAlarmQuick Alarm. Changes apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms.

What is QR/Barcode Scanner?

You can create an alarm that is only dismissed when you scan your chosen QR/Barcode.

To access this feature, tap any Standard Alarm to open the edit alarm screen, or create a new Standard Alarm. Under Dismiss, tap PuzzleQR/Barcode. The following options are available:

  • Scan any code: Enabling this option means that the alarm is dismissed when you scan any QR/Barcode.
  • Your code library: Tick one or more previously scanned codes. Only selected codes will dismiss the alarm.
  • Scan a new code: Tap the camera icon at the bottom of the screen to scan a new code and save it to your library.

NOTE: This option is also available via Quick Alarm settings. Tap (three lines) and go to SettingsAlarmQuick Alarm. Changes apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms.

How can I remove an alarm?

You can permanently delete a Standard Alarm or a Quick Alarm from the main app screen by tapping the alarm panel and swiping left until it disappears.

If you delete an alarm by mistake, retrieve it by tapping the Undo button that briefly appears at the bottom of your screen.

NOTE: You can also temporarily deactivate a Standard Alarm by tapping its slider on the main app screen so it changes from blue (ON) to gray (OFF). A deactivated alarm still appears on the main app screen, but will not go off unless you manually reactivate it. It is not possible to temporarily deactivate a Quick Alarm.

Why did my scheduled alarm not work?

If a scheduled alarm does not go off at its designated time, Alarm Clock Xtreme may have been forced to stop by another app or system setting designed to preserve your device's memory or battery. To prevent Alarm Clock Xtreme from being force-stopped, you need to manage your device settings, or the settings of the other app. Try these options:

  • Add Alarm Clock Xtreme to the list of allowed or white-listed apps for any battery or memory saving apps installed on your device.
  • Enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in your Phone Manager, or go to your device Settings and enable Alarm Clock Xtreme in any sections relating to Battery, Power management, Background app management, or Protected apps.

For detailed instructions to manage related settings on a selection of the most popular device types, refer to the article below:

How can I set an online radio as my alarm?

NOTE: Alarm Clock Xtreme is unable to access and play your selected online radio station without an internet connection.

  1. Tap an existing Standard Alarm from the main app screen to modify its sound, or set a new Standard Alarm.
  2. Tap your current alarm sound (Ringtone, Music on device, or Silent), then select TypeOnline Radio.
  3. Choose your preferred station from the list, or tap Add Online Radio and provide:
    • Name: Type a name that allows you to quickly recognize your favorite radio station.
    • URL: Type or paste your online radio streaming URL.

NOTE: The online radio streaming URL is not the same as the main URL of the radio station website. For most radio stations, you can get a streaming URL from the station's radio player app.

This option is also available via Quick Alarm settings. Tap (three lines) and go to SettingsAlarmQuick Alarm. Changes apply to all existing and future Quick Alarms.

Why isn't the radio working as my alarm sound?

Alarm Clock Xtreme is unable to access and play your selected online radio station without an internet connection. If you are using Android 5.0 or earlier, your device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi or data to use a radio station as your alarm sound. For this reason, we recommend you keep your Wi-Fi or data enabled when an alarm is scheduled. On Android 6.0 and later, Alarm Clock Xtreme can activate your Wi-Fi or data when your alarm is scheduled to access and play your selected online radio station.
